  3. Support, but I didn't think GuildWiki used it, PNGs definitely don't scale correctly there (and it isn't listed with the other extensions on the version page). --Rainith 19:45, 14 February 2007 (PST)

  6. Support. PNG should be our standard format in many cases. --NieA7 01:58, 15 February 2007 (PST)
  7. PNGs look like newspaper at any sort of scale without this — Skuld 02:03, 15 February 2007 (PST)

Discussion[edit]

Guildwiki doesn't use ImageMagick?[edit]

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the issues with PNG scaling were fixed around the time that the image naming problems were fixed. Does it still have trouble with PNG? S 21:02, 14 February 2007 (PST)

IE support for PNGs is bad, particularly before IE7, which attributes to at least some of the issues. Lojiin 21:05, 14 February 2007 (PST)
This is a server-side issue Lojiin, and it's caused because PHP uses the GD library's for scaling by default, which is not fantastic. To answer Stabber's question, I don't know! I had given up using PNGs on the GuildWiki. LordBiro 01:47, 15 February 2007 (PST)
I know that the issue w/resizing PNGs has not been fixed on GuildWiki, and AFAIK ImageMagick isn't installed either. --Rainith 09:16, 15 February 2007 (PST)

Installation[edit]

This add-on was installed as of today. --Emily Diehl 18:08, 8 March 2007 (EST)

WOOHOO!! --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:08, 8 March 2007 (EST)
Uh-oh .... I'm seeing the message "Error creating thumbnail:" in several places now. :-( --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:18, 8 March 2007 (EST)
If you can provide links to those pages, I will pass the issue on to IT. --Emily Diehl 18:36, 8 March 2007 (EST)
On second thought, I see the issue. I will send this to IT immediately. Thanks for pointing this out, Barek. --Emily Diehl 18:46, 8 March 2007 (EST)
It appears to be an issue with resizing an image to smaller than the original (I should've realised that - it mentions "thumbnail" in the error). When left at original size or enlarged, it displays correctly. Not sure why it only impacts some images and not others - if I have another break here, I could test more to see if I spot a pattern. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:16, 8 March 2007 (EST)
It looks like any attempt to create a reduced sized image (thumbnail) after about 1:25pm PST results in the error. Was that the approximate time that the extension was added? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 19:47, 8 March 2007 (EST)
IT is aware of the issue and currently working on fixing it. --Emily Diehl 19:51, 8 March 2007 (EST)

ImageMagick issue[edit]

There is currently an issue that is keeping this add-on from functioning properly. IT is currently looking at the problem, and has diabled this add-on for the time being. For this reason, I am going to move it back to "pending install" on the main technology requests page, and keep it there until I get word that everything is good to go. --Emily Diehl 20:37, 8 March 2007 (EST)

Issue resolved, Image Magick re-enabled[edit]

As of today, these prior issues should be resolved. If anyone encounters any other bugs, please report them so we can check out the issues. --Emily Diehl 14:40, 22 March 2007 (EDT)
