Pink Day in LA 2011

Pink Day in LA 2011 has been confirmed. Once again the event will take place in the international districts of Lion's Arch.
What Is Pink Day in LA?
Pink Day in LA is a charity fundraising event, hosted within Guild Wars. Its aim is to raise support and awareness for breast cancer during October (breast cancer awareness month). The event is currently supported and organised by the Gaming World Entertainment Network and Gamers Giving Back.
Pink Day in LA History

The first Pink Day in LA took place on June 16th 2007 and was followed up with an event in 2008. The original organisers could not commit to hosting the event in 2009. In 2010 GW-EN and Gamer's Giving Back revived the event and raised over $11,000 for the Cancer Canadian Society, surpassing the original goal of $1,337. This was only achieved due to the generosity, support, and awesomeness of the Guild Wars community.
What happens during the event?
First and foremost, everyone wears pink!
In 2010 ArenaNet added the pink dye vendor Rosa Salvitas especially for the event. ArenaNet has also included Rosa in this years event.
Just like other in-game events, districts will be hosted by various guilds, alliances and groups. There will be in-district games, trivia and give-aways. On-air trivia (GW-EN Radio) and there will be a few other ways to get involved this year. There is also a chance to win some prizes outside of the game by donating a minimum of $10 (CND). GM Presence
In 2010, Emily Diehl and other GM's travelled through the districts and mentioned that the event was community run. Emily was also wearing Pink to support the event.

ArenaNet at Comic Con
During the Guild Wars 2 panel at Comic Con (2011), Colin Johanson (Lead Content Designer for Guild Wars 2), announced Pink Day in LA. Asking for people to get involved and show their support for the event.
Donations
This years goal is to raise $13,370.00
All donations go directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. To make a donation and to be in with a chance to win some exciting prizes, visit the official donation page.

This year, with the help of Gaming World Entertainment Network and more, Pink day in LA will make a grand comeback!
Hello Again everyone!
Consider this an open invitation to our next fundraiser in Guild Wars! On be-half of the Canadian Cancer Society and Gamers Giving Back, we are reviving Pink Day in LA in support of Breast Cancer Research and Awareness (with the permission of Mister Pink aka Master Saji, of course!) The event will be on October 16th from 12pm-6pm Mountain Standard Time (GMT -6) in the International Districts!

Sadly, with real life taking over for most of the [DRGN] members, Pink Day in LA 2009 passed us by with no event, but don't give up hope, because there's always next year.
Pink Day in LA '08
Introduction
Well, guys and gals, it's about that time of year again. Saji here and I'm going to give you a little information about this year's, Pink Day in LA.
- We're going with the theme that, "Gamers Care Too." Why? Well, with all the recent news stories about how people who play video games, especially violent ones, are bad people, and when a crime is committed, such as a shooting, you will no doubt hear about how the person was playing the newest Grand Theft Auto game, or some other violent game. But, obviously, not everyone who plays games is violent or bad. We're doing this event this year to show others that an online community with players from around the world can get together and support a worthy cause. We want to show the world that GAMERS CARE TOO!
- Now, remember last year, where I gave a little speech on the subject of Breast Cancer? Well, it was awkward, trying to get people's attention with others constantly spamming. So, this year, there won't be any big speech on the subject, but instead, DRGN is making a site dedicated to informing gamers about Breast Cancer risks, treatments, and more. Check it out over at the Pink Day in LA Website
- "But what about in-game?" - I hear you ask. Well, to show support, like last year, we want everyone to get their armor decked out in brilliant pink. We want to see everyone in the district wearing pink, but, you'll have to supply your own dye! Sadly enough, last year we had many people take the free handouts of dye for granted, along with the fact we had rude players who interfered with other aspects of the event (such as the end photo-ops).

Master Saji and DRGN (Draconus Reincarnatus) would like to give a big THANK YOU to all those who made it to this year's Pink Day event. Although some would have liked to see more districts full, we are humble in the thought that the event lasted far longer than we could have expected. This was due to a great and beneficial partnership with Blade Radio, along with the KISS and LaZy Alliances. Their determination to make Pink Day bigger than it could ever be proved to be an invaluable part in the Pink Day planning, and DRGN looks forward to working with them again. How long will Pink Day last? Pink Day will last for two hours, ending at 2:00 PM EDT.
Trivia
Something new for Pink Day, DRGN "Trivia Masters" will be in each International District ready to ask questions that players may answer for sweet treats and/or alcohol!
The questions our Trivia Masters will ask are all breast cancer-related and all answers can be found on the websites that are found on the Pink Day Website!
On a side note each Trivia Master will have one International Dist to themselves!
BladeRadio
BladeRadio, along with major alliances such as KISS, has offered their support in hopes of making Pink Day a much more grand event than DRGN could hope to achieve alone. We're glad to accept their help in making Pink Day bigger and better than last year and look forward to working with BladeRadio in the future!

How You Can Help
We can't do it alone, so we will take whatever help we can get to make Pink Day a bigger success than last year!
The best way one could contribute towards Pink Day is to show up in pink-dyed armor and be ready to answer trivia questions provided by our Trivia Masters!
Want to contribute more? We happily accept any contributions of sugar and/or alcohol items. The more we get, the more we can hand out on Pink Day! Be sure to get in contact with Master Saji via email or in-game (Master Grim Saji)!
Don't have pink armor? Low of sugar and alcohol? Fret not, you can still help DRGN! Go around to your favorite forums and bring them word of the Pink Day in LA event! But if you do, be sure to email Master Saji with a link so you can be recognized!

Pink Day in LA '08 Closing
Pink Day in LA '08 was a Big Success! Thanks to the Help of BladeRadio, The KISS Alliance, and LaZy we were able make this event better than ever by giving the community a chance to win some Fantastic Prizes for participating including over 250k in Gold, 4 Armbraces of Truthes, Ecto, Sweets, Alcohol and much more!

Pink Day in LA '07
Last year, on June 16th, 2007, a great event took place in the Lions Arch International Districts, under the watchful eye of DRGN. Pink Day in LA was a shot at showing others that gamers care about real-life situations. To do this, we wanted to help bring awareness to gamers about the facts and truths of Breast Cancer. In the end, it was a huge success. DRGN handed out dyes to help those without pink armor get in the mood and we would like to thank all the players who donated dyes to help out with this event.
During the event, we attempted to get as many people possible to dye their armor pink, to show support and we were successful. we got a total of three districts full of pink-armor wearing support!
And our message even broke the language barrier as we had a Taiwan GM promote the event, as well as translate the speech into Taiwanese!
We thank everyone who showed up for the event and dyed their armor pink! Stay cool, and keep pink!
