Secret Agent[edit]

The Consumables NPC in Hall of Monuments mentions that you can only buy from him if you're a Secret Agent, so I added him. The Armor NPC also mentions a rank but I don't remember what that was.Alovich 18:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Ranks[edit]

Stealth agent,Shadow agent, and Special agent are 3 of the ebon vanguard titles

Which one is which??

i believe:

consumables = 3 weaponsmith = 5 armorer = 7

Does anyone remember??

For the Norns, that is correct, so one can assume that it is the same for the Ebon Vanguard, Dwarves and Asuras.   User Riven sigicon.png    19:11, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
People keep adding special agent as rank 2, which seems highly implausible since it's required to access the armorer's services, and the Gunnar's Hold armorer requires Norn rank 7. Does anyone have a source for this, or is it just an mistake which is repeatedly made because the names of unknown rank titles were included in alphabetical order on earlier versions of the table? -- Gordon Ecker 03:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I've added a note to the table stating that everything beyond rank 1 is speculative, allowing speculative information to stay in the page isn't exactly ideal, but people are likely to keep re-adding it if it's removed, I don't want to get into a revert war and I don't think the edits warrent page protection. -- Gordon Ecker 00:42, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
A guidie of mine now has rank 5 and I've changed the ranks accordingly. Rank 6 is 'Underground Agent'. I guess this leaves a high possibility that Rank 7 is 'Secret Agent'. --Stanz 16:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Since official release...[edit]

Just like the Norn weaponsmith/armor trader reqs were scaled down, I'm assuming these were scaled down too. Norn is so much easier to farm than this, though, or maybe it's just me (or the nagging lack of sleep and nodding off while trying to farm). I got to rank 3 from the main quests, then farming Grothmawr Wardowns. I wouldn't recommend farming there, as there's only ~200 enemies, and it's not very good especially since ANet reduced the point bonuses (max now is ~100 instead of ~140 you could get before). Sorry if this doesn't make any sense; like i said, haven't slept in awhile. --onoes! Mafaraxas 13:42, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

The rankings go like this: Rank 3=consumables, Rank 4=weapons, Rank 5=armor. Ok, you have to be a shadow agent to get the armor, not secret agent. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:09:16, 11 April 2008 (talk).

Rebel Yell?[edit]

I know everyone is busy playing GW:EN but I really wanna know what rebel yell does. I am at work so no GW:EN for me until I get home. Jonny5v 13:46, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

It gives you 1...10 armor vs fire damage, 1...100% more adrenaline when you strike a charr, and you gain 2 energy whenever you kill a char. You don't actually have to strike the landing blow at all to get the +2 energy though; you just need to have been in the combat - the specific code is probably different than that, but that's the gist. --onoes! Mafaraxas 14:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahhh ok. When I get home I'm definitely working on getting the title track for Vanguard to see what the armor looks like. And they so need to make all headgears +1 to Item Attribute. Jonny5v 15:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Updated. now gives +X armor vs Charr, +X% more Adreniline from hitting charr and +x energy whenever you kill a char. -TehBuG-
Nope, still gives 2 energy, unscaled. -- NecromancerArkhar 16:42, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
oops ur right. the other parts are what i said above tho. -TehBuG-

Max?[edit]

Is 5 the max title? Jonny5v 15:50, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Likely no; I expect it'll go to 10 like norn and deldrimor titles do. I was just too lazy to add the generic table rows in for the rest of the ranks. --onoes! Mafaraxas 19:22, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Bug?[edit]

When i gained a new rank in this title i lost rebel yell until i went into my titles and took it off and put it back on. Has this happened to anyone else?--SlashingSword 14:02, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Not to me,--Renegade 14:03, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if it happened when I gained a rank, but I've definitely had it dissapear on me, and it could have been when I ranked up, can't recall. -- NecromancerArkhar 16:43, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Something similar would happen to me during the preview weekend. I would log off or zone with the Norn title on, and then my title would curiously be Guardian of Tyria? I don't know if its related, but it sounds similar. -- Alesain 17:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes it does seem to happen when you rank up in the middle of an explorable. You just have to deselect it and then reselect it. Maybe it simply can't automatically update the bonus to the new rank and thus you're required to do it manually? Liselle Morrow 13:52, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

