This is not a region[edit]

I removed the {{region infobox}} from this article because this is technically not a region. Can we not format this as if it's a region? -- ab.er.rant sig 05:07, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Gamemachanics wise it's a region, which is why I formated it like one. If it's poreferable to not have it as one, the contents would still be formated in a similar way, as it's much the same things. I guess one could rename headers or so. Backsword05:09, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
The problem is that we also have Northern Shiverpeaks and Southern Shiverpeaks. Are you proposing to merge them? We're also going to have Far Shiverpeaks soon, so I believe it's better to keep them all separate. Because if you are wanting to merge them, then there's lots of things that need to be changed to redirect and change the north-south references. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:11, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't want a merge, not only because it would be a lot of work for little benefit, but also becausë, as players go through the parts at different stages, they're conceptually different for many player. As for the Far Shiverpeaks, I'm assuming they will be technically seperate, belonging to different campaigns. Backsword 05:18, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
So you're saying it's actually better to have this article and both the Northern and Southern articles at the same time? And this page actually holding all the same information that's already detailed in the separate ones. Isn't that highly redundant when you can just make this into a disambiguation page for the two? And maybe throw in some lore stuff or additional notes that explains that this mountain region is divided into several sections. That way, it isn't so cluttering in that if I'm looking for Northern Shiverpeaks stuff and I come to this article, I'd be thinking, wow, so much stuff, when I might've be better informed by a page that tells me that Shiverpeak Mountains is divided into a northern and southern section, and I can avoid having to look at what's in the southern part. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:22, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
One could say that about any large area. And someone may not know if we consider it to belong to the north or south. (That'd only be relevant to Beacon's Perch and Lornar's Pass, I'd think). But as we do have seperate articles, placing prominent links to them would be useful for those who know what they're looking for but ended up on the general page. Backsword 05:41, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Good point, which is why I suggested that this should be a disambiguation page and the disambiguation should be fixed. If they're looking for the region which contains Beacon's Perch, it'd be more logical to go the Beacon's Perch first. But there's the problem where they can't remember the name of whatever they're looking for. I don't know what's the best way to resolve this, but I just don't like the fact that we have two "systems" with regards to the Shiverpeaks (with regards to the categories and the navbars). I just feel that it should be more clear cut. We either treat the Shiverpeaks (in Prophecies) as one single region, or we treat it as two. It's conflicting to say that the whole of Shiverpeak Mountains is a region, and also say the north and south are also regions. -- ab.er.rant sig 08:02, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict)I think this article should only hold a general description and links to the regions in it, not a list of outposts and such. They can be found in the "real" region atricles anyway, and this article will get huge when far shiverpeaks is included. The shiverpeaks is not a region in game mechanics, imo. It's only a region on the map. - anja talk 08:04, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Bump... can we resolve this? I still that we either treat the Shiverpeak Mountains as one whole region, or we treat it as three separate regions. It doesn't feel right for it to be both. -- ab.er.rant sig 02:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

If there is no opposition/discussion soon to my bumped request of making this a disambiguation page or lore page instead, then I will go ahead with the change. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:09, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Pre-searing[edit]

Look at the picture to the right. Its in the searing, but looks like somewhere in the Shiverpeaks. (You get there if doing the Elementalist secondary class Quest). —ZerphatalkThe Improver 14:29, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

It's fun to realize that the Shiverpeaks melted a bit because of the Searing. Wish we could have gone into post-Searing Wizard's Folly though... -- Konig/talk 02:32, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Reaching from Canthan/Elonian characters?[edit]

Is there any way to move from Lion's Arch (Kryta) to The Northern Shiverpeaks? Ninjas In The Sky 11:33, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Sure. Just go NE. Begin with the eastern exit from North Kryta Province. Backsword 11:40, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, tyvm. I wanna farm minotaurs a bit :). Ninjas In The Sky 11:41, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
