You should have gone with lemon I'm allergic to pine *achoo!* --Shadowphoenix User Shadowphoenix Four-Leaf Clover.png 20:40, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Are you really? Sorry, though. I used Pine-Sol, so there's some lemon in there like the nice lady in the commercials says. MiraLantis 20:42, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
*has a mask on* here user this *hands MiraLantis Lysol* it works better :o) --Shadowphoenix User Shadowphoenix Four-Leaf Clover.png 20:49, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I stumbled over your type-o like crazy... user this... I was like... Who is user this? I have not seen them around the site... Yeah... uhm... I think the pine fresh scent is getting to me. MiraLantis 20:52, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

GWHumor[edit]

Category:Humor is always a good place to start...--Fighterdoken 23:44, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

That's where I got the idea for the userpage project. MiraLantis 23:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Hoorah for humor! — Eloc 01:17, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
That means you'll contribute some tasteful humor, right? :P MiraLantis 01:19, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Maybe. My userboxes might have some humor if you look hard enough, XD — Eloc 01:28, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Lol, maybe I should make the whole thing a redirect to your userpage. :P MiraLantis 01:29, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Speedy U3[edit]

Hey there, the U3 speedy delete reason only applies to user images that violate the user page policy in content only, so naming is not affected by it and should use the general deletion process instead (i.e. a normal {{delete}} tag).

Ah, and for quicker wiki-fairying, see User:Poke/GuildWarsWikiTools ;) --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 23:50, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh shoot... I knew that too. I said it earlier I guess, don't drink and wiki. I never use speedy anyways, what was I thinking? Thanks :P MiraLantis 23:53, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Userpages, subpages and redirects[edit]

Hi again :P

First of all, if you move something like that characters page, move it to a subpage of that user, instead of to another "username" - i.e. instead of moving it to User:IrishSpellSlasher Roleplaying, move it to User:IrishSpellSlasher/Roleplaying (i.e. User:MiraLantis/Subpage name here).

Secondly, redirects shouldn't be set up from the main namespace (without any prefix) to the user namespace (prefixed with "User:").

Thirdly, Guild Wars Wiki:User pages has all the information that will help you in more detail ;) --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 19:13, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Meh, I don't think you set up that redirect? I just saw in recent changes what looked like that, but I think you just put the delete tag under the redirect - in that case, the delete tag doesn't show and the summary looks like you set a redirect. If you want to put something like a delete tag on a redirect page, put it at the top of the page over any redirect. Hope that makes sense. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 19:16, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Many thanks, yeah, I misplaced the delete tag on the auto-redirect. MiraLantis 19:29, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

You're unique weapon edits[edit]

Being undyable is an inherent quality in all unique weapons, and I don't see the need to add that info to the 700+ pages of unique items.--Pyron Sy 00:39, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Whoops! Thanks for showing me. I was had the wrong format guide open. Thanks for letting me know; by the way, I'm actually adding the skins for all of those staves... MiraLantis 00:42, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
I think it's a great idea, since some people may want the skin with different mods, but I thought I'd save you the time and trouble. Keep up the good work.--Pyron Sy 00:45, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm not so good with recreating these things (as per non-unique replica, etc), but I've got one helluva collection of monk staves. MiraLantis 00:46, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

You know, you can link within the wiki using double brackets. [[these things]] everything after /wiki/ in the URL is included in those brackets and bingo, a link! You can also make the link say something different than the URL, just include a |after the name and after the |include what you want. MiraLantis 05:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I totally knew that xD Halogod35 21:55, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Talk Page Edits[edit]

Hey Mira. I understand what you are saying, but there are a few things I think you should consider.

  • First, if you think someone has broken a policy, guideline, or even etiquette, address that on the persons talk page. To do so elsewhere could come across as demeaning or aggressive. I think most people will be more likely to listen if you address it in private.
  • Second, the rules about editting talk pages are to prevent someone from changing what they or another editor said so that the talk pages can remain coherent. My edit in no way changed what I said. In fact, I only changed it because I forgot that there was a section in between where we were talking and where I was referring to. All I did was add a link making the old text show up in blue so no one would have to go scrolling for the link. This was extremely minor. Things like this and spelling / syntax fixes seem to be common on talk pages. A current example: this page. The rule is so that the information does not change. Fixing punctuation, spelling, or links should not merit a reprimand. Typos will happen and editors should be allowed to fix them. Mohnzh say what? 20:18, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

And who exactly are you supposed to be?[edit]

I have never read a comment from you before on this wiki, MiraLantis, or if I have it must not have been memorable or significant enough for me personally to associate your name with that comment.