No Mini-game?[edit]

Am I missing something? Why do the Vanguard have no mini-game associated to thier title-track? Asurans have polymock, which I suppose you could repeatedly play to gain rank (albiet slow). Norn have Bison's tourney, and the the Deldrimor have the punchout tournament (also both slow, but you see where I am going). Where's the repeatable Charr/Vanguard mini-game? -- Alesain 19:32, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

It doesn't exist. No vanguard mini-game.--24.206.111.186 19:33, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
The question was rhetorical actually, and was to incite discussion. -- Alesain 19:56, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
They seem to be quite single-minded about fighting the Charr. No fun and games. --Valshia 20:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
I think some kind of military training-related minigame wolud be appropriate. -- Gordon Ecker 22:17, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Like Charr-craft? -- Alesain 23:45, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm thinking CharrHammer, or even CharrHammer 40k. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 12:59, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

There are special quests regarding the Charr Battle Plans...Nicky Silverstar 12:06, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Are these repeatable? Dark Morphon(contribs) 14:53, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
They're repeatable in the sense that you can try them once for each Battle Plan you get, and you can get an infinite number of Battle Plans. Honestly, I'd think it better if there was a repeatable "Service:"-type training quest involving the allies you get in the EotN. Taking the new soldiers you trained on Charr raids or such. --Valentein 20:55, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, with the new Keiran missions I would say we have a rather good "mini-game":--Lordkrall 21:50, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Get ebon points in old Ascalon?[edit]

i think it would be nice if they added it so you could go around and kill charr in Ascalon if you have gwen and get the points for the track seeing as they have fewer zones then the rest of the tiles... --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:75.165.122.205 (talk).

The whole point of the Ebon Vanguard is being behind enemy lines. It makes no sense for them to be in Ascalon. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 16:38, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
you could say since the searing the lines have moved down just a bit...75.165.122.205 20:40, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, you could, but since the Ebon Vanguard was sent by the old King to go behind enemy lines to sabotage their supply lines and the fact that they're supposed to be stuck behind enemy lines kind of makes it a little difficult to accept (for me anyway). If you wanted to simulate the fact that Ascalon got conquered (I feel that's more GW2 territory than GW1, but anyway), I suppose it's acceptable, although they probably should create a new area rather than re-use the old areas. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 00:36, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Not to mention EotN appears 8 (or 9, can't remember) years after Prophecies so Ascalon is most likely completely destroyed. Also, unless my memory fails completely, in EotN you are stuck in the Far Shiverpeaks as the Asura gate you went through to get there was destroyed. — Galil Talk page 00:47, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

yea but if that where the case then anet wouldn't alow you to go back to the earlier parts of the game. or use those titles else ware. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:75.165.122.205 (talk).

If Anet followed the ingame story, we'd all be speaking some foreign language with the lol's and goldbots and whatnot. --click moar Mafaraxas 00:03, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
So you're saying that just because ArenaNet decided to allow players in different points of the storyline to meet up and play in the same locations they should also make it so that everything remotely plausible transfers over? So we get Ebon points in all Ascalon areas, since the Charr would conquer most of it. Kryta should get Kurzick/Luxon points too, since there are Kurzicks and Luxons there and they used to have a settlement there, GW2 would cut off sea travel so it makes sense. The Norn would spread through the Shiverpeaks so the whole of it should get Norn points. Dwarves died by the dozens in EotN so we probably shouldn't get Deldrimor points anymore. Yea, some of these are more far-fetched than yours but are you making this suggestion because you truly want to see some lore-based changes to Prophecies or do you just want more places where you can farm Ebon points? -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 01:47, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
The storyline in Then and Now, Here and There should be relevant here. Backsword 12:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I think I remember reading that Rebel Yell still works in Ascalon, just no bounties. could be wrong, because I don't see it there now.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 12:37, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Yep works. Could be useful in the titan quests. Backsword 12:39, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
That's HOT. I need to get my characters into prophecies ( I avoid the campaign these days because it sucks )- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 12:41, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

6000 points an hour[edit]

