superior salvage

I've been doing some farms, and every time I sup salvage a phantom residue i get exactly 5 piles of glittering dust. Shouldn't this be mentioned on the page as well? 84.85.197.187 18:57, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

This may be true, but the cost per use of the superior salvage kit vs. the regular kit isn't a good value for 1 more dust. But I would advise players to always salvage this item because you get far more money for selling the dust, Yoe Dude 09:31, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

I just salvaged seven Phantom Residue with a basic Salvage Kit and six of the seven yielded 5 piles of dust. Robdalf 03:29, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

Salvages to Ecto?

According to the original Prima strategy guide, these can be expert/superior salvaged into globs of ectoplasm. I have the guide in its original physical form and a full scan in pdf. Is there any way to confirm or deny this with Arenanet staff or player's past experience?Yumiko ^,~ 05:08, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Likelihood

We don't usually post the likelihood for which amount of mats drop from salvage or expert, as was done here. We certainly never change the numbers without first documenting the research on the talk page.

The auto-cat doesn't work on the {{item infobx}} whenever we post the numbers, so I've suggested that we update the infobox to allow for that, see: Template_talk:Item_infobox#salvage_auto-cats.

In the meantime, I would ask that the IP that posted the percentages post their research results on this page so that folks can add to them and/or challenge the evidence, as we do elsewhere on the wiki. I agree. GWW has a pretty good consistent template and realistically I don't think most people don't look at percentages when deciding whether or not to salvage something. If you find something that you want to salvage, your gonna salvage it for the material you want anyway. -- Diseraph 23:02, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Added Farming Routes, Notes, Formatting

Made the article more concise and added a map for farming in the Underworld. I've removed the map pertaining to farming in Varajar Fells as it is an extremely situational method of farming, and those looking up the quest on the wiki will find the map on the quest's page, but I do think it is still worth mentioning in this article that it can be farmed in Varajar.
