Confusion[edit]

This is what Bloodsong shoulda been. For the longest time, I thought Bloodsong stole HP for you but it didn't.--Eloc 03:49, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Why would you think that blood song says nothing in its description to imply it steals health for you. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:82.39.38.76 .

The 82.39.38.76 is right, there is nothing to say that Bloodsong steals health for you. it steals health for its self thus keeping the spirit alive. --Jamie (Talk Page) 00:08, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Umm so? Not everyone reads the description perfectly and knows exactly what the f*ck it means right away. Alot of people don't even know what an anomaly is. I was only stating my opinion. No need to bash it.--§ Eloc § 02:45, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey! I also thought Bloodsong would stela health for me, not itself. For quite a long time. It's not really obvious ;) - anja talk 18:03, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
Agreed, I thought Bloodsong stole health for me at first too. After all why does the spirit need health so badly? Upon reading it closer and noticing that it won't give me health, I was much less enthused with the skill. This skill, however is awesome. *Staples to Rit's skill bar* - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 14:38, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

As of the 17 July 2007 update, Vampirism allways steals 10 health (0 Sunspear rank) regardless of your Sunspear rank, also it does not trigger the Painful Bond extra damage. This has been reported on several forums. Miss Carlina 08:10, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, Bloodsong steals health, making it a prime target for skills like Gaze from Beyond, which is probably why it was moved to Channeling. - Da Si

Note: If two of your party members bring this skill, only one of these spirits will be able to be used at any one time. In other words, when you cast one spirit, if nother party member casts another Vampirism spirit, it will cancel the first one out.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:82.3.203.58 (talk).

I like this Binding Ritual more than Pain on my SoS bar. This deals less damage, but it heals me when it attacks and is a higher level. I find that baddies tend to wipe out Pain really quick and target it first; but with this guy, the spirit is stronger and works better with SoS and Bloodsong. ~ A R A ~ 16:42, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Effects[edit]

it says it steals 10...20 health AND heals u for 10...20 health does that mean when it attacks it gains 20 helth that it stole AND completely seperately heals u for 10...20 health?

Yes, that is how it works. --Kale Ironfist 11:52, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Also, I believe it heals you for 10...20 health on each attack even if the attack does not hit.70.59.83.70 18:27, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

What is the picture supposed to be of? Looks like something drastically... weird.

I think it's supposed to be a squirt of blood, but in the Ritualist icon color. It looks suggestive, I know. >.< RitualDoll 21:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Scourge Healing[edit]

Does the ritual trigger it? BlazeRick 18:38, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

big chance it doesnt, as this is life stealing, not healing 84.192.144.207 14:32, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
He/she probably meant the separate healing effect. Noctarch 02:50, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
A little late for this but, Vampirism Does indeed Heal. it steals health for it self not you. if you read the description it says that it Steals 10-20 health AND you are healed for 10-20 health.

Bugged?[edit]

I've noticed that sometimes, Vampirism doesn't attack while other spirits do. Also, it seems to have an abnormally short range. I've tried moving it around with draw spirit and summon spirits to get it to attack, but when it's in a situation where it isn't attacking, it simple doesn't attack until that creature dies and it finds a new target. Is anyone else experiencing this? 64.231.252.58 22:34, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

No, never experienced this, but then again I've only used Vampirism by itself. Maybe try reporting this at User talk:Mike Zadorojny/Guild Wars Miscellaneous Bugs. — Eloc 06:14, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Yea, it does that. Not sure if they fixed it yet, but tell me if they did. Justin6 User Justing6 Justing6 siggypic.png 05:57, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
I've noticed that spirits will often go periods without attacking if they're targeting an enemy that runs out of range. They don't always swap targets to a nearby enemy in a timely manner - 75.76.3.97 21:47, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Scourge Healing[edit]

Does affect this.

The spirit steals health, but you are healed in the same way healing works, not life stealing.

