Sig

Hey, I noticed you're trying to test your signature in the sandbox -- you'll need to tick that "raw signatures" box so you can change it properly. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 01:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks alot Brains12! That box is called quite different in Dutch, so there didn't ring a bell when I saw it. But now it's solved! Thank you very much!! --User Dewdrop sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 01:51, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
No problem; just ask if you need any help. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 01:53, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
That's very kind Brains :) Since you request to keep the discussion on the talk page where you commented I will write this here. If you could help me with the margins on the user page. I've tried to get some space between the borders and the text, but I can't seem to pull it off :( I'm a total Wiki noob...so about alot of things/tags I have no clue what they do exactly, I made everything by trial and error, but until now I didn't manage to fix the margins. If you could help me with that I would appreciate it. --User Dewdrop sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 02:14, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
I've added some padding to the boxes around the text, so there's a bit of a gap between the border and the text. To increase it, just increase the number that I put in this edit (the bits on the right column highlighted in red). GWW:HELPERS has a list of other people who will help you with your userpage if necessary, and HELP:WIKI can be used to ask questions about anything related to the wiki.
Also, there may be a problem with your nav -- it includes the code __NOEDITSECTION__; as you're using it as a template on this talk page, it means that that code will pass along into this talk page and remove the edit sections -- that makes it a little harder to edit the page. Do you mind if I edited your tabs template to try and solve this? --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 11:48, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Thx for adding the padding, I tried to use it before but I prolly oversaw something. And thank you also for the helpfull links, I will take a look there soon :)
About the nav, I was already wondering how to get those edit sections. I would be grateful if you could sort it out for me. Is it also possible to exclude the links in my menu bar from the TOC? Or am I just stuck with that? Thx alot again Brain! I guess those wiki noobs can really be a pain in the *** :P --User Dewdrop sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 12:18, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I took out the headers and just increased the font size (with some bold), and took out the NOTOC and NOEDITSECTION. It'll look the same, but you'll be able to get a proper table of contents and edit sections. And it's not a problem, glad to help. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 12:55, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
By the way, if you're reuploading an image, wait a little while after you've done so -- it takes a while for the server to refresh (which is why the old image still appears). --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 12:58, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Thx alot, it looks great now ^^ And yeah about the images, I guess I found that out the hard way... The problem I had was that when I uploaded one of the images to GW the image got compressed a bit horizontally and I didn't understand what caused it. Well I still don't understand, cuz it only happened with one of the two images... But well I just made this one the same size as I want it to appear at and I guess it's solved now. --User Dewdrop sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 13:19, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, if you reupload a larger/smaller image, it normally gets pushed up/down to the size of the new one but still appears as the old one. Just needs time (an hour or so) to solve itself. The upload form has a little explanation. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 13:51, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Ow alright, that explains it ^^ Thx for all the help, I really appreciate it :) --User Dewdrop sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 14:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Me again :). You'll have to reupload your new signature icon (the moon shell thing) so it follows the user image naming -- e.g. User Dewdrop Moon Shell.png. All you have to do is save the image, go to Upload, and name it appropriately. Make sure you change your preferences to match the new image name when you're done. Guild Wars Wiki:Sign your comments has more info. Thanks --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 23:15, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Oops I'm sorry, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for pointing it out. I've changed it now ;) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 09:03, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
No problem (just one more thing though, the max size your image should be is 19x19px, so you'd have to lower the |25px you put). --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 13:51, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Yep read it and already did that (after I'd cut away some white around it ;)) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 13:55, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
It's still set as 25px -- you've got the code as [[Image:User_Dewdrop_Sig.png|19px|User_talk:Dewdrop|25px]], but it should be [[Image:User_Dewdrop_Sig.png|19px|User_talk:Dewdrop]]. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 14:04, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
oO thx, didn't see that >< What I don't understand is how your image can show so larger than mine when yours actually is set on 18px? -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 14:09, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Good point... I think you still have more white space around your image (click and hold on your image here and you'll see that there's some space between the dotted box and your image). --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 14:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't see a dotted box...but I took away some white and made it same height as width...I hope that will solve it. -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 14:29, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that looks ok now. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ talk 14:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Userpage

