Talk:Clockwork Scythe
That looks really neat! Do the gears animate? :O --Redfeather 05:43, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- Nawww, unfortunatley not, but it still looks cool. ^_^ Still stoked about the r9 gold one I got last night. At this point as far as I hadn't seen one, I'm wondering whether this was released in a recent update or whether it's just really rare. --Talonz // 15:53, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
My god these are hard to find. I have been trying for 3 weeks to buy one. --Thi3rD 15:32, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I also have one[edit]
Well yeah I also found one yesterday but was too lazy too add the item to wiki :P
It came out an Hidesplitter's Chest. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Vectrox .

I just saw it drop from Oola's Lab end chest, req 12 but a happy guildie all the same! Thought i'd add it in for you guys. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 194.82.100.71 (talk • contribs) at 10:24, May 25, 2008 (UTC).
presumable not the case, but...[edit]

- It is actually possible to get one by clicking on inventory, looking at the top go to M.O.X (unlock at level 10) go to weapons attachment, drag off the clockwork scythe and add, in another one (You will want to have a spare for M.O.X as he starts of at level 20 and is a very valuable asset in later on missions!) You can equip the scythe to your self, you can also change the colour of the weapon, but you cannot add additional upgrades to the original ones already there.

actually it's not all that cool no animation super thin among other stuff but hey if i hada req9 i would keep it
i'm not feeling it. if the gears moved it would be pretty sweet. the design is interesting bt their are much better lookining weapons. especially in the scythe department, not to mention spears 99.202.102.131 08:16, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

you get them free with M.O.X now, i predict this going down in price soon

Inspiration[edit]
Could it be possible that this is inspired by the Greek Titan Kronos, god of time (and therefore clocks) who's weapon was also a scythe? --Elijah 10:31, 7 September 2008 (UTC) I guess its possibleLake Axel 15:31, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's more likely that it's got gears just because Oola is an engineer. -- Vorith (talk•contribs) 03:31, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Chronos was originally a harvest god (hence the scythe) but his name was misinterpreted at some point, because it meant 'Time'. Don't see the connection with the scythe itself, only with the name of it. Paddymew 14:47, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

