Any hints as to what the mini pet prize might be Gaile? :) --Lemming64 06:27, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Something very cool. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 06:41, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Can we enter with more than 1 name suggestion? -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 06:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
The page says one entry per person, one prize per household. So I assume any of your housemates or family could enter, but only one of you would get a prize if chosen. - BeX 06:57, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
I can say with authority that you guys will like the prizes. :) I'm 95% sure of the prizes ingame. Eh' Gaile? But it's a secret. So shhhh!!! - Drago18:04, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
One name per person. And only one from any given residence will be sent to final judging, to prevent any sort of familial fracas. :) And I'm afraid that you could not know what the prizes are, because no one has been told. You may speculate, as do many, but no one has confirmation. We'll make that information public soon. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:55, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
I want a miniature of my own character. —Tanaric 22:29, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
But then he would want a miniature of himself, too! LordBiro 22:34, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
LOL! Good point Biro. =P -- File:Blackgeneralstar.png (General | Talk) 22:36, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
A miniature Gaile Gray perhaps.... -- Scourge User Scourge Spade.gif 00:23, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
A mini Gaile that follows your every whim? It'll never happen. Too much innuendo. :) —Tanaric 00:25, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes. I feel an incredibly persuasive and irresistable 90's reference coming on: As if! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 06:27, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
My bet for the mini prize is a minipet of the boss you name. Think how cool an only-one-in-the-game minipet would be! Cynical 22:33, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

It's kinda sad that even a simple "by email" contest isn't open to all players. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:53, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

You'll make more headway complaining to your country's government than you will by complaining to ArenaNet. —Tanaric 06:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Please, please read what I have provided via so many forms, to learn that with all honesty and all good intent, it is not a matter of how you submit, but the fact that prizes are awarded, and that local or regional law is involved that provides all the stopping points. That is to say, it is not ArenaNet, nor NCsoft, that is putting up barriers -- we are in fact doing our best to break them down. But legal reviews are costly, and waiting periods are insurmountable, and "registration fees" could be said to be nothing more than extortion. We must do what we can do, and yet should not be asked to do any more than what is reasonable, legal, and prudent. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 06:18, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I apologise. I think it just came across with the wrong message. I wasn't complaining that Anet is disallowing everyone to take part. I was just saying that it's kinda disappointing (for me) not to be able to take part by virtue of my location. No offense intended. -- ab.er.rant sig 06:28, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I do feel better. You're such a good contributor, and it really hurts to see anyone left out, especially those who are active here. :( I've pinged various "legal sorts" but it seems that law is a delicate thing--no surprise there! So the lawyers and legal counsel that we have on board, or can get on board, are able to clear participation only by some fans, and not all. Frankly, it's a heartache, because we're so very proud of the nature of our global game, and so very attached to our global community. All I can say is that with every contest and sweepstakes, we do the best that we can do to provide the broadest coverage, and will continue to do so in the future. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 06:35, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Hmpf, it will probably be a Mini Gaile =D -.- Tomoko File:Tomoko's Cookie.jpg (talk)
I just randomly thought of mini-gaile but then I saw it's already been suggested! I would sooooooooo farm millions of hours in a game i barely play anymore for that! :) User Blastedt sig.jpgBLASTEDT 19:54, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I had no idea that people would be so fond of the idea of a purple-clad Ranger mini! But then, I look at her, and she is a cutie, and everyone knows purple is the best dye in the game (why is it so inexpensive!?) and goodness knows her newish 15K Studded Leather, with its +10% to Fashion Sense, is a winner. :) --Gaile User gaile 2.png 08:00, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Lol, I wouldn't mind a Gaile Gray mini... :P. But anyway, I would like a Mini-me of one of my characters that would change according to the armor you had. Please please please! :) Alreajk 19:33, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
I would kill for a mini tengu to go with my tengu mask! :D --File:User Wacked 1 Link Sprite.gif Wacked 1 18:53, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Update -- 3 July 2007: We received well over 7,500 entries in the Eye of the North Brand the Boss (2007) Contest. We are now in the process of first-level judging, after which we'll move to additional levels to get to the final winners, honorable mentions, and finalists. We will announce by the promised deadline of July 31. Thank you to all who entered. Your creativity, knowledge of the game, cleverness, and sense of fun have made this a very enjoyable contest. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:03, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