Most of my userpage is composed of bits a found at other users pages, so you are free to use and share it as long as you give credit where credit is due. Nice looking page! --Arduinna talk 19:05, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Thx Arduinna ;) --User Dewdrop sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 20:13, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Love your page Pepper. :)--bella talk 22:20, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Thank you Bella :) I see you have some big plans too ;) I'm looking forward to see how your pages will turn out. And I like the rose in your sig very much ^^ -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 13:11, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, now if I can only find the time to actually work on them. --bella talk 20:53, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
I love your page! It was awesome :) I am trying to figure out how make pages myself :) Tho atm im not any good at it :D -- Fraternal Hero
Thank you very much Fraternal, glad you like it x] I'm not that good at it either, I just copied stuff from other people and modified it with trial and error (a lot of it ;)). And some nice people here on the wiki helped me out with the things I couldn't figure out. So I'd say just hop around and see what you like. There are also quite some users who've made templates for userpages, that's the easiest way to make a nice page I guess ;) Good luck and have fun :) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 17:04, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

KISS

Hi, its Prepare To Burn, that annoying guy. I heard you say KISS gor disbanded on your userpage. Is this correct?

Best of luck getting Protector of Elona. Which missions are you stuck on? I have the title so i might be able to help. --Burning Freebies 16:29, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Hello Prepare To Burn, yes it is sad but true :( KISS has been disbanded but alot of people moved on into a new guild/alliance (lead by James). If you want more information about that I think you'd better ask someone who's actually in that new guild/alliance, cuz I don't know much about it ;). Thx for offering your help with my title, the mission I'm stuck on is called "lack of free time" sometimes together with "total lack of free time" :P. Just too many things to do, irl atm mainly, but also in game ;) So thx for offering your help, if I really get stuck on a mission I will remember your kind offer :) -- User Dewdrop Sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 16:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for that info, i had better delete those pages about the alliance. Know i know why Kurzick KISS didnt own a town anymore. And if you do get stuck, dont hestiatate. Nice new sig! --Burning Freebies 16:51, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Maybe not be so hasty with that Prepared To Burn. If I'm right those guilds still exist, just at this moment they are not active (I think, as I said better ask someone who is up to date ;)). So maybe let the owner(s) of the guild(s) decide if their page has to be deleted already or not... And thx, I always loved moonshells, so when I ran into an image of it, it was quickly decided to add it to my sig ;) -- User Dewdrop Sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 16:58, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Ill try and contact James in game to see if the pages should be deleted. Thanks for the help. --Burning Freebies 16:13, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Eehhh Burning...Yesterday Bunny wrote that guilds can not be deleted and you said on her page that it made sense to stop the deletion. And as you have seen on the NOS talk page it is already been taken care of. So plx stop writing about this, I'm sure Chris and Wynthyst can handle it. -- User Dewdrop Sig.pngPepper - Dewdrop talk 18:27, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Talk page formatting

I made a slight change on your talk page formatting. The TOC was overlapping the welcome box in FF3 (not sure about other browsers. I moved it to the right instead. Feel free to change it if you don't like it. Oh.. and the reason I was here to begin with, don't put hyphens in your image names. By placing the hyphens it disrupts the ownership of the image. Thanks!--Wyn's Talk page Wyn 10:27, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Thx for formatting, it didn't overlap in IE, so I didn't see it. And about the images...didn't know it, Photoshop puts in the hyphens... so I will go take them all out then (*sigh* just when I thought I was finished :P). Can I delete the ones with the hyphens and upload new ones without hyphens? Or is there any way to just change it? -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 10:32, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
You can leave them in on the ones you've uploaded, I just meant for future. The easiest way to upload images with the right name is to create the link where you want to put them and then click on the link. It will upload the image (no matter what the file name is on your computer) to the correct image name here. <3 Didn't meant to stress you out! --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 10:54, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
Ow ok, so I will remember to do it that way in the future ;) Thanks for that tip, it will make it much easier ^^ -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 10:59, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Signature Image

Hey Dewdrop. At the moment your signature image is a bit out of line on the policy. If I'm looking at your singature code right, your image is at 20px instead of 19px, the reccomended image size for signatures. Even 20px signatures can break some page text >_<. Think you can change that? Thanks! --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 14:30, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

WT.... look at the Sig section above.. I believe Brains has already addressed that issue :P --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 14:32, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
I asked for that >___<. Thanks Wyn. I'm not attentive at 5am... --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 14:34, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Permission 4 Possum

