Lamentation does conditional damage only after expending energy on other skills (e.g. killing your target). Its long activation and recharge time makes it impractical for spiking too. There are skills like Spirit Burn which does more damage in a single hit and less conditional. The fact that you can use Spirit Burn 4 times in 22 seconds compared to 2 for lamentation shows how much this skill needs to be changed. --Don Knowall 09:53, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

If GW balance opposes making this a spirit heal, they could at least make this thing an AoE earshot damage around the corpse. I thought Lamentation was supposed to be a real loud wail, so that might fit...I'd rather have the spirit healing though. :) - Elder Angelus 15:28, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
We really don't need any more skills that heal spirits. I don't know why everyone wants them. Signet of Binding gives additional health (in the short life-span of a spirit they're about the same thing) and no one clamors over that. Making it a Binding Ritual would be interesting, but it should probably keep it's current corpse trigger (Double damage to foes within earshot of a corpse?)), and the 2 second casting time is...one second off, unless it needs a spirit to be sacrificed like Gaze of Fury... Why not, this class was created like flexible, so it probably could. Rits can blind, inflict burning, knock down, interrupt, steal life, heal and many other things, crippling could add more flexibility --Kigamo 19:23, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Flexibility is the reason that this skill was nerfed, you know. Having a class that can do anything they like leads to nerfs, and Channeling and Restoration are both fairly powerful and independent of Spawning. xP Adding a new condition would be too much. 66.202.1.169 22:03, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Dont be afraid, it will never happen =P. Izzy dont reads this, so it will be only my unbound fantasy.There shouldn't be a ritualist class in Factions. Anet can simply add a new talent to a necromancers like:

Ritualism: This attribute gain necromancers acces to a nice number of party offensive/defensive support. Ah, you can also call to some spirits...Life or Recovery for example. Do you really think that you can use some 5 seconds activation 25 energy spirits?? Haha, that is a bad joke, because it sounds really unbalanced. --Kigamo 20:00, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm not afraid of it, because making bad suggestions that wouldn't ever be used. Even if another snare is put in to Ritualists, it'd have to be in Communing because otherwise they'd have 2 attributes that can snare in a class that shouldn't have any powerful snares. =\ And I'm not really sure why you're trying to make jokes, making awful suggestions doesn't really set you up for it. My suggestion is not awful, rits already could snare using Binding chains, but it is too conditional, and plz dont judge me or my suggestions. That is my oppinion, up there is yours, this is a discussion, not an arena... --Kigamo 11:00, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm not judging you, I'm telling you that the suggestion doesn't fit with Ritualists as a class. Comparing a Hex and a Condition doesn't make much sense either, especially when the skills are in two different attributes. Bathory 18:11, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Rits already have many weak damaging spells, like Renewing Surge, Spirit Burn, that are rarely used. I thoght it would be interesting to add smth new. But seems you are right. Do you think this class is broken? --Kigamo 14:57, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
No, I don't. Weapon spells can't be removed, but they also can't be stacked. None of them really do anything too powerful, even before some of them got nerfed. Same with Item spells, which are actually worse off because you can only use them on yourself. Spirits are easily killed, which makes up for their long range and allows people with good placement to use them well. But all classes have limitations, they cause certain conditions and not others. They can do certain things well and others not at all. Ritualists don't cause Cripple. It doesn't fit with other skills nor does it fit with the class as a concept, just like they don't influence hexes at all. They don't remove them, and they shouldn't be able to stunt their durations. Channeling is more powerful than Smiting in most cases, and Communing (which strikes me as a Ritualist's Protection line with spirits like Shelter and Union that compare with Monk enchantments like Protective Spirit and Shielding Hands) deals a lot more damage but doesn't do damage mitigation as well. I'm kind of rambling now, but overall Ritualists are meant to be a more offensive class than Monks, but adding Cripple makes them too versatile and lends them too much utility...
