So what's so great about this skill? The only pros I can see so far off the top of my head is: -Cold version of searing heat (if you need to deal cold damage for some enemies) -no attribute points spent -good recharge

No attribute points is huge advantage. Think about monks being able to throw nuke like this around with all their points in heal/prot/divine. Pretty much any spellcater can plug this in any build. Huge thing Zweistein 14:58, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Hardly. If it was something like, fow for example, I would kick the monk from the group if they refused to take out this spell. They run out of energy during the long hauls without a bip. Maybe if you're running around with henches and heroes around in GWEN for example, I think it would be okay to take around if you used something like glyph lesser E before hand. Otherwise, this spell is a real energy hog.LarsG Man 23:57, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't think attunement will affect this spell, so the actual energy use will be very close to that of a 25 energy attuned spell.LarsG Man 07:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Monks can't spare the 15 energy for the spell, and eles have way better spells at their disposal which ARE affected by attunements. This isn't comparable to searing heat it's comparable to Breath of Fire except it can be cast more often and costs A LOT more, considering attunements won't affect it. IMHO needs a buff like slows them down inside its aoe. Sure any class can bring it without points investment but its effect is average at best, so who would bring it over a more useful/powerful/cheaper spell from their own class? Dancing Gnome 20:25, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Because of its cost that's why it is more comparable to searing heat than breath of fire. Doesn't matter though, they're both pretty much the same freaking thing.LarsG Man 23:57, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Just make it have effect with water attunement and elemental attunement. Strong enough on it's own. Since the dwarven title is the easiest title to max. before you all start flaming, go do the secret lair of the snowmen. --Lou-SaydusUser Lou-Saydus Hail Storm.jpg 21:04, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

The skill icon looks more like rain to me than snow.... kinda dissapointed, was hoping it would be an awsome skill, but Anet never overdoes it with cold damage skills dealing with water type stuff..... You know wat'd be nice for the water line? a new condition: Frozen!!! yay!!!! imobilizes for x seconds and stops from using spells for y seconds. Dean Harper 03:37, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

The only thing it has over Firestorm is that it has 1/3 the recharge. It needs Glyph of Lesser Energy to work if it does not work with attunements. Damn I need to test this < it would be great spell if it would work with water attunement. In fact I would have like this to be a Water Magic skill. --Longasc 23:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

I currently run a AoE earth build, and this skill would help me out a lot. I mean, it is a lot better than Churning Earth...Nicky Silverstar 19:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Mind Blast, Glyph of Energy, Auspicious Incantation, just get some e-management and your on ur way to pwnage.--Relyk 01:29, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

AFTER THE BUFF[edit]

After the buff this skill is now amazing. It's the *best* non-elite Nuke in the game. It does the same damage as Searing Heat at 15 Fire Magic, and although Searing sets them on fire for a couple seconds at the end, this costs less energy, has half the casting time, a third the recharge, and can be used by any profession at max strength with no attribute point investment.

No it's not. It's only adjacent range, making it pretty weak. 145.94.74.23 12:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
And is it just me, or does it also act like Maelstrom and cause interrupts? I was using this against Destroyers, as well as the Great one himself, and it would interrupt everything... I know I had an interrupt mesmer, but even so, she didn't seem to be casting most of the time, and I doubt they'd recharge THAT fast, even with Mantra of Recovery...--99.241.76.164 04:01, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Wow this is completely overpowered, 30 damage per second for 5 seconds with no title or attribute investment. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:96.233.6.210 (talk).

As said above... 1st its PvE... 2nd I aggree that it is strong, I've even taken it on my warrior with warrior endurance to pay the cost and can cause huge ammounts of elemental area damage with 6 optional slots for weapon pwnage/utility... MrPaladin talk 14:53, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
It beats out all the Ele skills its related to just for having half the cast time and 1/3 the recharge. It seriously annoys me now though, as I'm seeing it on tons of bars it really doesn't be long on. Maaaybe on a warrior if you've got +energy runes (so you can still cast 10E once you get DP) and rely on adrenaline, but dervs, non-perma sins, and monks really should not be trying to cast this spell, especially not in HM (insert PuG location here). Also should be noted that its only equal to 15 fire at max delver. Equal to 12 at r5 is not bad though, particularly for the minimal effort it takes to get there. Lillium 09:14, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

This skill is great, because it is so good against destroyers. They have reduced armor against cold damage, and increased AL for fire damage, so searing heat won't work there.

Looks like that's all its good for really. I hope they allow eles to take advantage of their water attunement on this skill.

PvE Cripstorm[edit]

Crippling Slash Crippling Slash + Snow Storm Snow Storm good idea :P Cactus 00:43, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Use Hamstring Hamstring instead, its better! Sonic Tuesday User Da Sonic Sig2.png 00:44, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

way to much energy and does not have the bleeding cover the crippling. crippling slash is a great use of an elite Cactus 01:06, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Oh I get it, because Crippling Slash is useless in PvE! What is the point of this? -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 01:30, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
