Puppet Master(Discussion)

The Puppet Master lives in a fantasy world. and wants every one to live in a fantasy world too. But The Master doesn't want you to live in your own fantasy. The master wants you to live in his/her twisted fantasy. Don't Worry the Puppeteer Will give you a show.

Story Line I only know a little about the story in GW2 so this is based on what I know about GW2 and how I think the Puppet Master would fit in the game. After the Ancient dragons awake from there long slumber all the races where pushed out of there homes. All of the races suffered from the rise of the dragons but none as much as the humans. Constantly hunted and killed the humans had a hard time surviving in this new world. Having to move quickly allot of humans died trying to make it to Kryta. Most of the time rangers or assassins would scout the area to see if it was clear for the group to pass. but more ofter then not they would not have bean able to see the Charr or some other monster waiting for them. For one band of humans this was some thing they could not afford to happen. they where carrying supplies to a near by camp and knew sooner or later some thing would try to stop them. One of the Magic user Had a plan, to animate a doll to drive any foe out of hiding. But She knew that they wouldn't fall for such a childish trick so she used powerful magics to cloak its true appearance. Some Charr tried to ambush the doll but found them selves getting ambushed them selves. Soon after that The Magic of Animating inanimate and cloacking became common practice amongst humans. Soon after the other race became aware of this unique use of magic and started training in the art of Puppet Mastery.

I know the Puppet Masters story is not that great but its just a ruff idea. All I know that it's gonna be 'extremely' funny. I can just imagine Pinocchio running around killing Charr! Hah! User:MoasRule

Attributes:

  • Pulling strings (Primary)- Decreases the damage shared between you and your puppet by X% for every point. With 0 in this you will take 100% of the damage of your puppet and vise versa. Note if your puppet gets KOed all your skills will be disabled for X seconds (based on your level in Pulling strings) and when you can use your skills again your puppet will revive on its own.
  • Claw Mastery- Raises damage with claws and the chance to land a critical hit. Many skills become more effective with higher levels in this attribute.
  • Smoke and Mirrors- Uses magic to promote fear in the heart of the enemy. Nothing in this attribute deals damage. This attribute plays some times childish or visual tricks on the foe to divert their attention.
  • Masking the truth- Uses magic to create illusions to motivate you and your allies to keep fighting. Most of the Puppet Masters healing skills come form this attribute. Note: you can make your ally think that they are alive so they can keep fighting. Damage negating skills are also in this attribute.

Primary information

  • The Puppet would act as a two handed item with an armor rating matching yours. Stronger puppets not only come with better armor, but provide you with better armor as well. Armor rating that the puppet adds ranges between 2 and 15. The puppet also has the same health as you.
  • The Puppet would also be able to equip weapons and off-hand weapons adding the bonus of the weapons to its master. This also explains the Claw Mastery attribute.
  • The Puppet Master would use their puppet to apply and use close ranged skills. Example- Touch skills would be used like this.
  • If you move when your puppet is attacking the puppet will come back to you.

Other information

  • The Puppet Master would have a armor rating and energy regeneration of any normal magic user class with a the same minimum energy as well. Their armor would look like a Jester with face paint or mask (similar to the Mesmer But more violent, blank, or evil.)
  • The Puppet itself would look like a wooden puppet at the lower levels but as you get farther in the game the puppets will get more original and funnier/scarier. Bosses would some times drop a puppet that looks like the boss. A puppet would be a bit bigger then what its a puppet of with exception of bosses and old heroes.
  • The Puppet Master would have unusual skill like 'Uncontrollable laughter' which would force the foe to use the Laugh emote. Which If it fails the foe has a note over his/her head saying "I don't get it.".

Strengths

  • The Puppet Master is unaffected by conditions the puppet is suffering
  • The Puppet Master's Puppet will use touch skills in the Masters place.
  • The Puppet is not affected by Bleeding, poison, disease, blind, dazed and are unaffected by hexes targeting them.
  • The Puppet Master can prevent damage to him/her self and his/her allies through enchantments and hexes.
  • The Puppet provides damage reduction.

Weaknesses

  • If the Puppet Master is blind the puppet has a 90% chance to miss.
  • all hexes that target the puppet go to the master(so anything that reduces attack speed and hit percentage will affect the Puppet.)
  • the Puppet stops attacking if you are using a skill with an activation time.(chants, spells signets, etc.)
  • Burning lasts twice as long on a puppet(because there made of wood and fabrics).
  • Skills like Empathy and Spiteful Spirit Will have the same effect on a Puppet Master as it would a normal melee fighter.
  • when the Master dies the puppet also dies.
  • If the Puppet dies the master is a sitting duck because all of His/Her skills are disabled.
  • If a hex like Pacifism is used on the Puppet Master the Puppet will die and will not revive until the hex ends. But when the hex ends your skills audiometric recharge and your puppet revives with its previous health.
  • if a puppet is right next to its master and a Dervish is using a scythe the Puppet and the Master will be taking allot more damage then if didn't have a puppet. If you get into this situation it would be hard to get out of because if you run your puppet will follow very closely.
  • A new condition could be added to make them even weaker. I've bean thinking about it for some time now and i think it fits. Corrosion; when under the effect of this condition you attack 30% slower and deal -10 damage. If a Puppet is under this condition it Moves and attacks 30% slower and deals -15 Damage.

  • Reasons: The reason I didn't make the Puppet usable by all professions is so the Puppet master would not be an undesirable primary profession. Think about it if the puppet could be used by every one who would want that little bonus for its primary? Not many people I tell you what. You would get Heavy attack based assassins with a double survivability rate. Anouther reason is I wanted to give people the same option they have with every other profession. The ability to dump all of there skill point in to 2 attributes. If I had made the Pulling strings a secondary attribute they the Puppet Master would be forced to put there points in to 3 category's to make full use of the puppet. The last reason is I have already made the profession a good choice as a secondary for any profession.
  • Example:"Sounds a bit like a Pet Ranger + Mesmer? Bit extremely specialised in my opinion"
Please put your opinions in the discussion section of this suggestion. I would appreciate it.
Why this is a good idea
  •  Would be an unusual caster class.
  •  Would make people double take on the game.
  •  Would be a revitalizing new take on the game.
Why it may not work out
  •  The balance of this profession could be hard to do.
  •  Could be hard to animate the puppets of some monsters.