I submitted a name, but since then I've moved to a different location. If do happen to win a material item, How would I go about getting it to come to my new home?Ranger-icon-small.pngBlackie ewilson92 16:04, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
We email everyone to confirm addresses and we only send to confirmed addresses, so there should be no problems for those who have moved. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:09, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Update -- 27 July 2007: Final judging today! --Gaile User gaile 2.png 21:09, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

On the gw.com winners list[edit]

honorable mention and finalist seem to be mixed up compared to other contests. --Lemming64 17:44, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Changed Status for One Monster Name[edit]

After reviewing the names in the contest winners list, the game designers became concerned about how "Felix the Charr" would fit into the Guild Wars world. They noted quite a lot of controversy about the name within the player community, and they themselves felt reservations about including that name as an element within the game. For while we like to have fun in the game, and we do include "cultural references" of many kinds, this particular name is just a little outside what the designers feel comfortable including.

Therefore, we are going to leave the individual contestant's name designated as a winner and he will receive the winner prizes due to him. After all, his entry did win the internal judging. However, the monster name will not be included in the game itself. I have written to the contestant to inform him of this decision, and I have assured him he is still a winner, even if we have made an exception to including the actual submitted name into the game. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:54, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

The Prizes[edit]

Here is information about the prizes for the Brand the Bosses Contest for 2007:

The prizes consisted of a limited number of each of the following miniatures:

  • The Oni
  • The Long-haired Yeti
  • The Naga Raincaller

The physical prizes consisted of:

  • A copy of Nightfall signed by the Development Team (winner)
or
  • A full Series 1 Skill Pin Set (winner)
  • Two random Skill Pins from the Series 1 (honorable mention)

All winners, honorable mentions, and finalists were emailed to confirm email addresses and, in the instance of the winners and honorable mentions, to also confirm a shipping address for the physical prizes.

Winners (10) were allowed first choice of one of the three miniatures. After the winners responded with their choices, the Honorable Mentions (20) were also offered the opportunity to select from the three miniatures, after which the remaining miniatures were randomly distributed between the 69 Finalists. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Gaile Gray .

So was there 33 of each miniature? --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 08:36, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Felix The Charr[edit]

Thanks Anet for changing the name! :D I still think the person who submitted the name hasn't deserved it, as there were many other persons with better names that should have rather gained a price, but the main thing is changed, thank you :} Zerpha The Improver 19:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

awwhh poor felix Q_Q as I suggested on the GWO forum...

Maybe he could be a christmas/halloween NPC!...quest maybe? :p

..assuming GW:EN areas (such as gunnar's Holde ) are effected by christmas! Ascalon city could work too...

That way he still gets implanted, and shows up around a time where its not about 'doesnt fit the game' stuff :) "I went to bring peace offerings to the norn, but Ive lost my bag!" etc etc...--Yakky 19:38, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Felix The Charr was the best boss name :( Cloud 00:24, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
"we want Felix, we want Felix" lol. No really, I feel sorry for whoever submitted that name. I know they still recieved a prize and all but tbh the main prize was really to have your boss implemented into the game. :P I really do think they deserve to be an npc in a festival or something like mentioned above as a way of Anet saying sorry for there little mishap. It would be a nice gesture on their behalf. ;) --Alien User Alien Sig.png 11:55, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
That name should have won a prize in the first place. Sirocco 13:40, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Wow thats pure fail, because it doesnt fit in the game? lol there are so many stupid/corny references in the game that have nothing to do with guildwars. --Lou-SaydusHow dare you put that damned dirty thing on me! 00:47, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Like Kilroy Stonekins? (Leeroy Jenkins) --Lustre Of Havoc μιλάω 01:17, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