However...

That is in no way a reason for me to take what you are saying less seriously and treat your comments as inferior or suspect simply because I don't know who you are. You may well have been here for a while, and I simply haven't had a chance to stumble upon your edits before. It's a large wiki after all; for instance, I don't even really know who the two most recently appointed sysops are! And even if you are actually new here, your opinions may well be more worth reading than those of Oldtime Editor One or Wiki Grandfather Two, for whom I can predict even the punctuation they'll be using in their comments.

You've probably guessed by now that this is in reference to your comment at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2008-04 bureaucrat election#Failure:

@Inspired - first of all, it's really hard to take what you're saying with a grain of salt, since frankly, I've never heard of you. Still, even though you've been at the wiki for less than a month (so less people are inclined to believe you) I'm glad to see passion in your text and hope that once you establish yourself here that you'll rally for positive changes. (cont)

I really think that is a state of mind that should be avoided, it hurts you by depriving you of a variety of opinions and arguments.

And of course, it's a simply rude remark to make, dismissing someone before even giving them a chance simply because their edit count is low. That's the complete opposite message that we as a community should be giving our editors, particularly those that are new here, without whom this place would stagnate. (Fortunately, Inspired seems to be handling this with maturity.)

Just my opinion; hopefully it will resonate with you.

Thanks, --Dirigible 23:37, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I was honest about my disbelief and offered the user a hopeful compliment as well as my support. I don't understand, nor see, rudeness in this remark at all, and apologize that you have taken it this way. Perhaps reading the whole of the conversation would help? Anyways, I apologize for the misunderstanding, but that was a positive comment regarding the beef Inspired was getting for his own comments, to remark on why he was getting it, and to mention his passion for the wiki (else he wouldn't have been making so many comments himself). I hope that you do not truly believe that this defense of a new member is a state of mind that should be avoided. MiraLantis 04:34, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll just respond here to the above and to your comments on my talk page. First, the above may be a little harsh since regardless of how that comment was taken, I can think of many worse reasons for my opinions to be rejected then because I'm new. Anyway, I realize I injected myself into some of these discussions in a fairly significant way and that will sometimes result in push back. I can handle whatever comes my way for it and that is fine. If I deserve it, I accept it as such; if I don't feel I do, I'll point that out. Additionally, to your point of being "new" you actually were partially right with the way it did come out and that is fine and I learned a lot about the way this wiki works through those discussions and hopefully the other users learned some of how I worked. And, reading the above, apparently I have you to thank for some of that so...Thanks.
To my calling you out on changing your opinion. I agree it wasn't very nice, and I hope you understand it wasn't meant as a character attack, but rather used as an example of the problem with the policy. While I can't say I won't do the same thing in the future, I do hope you're not on the other end of my examples. Similarily, you said that "I hope that you realize that in elections, you have to do what is best for the wiki" and I would just say that was hopefully the point of what everything I said. In my opinion, the best possible outcome for this election was not which candidate won, but is still being determined and that will occur this election moves us to a consensus on how elections will be decided in the future. So, you can help me and everyone on this wiki, including yourself, by expressing your opinion on the various election policy change proposals being floated. -- Inspired to ____ 15:00, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
I knew your passion would result in good changes for the wiki! I will indeed take a look at proposed policy changes. I was wondering what thoughts you had on what has been said and done regarding them so far, Inspired? I'm curious, of course, what the community thinks (while you are not the community, you are a member of it and therefore can help cement its opinion.) Thanks, and I look forward to your positive editing! MiraLantis 07:29, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
The most important thing to me in an election is that it actually goes like the policy says it should. So, actually with any change I would expect us to improve on that. Which isn't to say a change can be made; and I definitely do have views and thought on how it is changed, and have posted a lot of in this section and above it. -- Inspired to ____ 16:36, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
