Drop research is ongoing and can be found here. However, the item can be found most anywhere in all three campaigns and the expansion, though it is most commonly dropped by Necromancer enemies.
[edit] Dye
Dye affects the entire item. Dye seems to result in the same result from different dyes, shading the item to various degrees. Dye only affects certain collector and weaponsmith variants of the Idol. Loot, certain collectors', and certain weaponsmiths' variants cannot be dyed. The default color can be closely replicated using gray, purple, silver or white dye.
