One : will move you forward one indent. You typically indent one : farther than the previous edit on talk pages for the sake of knowing what came when and clarity of reading.

If you really really need to have a userpage layout, you can take a look at mine. Insanely simple, just indents and links, since I don't understand much more than you do. First of all, slow down :P - no one makes or learns perfect wiki formatting the first time they join a wiki and on their first day. The best way to learn is to take it slow, look around other people's userpages and their code, and build your own page piece by piece. Use the help centre to get your bearings and improve your understanding, as well. You'll get frustrated more easily if you try doing it perfectly in the first five minutes than if you take your time and do it over several days or weeks - I had trouble with my own userpages when I first joined, but I eventually got the hang of it. -- pling 19:19, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