I asked Possum to check my grammar on the pages, since I'm Dutch. So he has permission to adjust my text ;) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 17:14, 3 September 2008 (UTC) nvm grammar talk is over here. -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 17:17, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

problems

as you asked for help on User talk:Seru, i made a little change to your character template. the description section is now limited to a maximum of 300px height. anything that would go over this height will he hidden and instead a scroll bar will appear. you can adjust that height to your needs of course :) - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 21:26, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks alot Y0 :) As I said on Seru's talk page I had to get used to the scroll bars a little, but I think it's a good solution. I was wondering if it's possible to change the color of the scroll bars and if the empty space between the top part (bullets and picture) and bottom part (description with scroll bars) could be made smaller. I just changed the maximum height of the description section (just cuz I'd rather make it so I don't see the scroll bars on my own screen ;)), but now the boxes are not lined out well anymore :( I didn't change the right figure? Or something else is going on? -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 08:29, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
As for the height thingy I already fixed it :) It was cuz it said "max-height" so I just changed that to "height". Now the only questions left are the empty space and the color of the scroll bars. -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 12:02, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
as i said on seru's talk, there were two solutions and seru put through the second one for you. he set the heights to a fixed 250px. the problem with this is now: 250px is too much space which leads to the empty space. it's the same with the description box: with max-height:300px it would stretch to 300px and then add a scroll bar for more, with height:300px it's always 300px, even if the text is actually smaller, which then leads to an empty space below the text. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 14:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
oh, i forgot: afaik you can't change the scroll bars as they are windows interaction elements. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 15:02, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
to fix the problem with this little space: we could reduce the fixed height to fit your boxes. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 15:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't understand it...cuz when the height was max 200px there were scroll bars and this empty space. Then I changed it to 300px, scroll bars disappeared (on my screen that is ;)), but empty space is still there. Now if I understand you right your solution would be to lower the height. But wouldn't we get the same situation as before with the 200px height? -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 15:59, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
the empty space between birthday etc. and description has nothing to do with the div the description is in. did you just copy+paste code you found that makes boxes etc? if you want me to, i can explain the whole thing to you, because there's loads of code in there you don't need at all. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 16:20, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I used someone elses template (Funky Jah's if I remember right). I only adjusted the colors and some words though... If it's simple then I would like to read the explanation, but if not then I'm afraid you are wasting your time on me ;) I'm just a wiki noob and I doubt that will ever change... So if it's less work for you to only fix it, I will be happy with that, you don't need to explain per se ;) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 16:26, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) well, about formatting in general i could link you to this page. about this box in specific: currently you have one division (i.e. a box) with ritualist color border and background and a background picture fitting to profession. then there's the heading and below a table with two cells. the first one is for birthday etc. and the second one next to it for the picture. seru made this table exactly 250px high, so if the text is shorter than 250px, it will still be that big and leave a space (which causes the current problem). below that table is another division (box) with the description. i made this box be as big as the text inside and, in case it gets bigger than 300px instead add a scroll bar. right now though it's fixed at 300px, so even if the text is smaller (like for the last two characters), the box will still be 300px high and leave a space again.
the problem with setting fixed heights is always that heights actually depend on browser width, so in the end you can't make it look good at all browser sizes this way. we could instead do what i proposed as a) on seru's talk. we remove the fixed height for birthday etc. so the space problem is solved. then we make your character page a table. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 16:49, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Ok I think I get it. So yes, I would like to try your option. I appreciate the work Seru did, but if making it a table would solve the problems I'd rather go for that. Btw this guide page looks great, I don't have time now (almost 10 pm and I'm still working :( ) but I will sure look into that later ;) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 19:57, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
i changed the character page now. try making your browser very small so that the boxes are not all same size. you will see that the boxes still are different size, but now they're aligned so they don't look as disorganized. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 20:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
Great job Y0 :) I just adjusted some text so that the boxes next to eachother have about the same amount of text so they line out better at the bottoms. I played a bit with the height that Seru has set for the top part, and I came to the conclusion that the change Seru made is the best option. Yes on certain widths you will have this empty space, but this way the bottoms of the boxes will be less out of sync. So I have peace now with the empty space ;) It's nice that it's in the middle and just shows the tango-icon better ;) I think that it will look good now on most screens ^^ I have a widescreen myself, so I can't really see how it turns out on a normal screen. But I think it's cool now. So thank you all very much! :) -- User_talk:DewdropPepper - Dewdrop talk 22:02, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
ok, guess it's good as long as you like it ^^ - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 22:13, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
