Replace passage scrolls with NPCs[edit]
- Replace Passage Scrolls to The Deep and Urgoz's Warren with an NPC that serves the same purpose.
- Consider doing the same for Passage Scrolls to The Fissure of Woe and The Underworld with an NPC that serves the same purpose.
- Passage costs should be comparable to current scroll values (e.g. 100-200 for Deep/Urgoz and 1000-3000 for FoW/UW). Or they can be reset to an appropriate amount as relatively minor gold sinks.
Locations[edit]
- Urgoz/Deep NPCs would be located in Embark Beach, Guild Halls, Cavalon (Deep only), and House zu Heltzer (Urgoz only).
- UW/FoW NPCs would be located in EB and the three ascension towns (e.g Temple of the Ages).
- When the world has favor, players can still summon the relevant avatars of the gods for cheaper transit.
Housekeeping[edit]
- Replace automatic drops of passage scrolls from end-chests with a relevant rare material (e.g. Amber, Jade, Onyx, Diamond).
- Replace foe drops from bosses with gold XP scrolls.
Background[edit]
There's little point to the scroll mechanism for transportation to the Factions elite areas: the market price is nearly always 200 and they are always available. The need to use scrolls confused people unnecessarily and adds an unnecessary step to the process. As it is, people work around the costs in a variety of ways.
There's slightly more point to scrolls for UW/FoW; the world doesn't always have favor. However, it still adds an unnecessary step (buying scrolls from the NPC). To mimic the market, raise the costs of passage to something close to the standard price at the NPC when the world lacks favor, approximately 1.5-2.5 .
