Lacking Hard Mode icon?[edit]
I was glancing over the HM map and it seems Cho's Estate (Explorable) doesn't have a Vanquish marker. Ideas? Known bug?

- And now I know. Noob power, activate! :) Kyubiko 15:03, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Mount Qinqai?[edit]
The picture for Minister Cho's Estate is actually of Mount Qinqai. It's even the same lake as the one over on the Mount Qinqai page, just a different angle. I'd fix it myself, but I have a hard enough time posting text. Would someone with a bit more XP in their image posting skills be so kind as to take a picture of MC'sE and replace the imposter? :P 71.199.10.77 21:15, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Exploration to the northeast?[edit]
How do I get to the area northeast of Minister Cho's Estate, including the small islands? I can't find a way there from this outpost or from the explorable area. - Brian Kendig 13:15, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
- I figured out that I can get there if I start from Ran Musu Gardens. - Brian Kendig 20:26, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
Temku Caverns[edit]
Close to the shrine, there is a large boat with sail. No kidding! How did they get this thing in the grotto?...Mutakalimun 11:26, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Vanqing[edit]
209foes, 56min, vanq/maping, heros. There are like 3 healers on the entire map so that aspect is easy. The physicals are not HM worthy status but are probably 2/3 of the foes here. The sick rits arnt dangerous. The savants/afflicted elementalists are the dangeous foes here. The savants carry fire aoe while the afflicted carry hard hitting single taget spells (talking 150-200dmg on a spell caster). Most of the mobs are 3 foes strong (you have the number advantage 90% of the time) but over aggro is easy (75% of the time is just more physicals which arnt very dangerous here). As almost always in 4 man areas, MMs (AotL/Vampirics for a solid wall, no bombing) and Spirit Masters (i did xandra as SoS/Resto) go along way. Not a hard zone and almost any profession/skill bar will do. Pulling is probably your best way of play. Justice 06:10, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
3/1/2017. Information stands the test of time! I got around 210 foes as well with a spiritway team. I took the prior users advice and swapped out minion-bombing for sustain, but I forgot Blood of the Master so I had very few minions at some points. I over-aggroed at one point at the north-eastern shore, but it wasn't fatal. The afflicted Elementalsts carry "Mind Burn" which was a pain-inverter one-shot. There were maybe only 5 of them on the entire map, luckily, and once they were cleared the Necro, Melee and Ritualists were pretty much a joke. The aggro cycle is mostly in groups of 3 which made this an easy vanquish. Took about 45 minutes. The scribes are worth being a little wary of -- there was a Tiger and a Crane that escaped the plague I had to poach--LunarRXA (talk) 21:11, 9 March 2017 (UTC) :(. --.
Guards using two elites?[edit]
Eh. Do the guards have two elites? I see Shove and Primal Rage on the some foe mind you. Will try to cap a screenie. ButeoRegalis 18:59, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm. According to the Sickened Guard (warrior) page, the higher-levelled versions do indeed have two elites in hard mode. --Wormwood 19:06, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Yep, just cap'd a screenshot of it. Thanks.ButeoRegalis 19:27, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Accessible ?[edit]
Is this area still accessible after Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate ? I just want to do zv with my sin without all those elite built garbages laying all over the place ... Magnum 18:39, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, it is accessible, but even after beating Winds of Change in NM with no other WoC quests active, the insanely hard Winds of Change mobs are still there. Maybe I screwed up somewhere and there's a way to get the normal zone back, but AFAIK, you're stuck with really annoying mobs. ~FarloTalk 18:57, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- I believe that you can restore the original mobs by bringing another player who has not yet started WoC (or at least, not taken the rescue mission). Or perhaps ANet will fix this in a subsequent update (i.e. it might pay to do this VQ later). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:58, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, about a week ago, I tried along with a guildie to help another one starting a factions char and did several zoning tests to see if I was the one changing the spawns. I had no quests there, I finished them all till cleansing silent surf, and there were still spawning, no matter what the party was. Today I abandoned the quests to try the VQ but this had no effect at all. They are still spawning. Crap ... I really hope Mr. TEF is right about that update (no sarcasm or joke with Mr.) Magnum 21:16, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

