User talk:Ariyen/2009/Archive8 Last Talk for 2009:

Just a personal request

Think about how you have been treated in general, then think about how you have treated others. Has every person you have treated in a confrontational manner deserved to be treated in that way? Are you treating people in the way you would like to be treated? Believe me, I am someone who knows the value of a caustic approach on occassion, but I think some of your recent problems could have been resolved much more satisfactorily, often in your favour, with a bit of sweetness and softness. I'm not asking you to do anything other than reflect on this. Think about how you would like to be treated and how you treat others. At the moment, you are setting a precedent. I suspect it is not the precedent you actually want to be setting. Misery 23:17, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!

GWW:1RR

You just violated it. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 07:33, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Only if it was the 'Undo' Button. I didn't press that, I pressed edit. Changed the wording it's self. And there's no where that says One can't decline after a certain 'Phase'. I can see withdrawel, only if it was accepted. I suggest you talk to Poke as I asked an Admin, before I did the declining. Asked for an okay to see if it 'was' a Decline, not a 'withdrawal'. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 07:48, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Oh, to say a User is right over an Admin is sad. Especially when it comes to elections. I thought we Elected people who 'knew' the policy and followed it, ones who would 'judge' a situation when needed. That they were the 'final' say so to speak. Especially ones who seem and apparently have been here longer than some of the 'users' and also involved (declining, etc.) in elections. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 07:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Just because you don't want to look like a fool, you yourself said you "weren't going to decline or accept", and then when the "community" made it apparent they were opposed to you, you WITHDREW. The simple fact is you violated GWW:1RR and I'm just trying to point out to you that you simply can't do that just because you don't agree. BTW rage quitting in IRC because you don't want to hear what I'm saying is rather 5th grade don't you think? Poke isn't god, and is just as likely to make a mistake as anyone. BTW... if you haven't noticed, I'm an admin too, and in this case, I happen to agree with Backsword (the world must be coming to an end). -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 07:58, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't hardly on THAT much to make a decision at the time. This statement was clear. And reading the 'policy' in no shape or form states either. In Previous Ones, it was noted as declined. Withdrawal, for those that had accepted then retaliated. Btw, didn't rage quit. I closed out Irc and yahoo, etc. to save memory resources, so I didn't have to restart until I went to bed. Nice Assumption btw. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 08:03, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Given we were in the middle of a conversation when you "closed out" Cool story.... -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 08:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Has happened before to me and my husband, before we got together (stayed together, marriage, etc.). We resumed conversation over the phone and he heard it restart. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 08:14, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
To make this clear, I just said that Ariyen is not required to continue to run if she doesn't want to, so she can simply decline/withdraw/whatever whenever she wants, and is not required to wait until the end of the election. I never said whether it has to be decline, withdraw or whatever word exists for that in english, I seriously don't care about what exactly it is called.. poke | talk 18:44, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

There is no need for 2 deletion tags. - Mini Me talk 11:19, 26 December 2009

I have removed one. -- My Talk Lacky 11:26, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Lacky and Oops @ Mini Me. I didn't see the other delete tag. :-P Although I don't think it'd hurt. It's still 'asked to be deleted. People can make mistakes. :-) -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 20:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand...

From Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for adminship/Wynthyst: I don't think this Reconfirmation is necessary either. She just needed to cool a little. Then why did you put your name under the list of people who want the reconfirmation? O.o - J.P.User J.P. Christmas sig.pngTalk 21:42, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Might as well ask Drogo why he thinks she should keep the 'sysops', when he created it. You agreed to that and I don't think people would understand that either... LOL I don't. So back on you. :-) If you can answer that, then you know my answer. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 21:44, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, that confussed me d(>_<)b
The RfR votes are intended to be somewhat independant. As such, it's expected for each user to hold his own reasons as to why he thinks a certain admin has to undergo a new RfA. The user may agree with others on a particular issue, but is still expected to think independantly instead of just jumping on the badwagon. Sadly, not everyone understands this.
To make it short, you don't need to agree or disagree with the first user to start a RfR in order to add your vote. As long as you think a new RfA for that admin is needed, any reason you have is valid, even if it has nothing to do with the other reasons stated.--Fighterdoken 22:14, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I believe there was a minor misunderstanding about what that section is for -- this has been addressed, as Ariyen moved her comment to talk instead of leaving it as a RfR. I've noted the same thing on Drogo's talk, as it appears he is not actually for a reconfirmation either. —Tanaric 11:14, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Birthday Boxes

I take it we are going to have a "who can get there faster to use their choice of birthday userbox template" every time someone's birthday is on? =P -- My Talk Lacky 14:14, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Just leave the birthdays to me, I do it for almost 1.5 years now =P -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 14:15, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Never! Besides, I've been at this wiki since about 2007 I believe. So almost 3 years for me. Oh, and I also created the blue birthday userbox myself. heh ^_^ =P -- My Talk Lacky 14:35, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
3 years here doesnt mean you do birthday wishes that long. =P -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 19:25, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Does it matter who uses the boxes? I don't see a problem with more than one using them. I'd think that's what they're there for - to be used. User C4K3 Facesmile.png No problem with me on this. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 20:29, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Gosh you're such a buzz-kill, I was only joking =P ^_^ Just merely relating to the fact the we seem to have a competition as to who can do it first heh -- My Talk Lacky 06:01, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Teeheee. I beat you to this one :-P~~~~ User C4K3 Facesmile.png -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 06:30, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't do it for everyone. I do it when my Watchlist is updated with a birthday response. =P -- My Talk Lacky 06:34, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Bad! I check the birthday list every day! I try to wish everyone on that list a happy birthday, beat that Lacky =P -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 09:51, 29 December 2009 (UTC)
Obsessed much? =P -- My Talk Lacky 03:05, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Lol, I think it's cool that someone wishes people a happy birthday. User C4K3 Facesmile.png -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 03:50, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Can we remove the categories tho. Im not sure if they all have it but I know Lacky has one that is kinda like DuH. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 04:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
If we remove the categories, they'll end up in the un-categorized area. However, I don't think it's necessary to have the categories on the pages we wish the user a happy birthday on. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 04:08, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

(Reset indent) So keep the templates categorised just dont put the templates on the user talk pages. esp [[Category:Users who celebrate birthdays]]. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 04:12, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

you can do the <noinclude></noinclude> around the categories of the userboxes to keep them from being included on user pages. I would suggest another box that basically says this user wishes members happy birthday or something like that. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 04:15, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Or you know, we could just go back to being cave people and just type "Happy Birthday!"~~~~. =P -- My Talk Lacky 06:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Like I do it for ages. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 15:32, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I agree with that. Userboxes are so not cool. User DrogoBoffin sig icon.png Drogo Boffin 15:33, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
They are so yesterday. =P -- My Talk Lacky 15:35, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
They are so 2009. -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 15:36, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
But... but... They are so... *Whine* Different. User C4K3 Facesmile.png -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 19:44, 30 December 2009 (UTC)

I've mentioned my thoughts on that article's talk page, but please don't revert more than once - I think you're probably familiar with GWW:1RR already. If you disagree with the other edits, discuss on the talk page. -- pling User Pling sig.png 21:27, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