Wish there were Clockwork swords?[edit]
I wish there were other clockwork weapons. Taka Ragranok 03:43, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
I wish there were more animated weapons in game[edit]
Rare items that glow like voltaic spear, or something that has moving gears or something with animation. Maybe GW2 will add some of that, hopefully with no collector's edition (read sold out/ or eBay 300 $ ) animated weapons.
Not to many, just a small handful of unique animated would be grand. I'm probably pushing the code developers maximum allowable system minimum requirements by bringing it up- but hey - they say i can swim and jump in GW2. cecil 01:53, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Drop Locations[edit]
Anyone have proof this has dropped in Rragars? Brian78wa talk 20:16, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Acquisition[edit]
Can anyone produce a screenshot of this dropping in Rragar's Menagerie? is for Raine, etc. 20:11, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Looking back through the edit history, it has been listed as dropping from Rragar's Menagerie for a long time, this information was first removed by 72.218.77.40 on 14:58, 11 January 2010, which was immediatly reverted. Then Raine preceeded to revert the revert, which got reverted. The bit of info about it dropping from that chest was added by 76.5.78.199 on 12 April 2008. --Draygo Korvan 20:16, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Vectrox also claims to have obtained it from that chest, earlier on this talk page. --Draygo Korvan 20:23, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- For a long time, Spirit Bond said it ended after 10 incoming attacks or spells; just because things have been a certain way for a long time does not mean that they are or have been correct. A listed drop isn't an observed drop. While it's pretty common knowledge that they drop in Oola's, no one I've ever spoken to has mentioned anything about getting or even seeing a Clockwork drop in Rragar's. Further, the people that I know that have maxed titles running that dungeon (myself included) haven't ever seen such a drop.
- I'm not sure who added it or when it was added, but it's against everything that anyone I've spoken to claims to know. I think it is safe to assume that it was added in error unless some sort of evidence comes up suggesting otherwise.
- Regarding Vectrox, the comment wasn't signed or dated, and they said they were too lazy to add it to the article. It hardly strikes me as something that screams "Factual!". Further, there's no accompanying screenshot. I'm not going to assume that he/she said that in bad faith, but I do think it's very possible that he was mistaken. is for Raine, etc. 20:28, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Just because something wasnt signed doesnt mean a particular user didnt make the comment, or you cant bother to look it up in the history Vectrox's Edit. Not seeing the drop ever happen is a good reason to bring it in question on the talk page with a good rational (i documented 100 drops from this chest, and none were the scythe etc), not start a revert war. --Draygo Korvan 20:37, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- I should add that the drop rate research page has it added in the drop rate research by User:Threid page Hidesplitter's_Chest/Research specific edit: [1], as Threid is still active on the wiki you can probably quiz him on it. --Draygo Korvan 20:45, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) I wasn't suggesting that he didn't make the comment, but rather that the comment is a significantly-less-than-painstaking "documentation" (and, alas, the only thing even resembling said documentation). I apologize for being unclear.
- If reverting on edit one time constitutes "starting a revert war", then I apologize for that, too. Regardless, I find your next comment pretty on point: "You should've brought it to the talk page with a good rationale". On that note, not seeing it happen, talking to several others who have never seen it happen, and having only
this one personthese two people who ever claimsto have seen it seem like strong arguments for the "It Didn't Happen" case. is for Raine, etc. 20:49, 8 February 2010 (UTC)- Ever seen a million dollars? No? must not exist. That is such a fail argument. Ever thought that its just extremely low drop rate? Ive been on 500+ polar bear runs never seen one. But they obviously exist. Brian78wa talk 20:57, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- That would be something true-ish if your analogy were anything like accurate.
- First, there's logical reasoning that a million dollars exists. There's also logical reasoning that polar bears exist. There's logical reasoning that Clockwork Scythes exist, too - they come from Oola's Chest. Just because a million dollars exists does not mean that you can get a million dollars by squeezing it from lemons. Just because polar bears exist does not mean that you can find them on Venus. Just because Clockwork Scythes exist does not mean that they can drop in Rragar's Menagerie. "I have not seen it so it must not exist" is a fail argument, but it is not my argument.
- Second, it's nice that you have been on 500+ polar bear runs and never seen one. That's pretty inconclusive; I think we can agree on that. However, where that differs is that someone else has seen one and screened/documented it. That is not the case here.
- Then there's The Numbers Issue. Congratulations on your 500 runs. Unfortunately, 500 is a relatively small number. The number of people that have done Rragar's without seeing a Clockwork drop is pretty staggering compared to "500+".
- I do not mean to say that it is impossible that Clockwork Scythes drop in Rragar's Menagerie, but I do see a big lack of conclusive evidence, and I don't think it should be listed in the article until that's no longer the case. is for Raine, etc. 21:18, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- My analogy is perfectly accurate. Just because you havent seen it drop in Rragars doesnt mean it hast. Others obviously have or it wouldnt be here to start. Brian78wa talk 21:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- "Just because you havent seen it drop in Rragars doesnt mean it hast."
- God exists because his existence can't be disproven, right? Once again, there's no logical necessity for Clockwork Scythes to drop here because their drops have already been confirmed elsewhere. If Clockwork Scythes never dropped anywhere other than Oola's Lab, there would be no logical shortcoming in their existence (read: bees can fly).
- "Others obviously have or it wouldnt be here to start."
- Bad edits, whether intentional or unintentional, never happen, right? Did you know that the person depicted in this skill icon appears to be Raditz from Dragonball Z, where Piccolo uses his Special Beam Cannon to kill him? Clearly, this is nothing on that scale, but not all information posted on this site is accurate, and it shouldn't be assumed as such. is for Raine, etc. 21:44, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Two individual accounts of it dropping from that chest is enough for me. At least for the information to remain in the article (with the dispute tag) till someone can either, provide a screenshot, or provide a significant drop sample to discount it as a probable drop. There is no reason to argue over logic, existance theory and the like. --Draygo Korvan 21:57, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- And Ravagers drop ecto, right? Vili 点 21:59, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- You do realize not everyone reports to wiki right? So you can't say that no one has ever seen it. Just because they don't post it here doesnt mean it didn't happen. I've always hated that attitude of "SS or it didn't happen".
- I can't say that no one has ever seen it, but until proof is furnished, you cannot say that is has, either. Further, I can say with a lot more certainty that an event with no evidence did not occur than you can say, with the same lack of evidence, that it did.
- Regardless, this is an encyclopedic resource. As such, it's important that it only state that confirmed information is confirmed. I doubt anyone would agree that we should keep things based on so very little as mainspace information. I'm not saying that we should remove it because it's "just plain wrong"; I'm saying that we should remove it because it's not "just plain right".
- I'm personally fine with leaving the disputed tag there until evidence is furnished, but I'd rather just remove the questionable piece of what may or may not be actual information. is for Raine, etc. 18:34, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- I don't believe any dungeon-end-chest-exclusive item (other than diamonds and onyx) drops from more than one different dungeon chest. It would be very odd if this was the only exception. If no one can corroborate this after the thousands of Rragar's chests that have been opened by wiki members, I doubt it drops from Rragar's. Manifold 04:11, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Has the question been posed to Regina to confirm? If the Live Team says it does not drop from that chest it can be removed. Otherwise we need to talk to User:Threid about his entry on the drop research page referenced above. For now, I suggest it remain disputed as is. -- Wyn talk 04:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Unless any proof can be shown of it's drop in Rragars, it should not be allotted a link as a drop. If it is allowed for this dungeon why not every dungeon as you have the same chance of it dropping in those too. As per thousands of users have never seen it drop.I have a friend who swears he saw a Leprechaun (sp?)but, I highly doubt that as well. E. Snow
- It's also possible that it previously dropped due to some drop table error/bug that was stealth corrected. I also highly doubt you have talked to 'thousands of users'. Anyway ill add an entry to Theid's talk page because no one else has yet. --Draygo Korvan 19:05, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I have run Rragars for a long time. Maxed vanguard titles on my rit/monk/sin/mes/and necro by running it. Having at least 5 party members in my group besides me at least it would only take 200 runs to substantiate my claim, that number of runs has been exceeded long ago. That's why I have such a hard time believe that it drops here. I put a 100k bounty for screen shot of an assigned clockwork scythe drop up on guru. No one has cashed in on it yet but anyone is more than welcome to try.E. Snow
- How do you upload a picture? I saw someone selling it in Kamadan and got a screen shot of it in a trade window. Gold, inscribable r12 scythe. She said it dropped for her in Oola's. Also, as of right now there are two of these scythes for sale on the auction guru. Also, consider the following: It would not make sense for Anet to develop a totally new scythe skin for use of M.O.X. exclusively... or in more recent days the pvp henchmen found in guild halls. 98.124.27.154 15:47, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- You're not understanding the problem, 98.124.27.154. No one doubts that the scythe exists, people are doubting that the scythe drops from the Rragar's Menagerie end chest and is not exclusive to the Oola's Lab end chest. -- FreedomBound 01:04, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I, too, used to run Rragar's a whole lot. I know it was enough to max vanguard rank on the character before I got tired and had enough gold to get what I wanted. I never, ever saw a clockwork scythe. Ever.174.108.82.105 17:21, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
