Allies lost[edit]

I've noticed that many times I attempt to do this mission, allies tend to get "stuck" and not follow. Has this happened to anyone else? It's annoying. -_-  AshleyS (talkcontribs) 19:04, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

One of my guildies mentioned this last night, so you're not the only one. -elviondale (tahlk) 19:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
I've had them get stuck twice now, but noticed their gray names before getting too far out. Both times they've rejoined me after i backtracked to the starting camp and used the form up shout. Noelahg 01:07, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Happens mostly if you dont wait for your allys before passing through the first bridge, they tend to stay in the village talking to their families, but no biggy, once u get the cutscene with the mrusaat they get back, u just ahve to finish the 3 bosses without them.

Name[edit]

I've been looking for references to pop culture/movies/etc in all these new missions. Does "The Rise of the Silver Surfer" sound familiar? -elviondale (tahlk) 19:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

If it's a reference, it's a damn thin and vague one. Since there is no similarity in execution. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 19:11, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
It might be, but it really is about the rise of the White Mantle, so... I dunno. Ale_Jrb (talk) 19:14, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
There have been several such references that are similar in title only. -elviondale (tahlk) 20:54, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
And they should too be removed. check out the togo-killbill and the turai-300 references to see real ones, which are worthy of noting in the article. Foo 21:18, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Olias Dude[edit]

The guy from Olias' mission, does he appear in this mission? Or any of the comments any of the people make? I like how these later expansions add more depth to the story, even as a prequal. SystemisFlawed

quest/mission[edit]

i commented here about this issue. this article uses the quest infobox but talks about the "main mission." so which is it? it also categorizes the bonus pack as "bonus mission pack quests." cognitive dissonance anyone? --VVong|BA 21:49, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

First, I think you're looking for a term similar to "ambiguity," not "cognitive dissonance." Second, it is a mini-mission; somewhere between a quest and a mission, with a few trappings of each. The Bonus Mission Pack is something of a misnomer, as none of them are missions in the truest sense, but each of these mini-missions have a series of primary objectives similar to missions (hence, "main mission," though it could be phrased more clearly). Hope this clears a few things up. --SoraMitsukai 21:14, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Maps[edit]

I have added some maps for this mission, but right now the formatting is really ugly. I have no idea how to make that part of the walkthrough to look better - does anyone have an idea? Erasculio 22:02, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Krytan villagers[edit]

Arghh!!! I've been trying over a dozen times and seems at least one villager had to die before I can clear the Charr. I just wish those villagers won't rush forward and get themselves killed. Sigh. -- ab.er.rant sig 12:20, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

That particular discovery relies a lot on luck. If one of the Krytan villagers gets targeted by the Charr, you can pretty much kiss that discovery goodbye. The way with the least chance of failure (which is still rather high, admittedly) is to use "Form Up and Advance!" immediately and place yourself and your allies between the villagers and the Charr. This should keep most of the villagers back far enough so they won't join in, but it has the unfortunate side effect of letting your group aggroing the entire Charr group at once. To counter this, keep running Rations and Balm Bombs, interspaced with Banner of the Unseen to keep as much of your group alive. It wasn't pretty, and Dorian and Jaemes (the Charr REALLY seem to hate him for some reason) built up a lot of DP, but the Krytan villagers stayed alive. - Zaxares 10:00, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Anyone have any other advice on how to do this? Luck doesn't seem to be much of a factor, considering I've done this about 40 or so times with absolutely no success. The "luck" involved seems to be when the villager dies, right at the start or later in. Matrim18:21, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Should i Add this?[edit]

People probably already know this but if you swap weapon while the mission counts down, you appear dead in the mission with you weapon and you fail.

Should I add this?

How is the difficulty of this mission compared to others in the BMP?[edit]

I have just started playing around with this BMP and I have tried and failed several times to complete this particular mission. (The walk through isn't very helpful. It fails to explain what to do when you reach the main camp and there are a slew of char) Anyway how does this compare to the other missions?--Worldly Tutor 03:52, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I think it's probably the hardest of the four, partucalarly during the last wave. -- Gordon Ecker 05:54, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Honestly, I think the difficulty just has to do with your playing style. I thought the end of this was relatively easy, though I'm already used to the quirks of a signet build. At the same time, though, I'm just not used to playing as a Rit, so I still have yet to beat Togo's Story. I imagine people who decidedly aren't runners will have a very hard time beating the end of Gwen's Story, and while I haven't bothered with Turai's Story yet, I imagine it has it's own unique challenges at the end. In that regard, I think the set (small as it is) is very well-designed, so everyone will find something reasonably challenging. --SoraMitsukai 21:20, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Did all other 3 with bonuses, and I have yet to complete this one. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 02:21, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
This one is only hard in terms of how long it takes, being almost forever >_>- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 20:53, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Not just that. If you don't use the skills well during the waves, or don't move properly, you can suffer a wipe. -- Alaris_sig Alaris 23:48, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Huh, always found this one easy, but as Vanguard says, slow. Keeping that Tengu alive otoh....Backsword 23:58, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
I did this story once, the discoveries aren't even worth the trouble.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 23:59, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
The mission and the first two discoveries are really simple, but I can't seem to do the third no matter how I try. =\ Whenever I try it, they all agro and run towards me. And then if they stop, they're blocking the path I need to use... So that one seems pretty poorly designed. I like the Mursaat items though. So I keep doing it. xP RitualRitualistDoll 06:54, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Ugh...i keep dying on the very last few enemies when they knock us all down with earthquake >_< |NalanaUser Nalana Darkling santa.jpgDarkling| 01:02, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Lol, after i died the remaining two mursaat allies finished off the boss and the mission completion dialogue was cued, although i didnt get an authorized story. |NalanaUser Nalana Darkling santa.jpgDarkling| 01:06, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Btw, what are the quirks of signet builds that we should know? Maybe some insight into those could help some of us...? -- Alaris_sig Alaris 03:55, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Krytan Villagers bonus[edit]

