Mad King Thorn appeared in the mushroom circle area in both Lion's Arch and also in Kamadan (Nightfall players from 2006) on October 31st for Halloween. Undead horsemen "Heralds" routinely warned travelers of their master's impending arrival in both cities. When he arrived, he began commanding people. If you did what he wanted - usually by emoting - you would receive different Halloween treats (from 2007 you received Trick-or-Treat Bags). If you failed to comply, you would die, but then be resurrected before the next command. At the end of the game he would give everyone a unique hat. The game lasted approximately 30 minutes and included jokes, commands, rock-paper-scissors games and a "Simon Says"-like game at the end.

Notes[edit]

  • In rock-paper-scissors a player can win, lose or tie. If you win, you get one of the Halloween Collector items. If there is a tie, nothing happens. If Mad King Thorn wins, he kills the player (who is quickly resurrected).
  • In Mad King Says, similar to Simon Says, you must only perform the action when the dialogue contains the phrase "Mad King Says:". Performing the action for the other dialogues will result in death.
  • If no one plays the violin when Mad King Thorn asks everyone to play an instrument, he kills everyone.
  • If you had a character that could access both areas conducting the party, you could obtain both hats on one character. To do this you had to start the event at a lower numbered district. When the event ended there, you could move your character to a higher numbered district in the other location where you wanted the hat. The time delay for the endings between districts could exceed half an hour, giving time to get other characters to other locations.