Once you have completed EOTN in HM, every time you acquire a Hero's Handbook in HM, it starts with 5 missions complete. The 3 quickest missions (A Time for Heroes, Curse of the Norn Bear and GOLEM) take about half an hour. You can than hand in your HHHM for 3,000 points. Rinse and repeat. Obviously works for all title tracks. Plank 05/06/2010

Additional Method[edit]

In Hard Mode, I start in Longeye's Ledge and run through Grothmar Wardowns into Sacnoth Valley, getting a bit less than 30 kills. In Sacnoth, I clear all the non-boss foes around the shrine within the charr base. I then proceed south and kill the groups of Grawl and Elementals, also clearing out the few charr hidden on the western edge of the map. I run about collecting kills until I reach about 100 - 150, at which point I return to the shrine at the entrance to the base. There are three bosses there, for a total reward of 225 - 300 Vanguard Reputation points for each boss you kill. Beyond the three bosses at the shrine, there is a fourth Charr boss near the east exit of the charr base that is fairly easy to kill. I typically recieve between 2,000 - 2,500 points per run doing this.~ A R A ~ 01:33, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Farming Rise[edit]

Running the numbers, the Rise mini-mission (which takes about 7 minutes to complete), gives about 10k an hour, plus 8 plat and drops. How does that compare to other methods? Guildwarsrunner 10:29, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Auspicious Beginnings[edit]

The requirement to complete Auspicious Beginnings is to kill the first and last group (the ones that start out non-hostile). If you run past every other group, you can complete the quest in 4 minutes flat, for 1250 points, 1k, and 5 war supplies per repeat. As long as you learn which enemies can inflict cripple, it is very easy to run to the end, and in the event you do get crippled and have to kill a group, it adds only a minute or less to the run. I believe that this is the fastest method to max the title, and it can be run as any class, without requiring a build or team.

One note-Miku usually won't make it to the end, so you'll be solo vs the last 3. This is usually fine, but some spawns can be difficult, especially if multiple enemies have a rez. ¬ «Ðêjh» (talk) 17:44, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

This is definitely the best way to farm it. I was able to consistently complete a run in 5 minutes which is 15000 points per hour. Also, 12 plat and 60 War Supplies...I was able to get another Oppressor weapon when I maxed rank.
You should only have to aggro 2-3 groups. Use Relentless Assault when you get crippled and Nature's Blessing against hexes or general healing. Also, when you get to Danthor don't stop. Just keep running and run past the 3 at the end. Right before you get to the portal they will break aggro and you can cripple/sniper shot/spam terminal velocity and rain of arrows as necessary until you pick them off.
Once I figured out the run I only died 3 times over the course of farming 100k+ points during a weekend event. Rookwood 17:43, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Annihilator[edit]

That isn't bad for farming, either. Barbe-Q Michael 07:51, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Eye of the North double reputation weekend.[edit]

This mini missions awards 2,500 points per run +1K and 5K XP. Very good to get max Vanguard title.

Also i have noticed that it drops alot of dyes in here, average 1 per run, but i've gotten sometimes 3 in 1 run.

Good place to farm runes too, drops a good % of mini vigors which sell for a good price. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hero (talk • contribs) at 11:40, 31 July 2011 (UTC).

New Method for Farming Reputation[edit]

I found another method for farming reputation points that I think is superior to using the quest Rise. It uses Auspicious Beginnings, another Hearts of the North quest. The reason this method is superior is because one uses either a Cupcake or a Green Rock Candy and runs all the way to the final mob. Using this method, .age tells me that the runs take about 5 minutes, instead of 8 minutes when fighting all of the enemy mobs using the normal way. Because the quest awards 1k gold and 5 War Supplies per run, it is still a net gain, and it is actually more profitable per hour to rush the quest than to do it the normal way.

Here is a video made by another GW player which shows the method. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQAO_7PQrSo

If others agree, I will gladly either add this method into the farming section, or replace the current farming information with the Auspicious Beginnings method. --XacTactX 17:49, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

I reckon you probably meant this video, as the one you linked seems to be fighting through "rise" :P Seems legit, add it by all means. -Chieftain Alex 18:22, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
