- See Kilroy Stonekin for your reward
Reward[edit]
- 3,000 Experience
Walkthrough[edit]
Find Kilroy Stonekin in Grenth's Footprint, just south west of exit from Deldrimor War Camp, and escort him to Sorrow's Furnace. Along the way you'll face a number of Stone Summit bosses, but nothing difficult. Kilroy will stay in the rear, and neither attack nor be attacked.
After you enter Sorrow's Furnace and speak to Kilroy, he will begin to run ahead of you through the caverns. Your objective now is to keep him alive. If Kilroy Stonekin dies, you lose the mission and will be teleported back to Deldrimor War Camp. If you exit the Furnace without completing the quest, Kilroy gets teleported to where you first found him in Grenth's Footprint, and you'll have to start again.
The mobs in the Furnace are fairly easy. Just watch that the Priests of Sorrows don't resurrect the dead Stone Summit.
A couple of times Kilroy will start fighting without you, but mostly he'll run to the next checkpoint and wait for you to catch up to him. You normally have time to pick up loot, and, as you draw near to the next checkpoint, to check out the composition of the mob ahead and to cast enchantments before you walk up to Kilroy and start the fight. If you want to stay on the safe side, pick up loot during each battle and keep following Kilroy, who will begin to run to the next checkpoint as soon as all foes around him are dead.
Selecting his name and pressing spacebar to follow comes in handy.
In the final part of this quest, there will be three mobs facing you. Stay with Kilroy — he'll run for the monk boss, Gulnar Irontoe.
When Kilroy stops at his "checkpoints" and waits for you to catch up, it is possible to sneak past him, thus allowing your party to eliminate remaining enemies (including Irontoe) without him engaging.
NPCs[edit]
Bosses[edit]
- 28 (30) Gulnar Irontoe → Mark of Protection
Dialogue[edit]
Initial dialogue[edit]
Kilroy Stonekin
- "I'm the only one left to avenge the deaths of my brothers and sisters at the hand of the Summit. Gulnar Irontoe is going to taste cold steel before this day is through, or I won't be alive to regret it. When I think about him standing over their bodies.... It just makes me...makes me...so angry! Enough standing around! It's time for action! Are you with me?"
Intermediate dialogue[edit]
When the first chest spawns:
- Kilroy Stonekin (speech bubble): "Ah, here's a little something for your trouble!"
When the second chest spawns:
- Kilroy Stonekin (speech bubble): "More trinkets! Help yourself!"
When Gulnar Irontoe is defeated and the third chest spawns:
- Kilroy Stonekin (speech bubble): "Ah, here's a little something for your trouble!"
Reward dialogue[edit]
Kilroy Stonekin
- "Thank you, friend. I've been seeking revenge for so long now, I'm not sure what to do next."
Notes[edit]
- At three times during this quest, an unlocked chest will spawn. Opening it will reveal one to three purple items assigned to random party members within compass range.
- This is a fairly easy repeatable quest with a 3,000 experience reward. Characters farming the Survivor title without other players may use this quest for cheap, easy experience. Note that sometime the hardest part of this quest can be getting from Kilroy in Grenth's Footprint into Sorrow's Furnace. Having good running and survival skills can be critical during this part.
Trivia[edit]
- Kilroy appears in Guild Wars: Eye of the North, as well as Gulnar Irontoe's brother, Fronis.
- Kilroy has a special shout: "Kilroy Stonekin".
- Kilroy Stonekin is a reference to the popular internet meme from World of Warcraft, "Leeroy Jenkins".