I've killed the charr successfully without any krytan villages at all dying, but I don't get any message notifying me, nor do I get it at all. I'm positive because whenever they do die you can see their corpses with Alt. Plus, I even looked all over the ground and saw no dead krytan villagers. Plus, I've counted the number of Krytan Villagers at the beginning and it's the same at the end. I've completed it successfully and have discovery mode unlocked. This is starting to piss me off. Whiteboy 19:58, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

You also need to complete the quest. It's only updated then. Backsword 23:58, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Killing Sootreigners[edit]

Just ran through this a couple of times, and it seemed to make the first wave easier if I killed the 5 sootreigners that patrol in the main camp. As you head over the bridge on the normal stealth run, they should be just in front of you. With the run speed shout, they're easy to catch and dispatch. By killing only these 5 mobs, two things happen. 1) they don't show up in the waves immediately starting the event, making it much easier. and 2) they aren't enough to fill your detection bar if you've avoided the other enemies. You'll end up alerting the camps after you kill the 2nd charr leader, but since you're not moving, none spawn. Noelahg 01:05, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

For the discovery with 5 locations...[edit]

If I was to kill all Charr before going to the end of the main camp, will this remove the waves? Or will waves spawn anyway? – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 05:34, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

How do you avoid the Charr?[edit]

Seriously, it says to avoid the Charr to keep the alert meter from filling out. Well no matter what I do, there are Charr patrols everywhere and they always go in my direction. I can't avoid them. So the meter fills out and I get ambushed before I'm even halfway to the end. How the hell am I supposed to avoid the Charr? And the worst part is I'm only doing this because I need to film the cinematic for a video. I wish we could just rewatch the cinematics if we've completed them the first time. Tender WolfUser Tender Wolf sig.png 02:39, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

EDIT: Never mind, figured that out. now to survive the ridiculously hard waves of attacks...even with the Mursaat's help...Tender WolfUser Tender Wolf sig.png 03:15, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
EDIT: Okay, this is ridiculous. The difficulty of this mission needs to be changed. Level 16's getting eaten by a level 28 Charr hunter beast, and I always die at the third warband of Charr no matter what I do. This is absolutely impossible. ffs Lower the difficulty!!! Tender WolfUser Tender Wolf sig.png 03:50, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Have completed this dossens of times. Don't stand in AoE, don't stand near the Mursaat, and hit Hunter Beasts with spectral agony, and it should be hard to fail. Backsword 12:23, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
They are not that hard if you use your skills correctly, keep Mantra of Inscriptions up at all times, and use Spectral Agony on the Charr hunter beast and bosses. Also stay behind the mursaat, they help you fight. cast Banner of the Unseen everytime to help with the healing. Its the last group you'll wanna be careful with, espically the aoe spells from Sootreigners and the boss.Gta 11:54, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
How can I not stand next to the Mursaat though? Aren't they somewhat protective? :S And I try to avoid the AoE, but then the warriors are around me and I can't run away. And then all my allies die. This is too hard. Tender WolfUser Tender Wolf sig.png 21:25, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
can only offer tips, since it's solo, otherwise you could have someone show you ingame. But it quite easily doable if you get it right, so preserve. I have piles of Mursaat weapons. Of course you should be in the same cobat as the Mursaat, but not right next to them. Stay slightly behind them, so they tak the brunt of the attack. Other than that, Your elite, spectral and the heal wards are your key skills, and should be used on recharge. Backsword 21:46, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Dont feel bad. I got burned by the last warband from getting Earthquaked hardcore. Just keep targeting your elite signet in the middle of the mob, which isnt hard to do because they like to ball up. Justice 23:30, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Dumbest AI ever?=[edit]

"Bonus: protect all Krytan Villagers" <- srry they're retarded, run into AoE for FUN and have ~5hp officially on the if-you-lag-this-is-impossible-to-do list --The Scythe User The Scythe Has Fallen Sig2.png Has Fallen 20:19, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Hidden Advantage?[edit]

I was doing this bonus mission with my warrior, who happens to have a Stonefist Insignia on his armor. The funny thing is, I think it was actually still in effect. Almost every other rune or insignia in the game affects health, energy and attributes, which are fixed for the Bonus Missions, or armor level, which may or may not be fixed. The point being, with more testing it could be found that Stonefist Insignia are a concrete advantage in this mission with Signet of the Unseen and Bane Signet, as well as in The Battle of Jahai with Turai Ossa's Giant Stomp.
