Am I the only one who thinks some of these changes would actually be good for the game? Obviously most of the notes are terrible, but overall it'd be about the same as any of the real skill updates. 68.215.147.254 21:44, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

the Golem one would actually be a good one to implement. and no updates for mesmers... they should have said Mantra of Celerity has been implemented.--Robot 21:53, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

New Shroud of Silence pwnz in RA anyways. User ShadowSong sig.jpg ShadowSong 21:55, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

i remember last years notes, Shadow form, recharge is now 60 seconds. enchantment lasts 60 seconds. it was funny--Robot 22:00, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Just the THOUGHT of most of these skills ever being implimented made me uncontrollably point and RAGE. 141.165.171.194 19:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Wait what...?[edit]

These changes aren't real?! Dang it would be awesome if they were. Sentry007 User Sentry007 sig.png 21:56, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

I think the "For 10-30 seconds, target cannot send chat messages" kind of gave it away. Was there anything in game, like an easter egg, in addition to these notes? --SetandSpike 21:58, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, April_Fools'_Day_2009 --88.112.91.132 22:00, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I think there were quite a few things which gave this away, and tbh after last year I was suspicious almost before I read them. That said, many of these do make a perverted kind of sense. If they could, they actually ought to implement the changes to Fall Back, Sandstorm and Blind and maybe one or two others :-). 86.24.6.87 13:13, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Searing Flames[edit]

Would be a decent enough nerf. "If target foe is on fire, that foe and all nearby foes are struck for 10...100 fire damage." Basically requires the use of Mark of Rodgort or such, thus opens a potential spike-counter. Split it to a PvP version if PvEers still want to QQ about something. --8765 22:26, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Glyph of Immolation. Backsword 22:33, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I read it as "removed the requirement of burning to do the damage" Bubbinska 00:21, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Mark of Rodgort is prophecies and SF is NF, there are not any ele Core/NF aoe burning skills to couple with SF.--Justice 22:37, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

My skill wording implies only the target needs burning. Not the nearby ppl. So aoe burning is somewhat unnecessary. I used mark of rodgort as the example since you will not necessarily kill all nearby foes simultaneously, and the hex will still be around after the initial target dies. --8765 01:35, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Imo[edit]

Scorpion Wire and Shroud of Silence changes should actually be made. -- Halogod35 User Halogod35 Sig.jpg 23:14, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

SoS is useless anyway so I'd find it funny if it disables your chat lol, and tbh Scorpion Wire also gave it away ^^ Mal 06:28, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

conditional affects[edit]

I actually quite like some of the pretend changes, for example the power is yours, avatar of grenth, sandstorm, equinox and fall back. I know the skills would be completly broken with these changes, however I like the idea of conditional effects dependant upon terrain, time of day or charecter movement direction. I just think it kinda adds some realism to the skills usage and diversity to the skill bar which could be fun. Now if they could actually add this kinda conditional affects to PvE and obviously balance the skill hugely, then that could be really fun! I know i'm gonna get flamed for that viewpoint, but oh well. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 00:22, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Maybe in Guild Wars 2 we'll be blessed with such a thing. Dark spells having more power at night, light during the day, sandwiches tasting freshier if we hop on one leg. ^_^ 000.00.00.00 01:15, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
I wouldn't worry so much about getting flamed, with the searing flames change and all.  :)Tambora 17:46, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Update #2[edit]

I like this one. Claiming it is a "bug fix" to return "some text" in the Hall of Monuments. Nice attempted cover up there Anet Passifis 01:22, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah... Backsword 01:26, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
How is this a cover up? When they implemented the april fools stuff yesterday, one of the buttons for rearranging statues in HoM got broken (I suspect it sneaked in because of all the stuff they are doing for the HoM update later this month). I don't see anything particularly cover-up-ish about it... Ashes Of Doom Talk 02:44, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Being able to control or manipulate animals/people is hardly lame.--98.238.169.189 01:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Bull's Charge and Scorpion Wire[edit]

Scorpion Wire: no longer has half-range. Changed functionality to: "Target foe is teleported to your location and knocked down."

Bull's Charge: functionality changed to: "You Shadow Step to target foe and knock them down."

Man, these two puppies on a W/A would be sick! Espicially a Warrior being able to shadow step w/o a Sin skill??? Plus Stonefist for a 2 sec drop??? That would have been the sexiest anti-kite combo ever! - SabreWolf 14:10, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

There would still be nubs who would use them back to back on the same target. XD --User Tero Gein sig.jpgtero 11:41, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Oh, probably... it would have to be used that Scorpion Wire would pull the Monk into you own GvG team's midline, and then Bull's Charge would be used if the Monk tried to kite back into their own end again to keep them on the ground. But imagine Bull's Charge on that Bull in Pre-Searing 0.0 - SabreWolf 22:42, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Imagine anywhere... Trappers! + Scorpion Wire! :D Ownage..
What would be hilarious would be chaining this scorpion wire to pull the other teams monk from their current location to 3 or more aggro circles away from their team or into your own teams base.(marsc 21:52, 9 May 2009 (UTC))

Guild NPC Respawn[edit]

"Guild Battle NPCs now respawn at regular intervals until the Guild Lord is slain."

ON A SERIOUS NOTE... You know... that actually might not be a bad idea... would make for interesting battles... like say every 4-5 mins as opposed to the 2 minute player interval... comments? - SabreWolf 14:18, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Who cares if it's not funny? The changes werent made, and if you read through the update, and glanced at the DATE on the update, you could have just NOT laughed, and gone and played the game. Because being Gwen in ouposts doesn't prevent you from going ouside outposts, which is what you're supposed to be doing most of the time in GW anyway.--70.71.240.170 16:23, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Spawning Power[edit]

This joke about spawning makes me feel that devs are actually thinking about this problem ^_^ Kigamo 17:05, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

2nd April[edit]

Anyone noticed another update on 2nd April, not documented yet? Maybe a rollback of the Gwen-chan characters...--|pixy| 07:03, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Ingredients for successful April Fools' Update[edit]

  1. Create Updates, don't make any obvious changes like SoS, but make them equally as rage inducing (ursan revert, scorpion wire, etc).
  2. Apply changes to game, don't leave any indication anywhere that it's not a real update.
  3. Lock tournament ladders/guild ladders/etc.
  4. turn off drops/chests/exp/faction/etc.
  5. even better make it so that it says you gained exp for a kill or faction, but you actually didn't. Or add a little leaflet item on monster drops that says "IOU 1 Gold Weapon" or "April Fools".
  6. Begin loling

68.193.113.198

April Fools is suppose to be in good humor, not aggravating people. The internet is srs biznus apparently. --8765 18:43, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
This is why we can't have good things, people taking the game far too seriously. :(
i like AF days on GW the way they are now, but this year was just really dissapointing. The joke was over not even seconds after you started reading the update notes. Or even if they only added a drop item like IOUs, that would be hilarious...68.193.113.198
No it would be annoying. Games should be fun not annoying. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 19:47, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
