The "Sidhe" is a race that was intended to be in Utopia. The concept for the Sylvari probably evolved from them.

Sídhe, pronounced "shee", are mythological creatures associated with leprechauns, and other early races in Celtic, especially Scottish and Irish literature, legend, and many fantasy works.