As in, you don't gain health like you do from Vamp. Gaze, you gain it like you do from Orison of Healing.Quetzal 19:10, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Can't find Vampirism?[edit]

Thought this note might be helpful. I thought the skill trainers weren't offering me Vampirism because I was looking under the "Show me Ritualist skills" and didn't see it. This isn't a Ritualist skill, so look under "Show me Sunspear skills".97.122.117.100 07:28, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Note - Must be either a Primary or Secondary Ritualist[edit]

In the Notes section it states that "Although a Ritualist Skill, it is linked to a title, so can be used to the same same extent by other professions". Is it just me or does this sound like it can be used by any other professions? This skill does not show up on your available skills list under Sunspear Skills unless you are either a primary or secondary Ritualist. The advantage is that you don't have to put any points into an attribute. I think that the note on the main page may be misleading to some. Rhapsody Moon

the icon[edit]

Alright, one of you dick smokers made an alternate icon for this thing a while back with a picture of some model or another standing in an exaggerated pose with exposed cleavage and scarcely-noticeable vampire fangs, the joke being that the icon was "modified to be less sexual." I put it in one of my skill mods because I can't find the fucking high-res versions for PvE skills. My old mod blew up and now I can't find it. Can someone post it if they've saved it? I'm not even going to put it in the damn mod anymore; I just need to find it because it's bugging me that I lost it. –Jette 02:50, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Nah, it was a user image that I assume has since been deleted. I wish I hadn't started this, but now I have to finish it. I've pulled out some of my magnetic tapes from like two years ago and I'm trying to find the part where I put all my GW crap. Thanks though. –Jette 03:09, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Max Vampirism damage - no Sunspear title track?[edit]

My main char has the Legendary Sunspear title yet, when I got Vampirism for my rit who doesn't even have anything in the sunspear title track it was all maxxed out? Spirit was level 14, did max damage etc. is this a bug or - if you have a high sunspear title track on a different character, does it follow on others? --Lonai 03:21, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

The Update - Thursday, May 17, 2012 decreased the title rank required to get maximum effectiveness from title-based PvE skills. User Yoshida Keiji Signature.pngYoshida Keiji(talk) 09:06, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
But my char doesn't have any titles in the sunspear title track.. how does she still have maxxed out stats for vampirism? --Lonai 10:52, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
So you obtained the skill with hero skill points obtained from EOTN? (if you have got to kourna then you probably have a high enough rank to hit the "max stats") -Chieftain Alex 13:54, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
I made a ritualist, levelled her up to level 20 and then brought her to Nightfall. I did a few quests to get the heroes like Koss, Dunkoro etc. and from doing this, I managed to get a small amount of hero skill points - not many. These hero skill points came with the quests I did to get these guys. I'm not even Sunspear Commander or anything and I can't display my title yet. This is my question - why do I have max stats for Vampirism, considering that my character isn't even the first rank in Sunspear yet. --Lonai 23:09, 21 February 2013 (UTC)
You hit max stats at rank 5, still you cannot display the title. --numma_cway 01:24, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

I verified the bug noted on the article. At Sunspear rank 8, my character is healed for 20 health; however, Vampirism only steals 18 health. So based on that bug note, what Lonai stated above, and my own observations, it could be that after the May 17, 2012 update, Vampirism is now always level 14 and heals your character for 20 health regardless of your Sunspear rank; however, life stealing still scales with Sunspear rank. This could use further research, so feel free to edit the table above. --Silver Edge 07:08, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

All this sunspear farming really screws with my ability to verify stuff.. -Chieftain Alex 11:32, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I made a new character to verify, but I was farming A Land of Heroes to get it up; killing Midshipman Beraidun and defeating the assault was enough to bump me up two ranks at a time. Sorry, guys. You can probably guess what numbers rank two would have yielded though. Blue Totoro 04:30, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. Hopefully you didn't have to delete a level 20 PvE character to create that new character. I've added skill progression tables above for easier comparison. --Silver Edge 07:26, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Confirmed on my Sunspear rank 7 Ritualist. I was actually testing the effect of Painful Bond and noticed that the in-game tooltip wrongly states 20 lifestealing while it actually was 17. Thanks for the tables above. --XLsdiary (talk) 13:18, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
