Talk:Wintersday 2012
Wintersday webpage[edit]
Hilariously, ANet have only changed the date, and switched the kormir disguise picture for one of the lyssa set. They didn't even bother to change the browser page title - so they both appear as "welcome to wintersday 2011!" It seems that they've worded the mask thing such that they didn't have to alter it from last year either. (lazy effort, must have taken all of 10 minutes to write!) --Chieftain Alex 11:33, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- Wintersday 2011 and 2012 (added the links so others can more easily follow what we're talking about). They corrected the "Welcome to Wintersday 2011!" error you mentioned on the 2012 page.
They updated the "Special Wintersday Costumes" section at the bottom of the 2012 page (since there isn't going to be new costumes, which is similar to Halloween 2012), but they forgot to remove "This year we're offering two brand new Wintersday costumes that represent the Tyrian gods Lyssa and Kormir" from the top of the 2012 page (those costumes were released last year). The 2011 and 2012 pages both state "Deliver presents to needy little urchins, defeat the scheming Grentches, spread Wintersday cheer, and more", even though the Grentch activity feature was removed before Wintersday 2011 even started. --Silver Edge 23:47, 10 December 2012 (UTC)- It seems they updated it at some point while I was typing that. --Silver Edge 00:01, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
- I can guess that hat mechanics will be similar as at last Halloween: players will be rewarded only with gifts, but they will be able to exchange the special drop (Candy Cane Shards?) for one token per account and then this token for any of previous hats. --Slavic 00:27, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
- According to this section that was initially created prior to Dragon Festival 2012, the Gw.dat also contains tokens for Wintersday (festival hat) and Canthan New Year (miniature celestial animal). The Guild Wars Facebook page states "You will also be able to loot some holiday items and even a special surprise the first time you attend the finale!" So you will receive something the first time you attend a Wintersday finale, which would be different from Halloween 2012 where every finale awarded a Minutely Mad King Tonic. --Silver Edge 01:40, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
- They just published news in Facebook about hats: new NPCs in LA and Kamadan will exchange 100 candy cane shards for a token, then token for a hat. Really a little bit more generous than usual, because in past those players who missed the finale event, could get the hat for 125 shards :-) --Slavic 21:04, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
- I've quoted that in the page. --Silver Edge 22:05, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Looking forward to Wintersday this year[edit]
Not sure why. Guess it has been a long year so it is nice to have some festive cheer in one of my all-time favourite games. Who else is psyched about it this year? DonutxDude 15:50, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
Only 1 hat?[edit]
That's not fight, normally you could get both. Should be able to get two, like Halloween. Ramei Arashi 22:17, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
- "This page contains information about an element of Guild Wars that has changed since the original writing, and may need to be updated to reflect the current state of the game." <-- read.
- It will probably feature a quest for each campaign to get a mask like halloween. Chieftain Alex 22:56, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
- One solution to end the confusion would be to remove the "Wintersday Hat Giver" NPC's from the list considering the announcement says about the quests being added and 100 cc shards each quest and those NPC's aren't present yet this year and probably will not be since the quests will probably give a festival mask token or w/e for the Wintersday Hat Givers once the quests are there... don't see any new quest NPC's yet so far in the event tho maybe for the last week they'll get added. Rather than keep the historical content verbatim perhaps editing to reflect the announcement then updating it once the new content goes live would be helpful for newer players :/ 72.64.6.152 05:25, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- Krunch is in kamadan.. 100 shards for the token.. 72.64.6.152 06:15, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

- Brrrnadette in LA as well as Krunch in LA each offering a seperate quest for 100 shards each = 2 tokens for LA
2 from Kamaden--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:MystiLefemEle (talk).- Actually The Polar Depressed requires 99 shards while A Humbling Gift requires 100. --Silver Edge 09:50, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- My bad, yes, 99 on that other.MystiLefemEle 09:55, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

<reset indent>Yeah found them both after a bit of wandering in both towns. really sorta stuck in those odd spots. Who ever uses that back storage in Kamadan? The 1 shard left over was sorta confusing too. 72.64.6.152 16:06, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
