Defiant Was Xinrae Defiant Was XinraeXinrae's Weapon Xinrae's Weapon

RitualRitualistDoll's Issue -- 08:22, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Issue
Communing was a weak line to begin with, Restoration was fine without two new elites that don't add anything new.
Suggestion
Remove Life Stealing from both spells, we do not need a strange Elite Item Spell version of Unholy Feast nor do we need another Weapon of Remedy. In place of the Life Stealing, extra health would work well with the anti-spike nature of these skills, as well as being consistent with the Communing line of spells (Vital Weapon, Signet of Binding)
Defiant was Xinrae should also stop damage at 5%, or both should be brought to reduce to 10%, and should not be close to maintainable. (15 recharge & 10 duration for instance for Defiant, 4 duration & 10 recharge for Weapon for example)
Reasoning
Spirits have less health than before, and skills that aren't Binding Rituals in this Communing usually affect them, or Weapon Spell buffs. The change to the Xinrae spells was a good direction for them, except for the attribute switch. Shelter is the only other Ritualist skill that stops damage at a % point. It is in Communing, these spells also belong in Communing, not only to validate the attribute outside of spirit spamming, but to keep consistency with other Ritualist skills.

Shard's Issue 00:36, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Issue
Making these skills copies of badly designed skills doesn't make them cool or viable.
Solution
Change them back, then make them usable.

5 Energy¼ Activation time15 Recharge time - (Communing) Hold Xinrae's ashes for 1...12...15 seconds. While holding her ashes, whenever a foe casts a spell on you, that spell is disabled on that foe and his allies for an additional 20 seconds."

10 Energy¼ Activation time20 Recharge time - (Spawning Power) "For 1...4...5 seconds, whenever target ally becomes the target of an enemy spell, that spell fails and is disabled on all foes for 5...17...20 seconds."

Dark Morphon's Issue 11:38, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Issue
I don't know why another copy of Weapon of Remedy was added. One was already enough. The weapon spell is fine I suppose.
Suggestion
Revert Weapon of Xinrae to what it was and buff the stats so that it will actually be worth taking.

Better as Communing

Issue
While these are clearly more useful after the recent buff, they don't fill in any gaps and only make restoration magic more powerful and communing less so.
Suggestion
Change them back to communing and change them so they're somewhere between the old and new versions (i.e. still useful but not purely restoration-like). For example:
Defiant Was Xinrae Defiant Was Xinrae. 10 Energy 1 Activation time 20 Recharge time.
Elite Item Spell. Hold Xinrae's ashes for up to 5...17...20 seconds. While you hold her ashes, skills used against you cannot deal more than 20% of your max Health and if they are spells they also take 10...42...50% longer to cast and recharge. When you drop her ashes, all adjacent foes are interrupted. (Attrib: Communing).
Something a bit like this would still be useful defensively (though only against spells, admittedly) as it is now but have some extra functionality as it used to have. To compensate for this, I would suggest increasing cost and decreasing duration.
This also fits the theme of being defiant better as you "defy" your foes' spells by slowing them, taking less damage from them and making them take longer to recharge.
Xinrae's Weapon Xinrae's Weapon. 5 Energy 1/4 Activation time 10 Recharge time.
Elite Weapon Spell. For 8 seconds, the next time target ally would be affected by an enemy skill, that skill fails and takes 20...84...100% longer to recharge (max 10 seconds extra recharge). (Attrib: Communing).
Currently, we have Weapon of Remedy which has nearly exactly the same function of this skill (only it removes a condition at the cost of limiting the damage to 5%) and plenty of other similar RoF-like skills. A use more like this would mean it stayed similar enough to these skills to be useful (it can still be used to prevent damage from skills et.c.) but give it a more unique and powerful use in preventing foes from using their skills again, as it did in the old days but now with the ability to affect all skills.
Since this could have dangerous shutdown powers, I would suggest the recharge also be increased, but it need not go as high as the old Xinrae's Weapon since it now only works on one skill (and also it was useless as it was with such a long recharge).

These changes, or changes like them (they're just ideas and examples, really) would mean the skills were still useful defensively, allowing Communing rits to provide some support or go as a Communing/Restoration split healer or somesuch, but not duplicate already existing skills and still be useful in builds which are more agressive in nature.

Lancy's Suggestion 20:30, August 30 2008 (UTC)

Issue
-Another Weapon of Remedy...what?
-Giving ritualists an anti-spike move
-Two suggestions; one for communing and one for restoration magic
Suggestion

10 Energy1 Activation time15 Recharge time - (Restoration Magic) - Elite Item Spell. "Hold Xinrae's ashes for 10...22...25 seconds. While holding her ashes, your Restoration Magic skills activate 50% faster, incoming damage is reduced to 10% of your maximum health and gain +10 maximum Energy. When you drop her ashes, all allies within earshot are healed for 15...79...95 Health."

10 Energy1 Activation time15 Recharge time - (Restoration Magic) - Elite Item Spell. "Hold Xinrae's ashes for 10...22...25 seconds. While holding her ashes, incoming damage is reduced to 25...13...10 of your maximum health and gain +30 maximum Energy. When you drop her ashes, all allies within earshot are healed for 15...79...95 Health."

See Courageous Was Saidra.

5 Energy¼ Activation time8 Recharge time - (Communing) - Elite Weapon Spell. "For 3 seconds, target ally cannot take more than 5% from a single attack or spell and gains +20...44...50 maximum health."

5 Energy¼ Activation time8 Recharge time - (Restoration Magic) - Elite Weapon Spell. "For 3 seconds, whenever target ally takes damage from an attack or spell, that damage is limited to 5% of the target ally's maximum health and that ally also steals 5...29...35 health when struck in combat."

In repsonse to the item spell, you do realize that monks in PvP would be dead, because there'd be no reason not to run a completely unspikable monk that can party heal every 15 seconds. Rt/Me would be the new backline standard. 128.255.216.144 22:11, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

More Offensive Suggestion

Issue
Same as above.
Suggestion
There are some reasonable good ideas above, but I wanted to suggest something slightly more offensive (though still in a support role).
Xinrae's Weapon Xinrae's Weapon. 10%Sacrifice 1 Energy 0.5½ Activation time 12 Recharge time.
Elite Weapon Spell. For 8 seconds, the next time a foe uses a skill on target ally, that skill fails. Target ally also steals 10...58...70 health from that foe, and that foe is knocked down. (Attribute: Communing).
The idea here is that it can be used in a similar way to how it can be now, with the lifesteal healing up your target in an RoF-like manner, so it can still be used to heal/support. However, it provides an alternative to traditional RoF-like skills (i.e. RoF, RoD, VW and WoR) since it knocks down the target and steals health, being more offensive (like RoD) at the cost of a slightly higher recharge and the fact that it only triggers on skills. Furthermore, it has a health sacrifice cost instead of an energy one. Thus, if you or your healers are strained for energy, you can still stop spikes and whatnot in emergencies. This also fits better on a Comming support character since healers don't really want to injure themselves (other than when infusing, ofc) since they are most often the ones targetted. Anyway, just an idea.

P.S. MOVE IT BACK TO COMMUNING! Please.