- Magnum: are you saying that you still saw WoC mobs even when your party included a toon that was new to Factions? If that is so, you should report the date/time on the official bug forum. I have no proof, but I doubt that behavior was intended by ANet (in all other circumstances, bringing a toon that is not-yet-eligible for a storyline trumps any other considerations, e.g. if you bring a toon that hasn't started WiK, you won't see WiK mobs). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:46, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
The area is impossible to vanquish.. Well with heroes it is anyway. It's not the Afflicted that show up. If you have completed the relevant Winds of Change quest in an area of factions, then the spawns for that zone will change to scavengers. Which are a lot harder. I managed to vanquish Haiju Lagoon against scavengers easy enough using 6 heroes. But having only 4 heroes in Cho's Estate vs the large mobs... It's got to be a bug, or something overlooked when they added the update. Please shrink the mobs Anet!--121.222.1.202 23:55, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
- TEF, I have tested your idea about bringing a non-WoC character along with while trying to vanquish Minister Cho's Estate, and I can confirm that the scavenger mobs are still present. My friends character hadn't even finished factions yet, so it obviously wasnt WoC ready. Also had tried characters that just hadnt started Winds of Change yet. In all tests the results where the same. Whether this is intended behavior from Anet or not. It is as of now the way it is. The only thing i didnt try was a friend with a low level character from factions. But my money would be on the scavengers still being there. Definitely needs an update, tho i bet it wont happen anytime soon. --Tea 00:06, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- This should be an easy VQ based on its location in Factions (starter island) not harder (post WoC) than several of the Elite areas in Guilds Wars. This needs a serious balancing look-at by the QA team. (Usaf1a8xx 00:16, 30 July 2011 (UTC))
- I don't know if it should be an easy VQ, but surely there's a balance between updating the storyline (scavengers replacing afflicted) and turning the zone into slog city (nearly 2x the number of foes, never mind if they are easier or not).
- Again, I hope that folks will report this officially, if they have personal experience seeing toons new to factions still encounter the post/during WoC mobs — again, this is unusual in Guild Wars, since the toon newest to the storyline almost always determines which mobs appears. — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:32, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- Answering Mr. TEF's question: yes the starter char had just finished Minister Cho's Estate and was doing Lost Treasure quest. I apologize for the late reply (different timezone). Respectfuly Magnum 06:22, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update (PS the timing is fine :-) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 06:32, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
- This was a really easy VQ of 1 foe, all you have to do is be a Factions character and have done An Unwelcome Guest. Go in the area in HM and kill a charmable animal and BAM, instant VQ! PS the passive bulls in the area are around level 26 in HM, I killed one and it gave me 204 xp 50.104.240.103 08:27, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- A late reply, but you must be thinking about Zen Daijun.16:45, 9 January 2012 (UTC) 85.19.140.9 16:45, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Vanquishing: It looks as though if you run through the WoC quests in HM, then for each one the mobs are back as afflicted and not as scavengers. It's certainly so for the first two. So it looks like I will have to work through them until I get to rescue at Minister Cho's estate and then hopefully vanquish this area. What a pain! Moebius The Malign 18:06, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Shrine Bug?[edit]
Ive been doing the Rescue at Minister Cho's Estate hard-mode quest. While doing so, I have noticed that I cannot summon Lyssa's Muse from the North shrine. No matter how many times I /kneel, no matter where I /kneel, the avatar does not appear. I have tested this multiple times (as I keep failing this nigh impossible quest). Anybody else have this same issue? ~Mervil 19:26, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe u haven't knelt close enough or it wasn't any favor ? Magnum 05:44, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Sickened animals used no skills[edit]
Just vanquished this area, and haven't seen a single sickened animal use any skill. Though I won't add it to the Notes, as on the animal pages it does list skills 👀 -- kazerniel (talk | contribs) 20:58, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
Seriously[edit]
what you are telling me is that I have to DELETE a toon and make a new one to farm trinket boxes for nik?
- Go to Marketplace, into Docks, take boat to seitung harbor on shing jea island. From there run through to shing jea monestery, then to minister cho's estate. Do the mission (trinket boxes!). Once mission is done you can enter the explorable area of cho's from ran misu gardens [more trinkets]. The gate to ran misu from kinya is locked until you do the cho's mission. Any character from any campaign can get anywhere except the prophecies tutorial. Durp da durp (talk) 06:49, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
