Dude!

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Suwash isn't a pirate. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Captain_Jetsam is. Steve1 (talk) 17:53, 11 January 2017 (UTC) Edit: Lol, looks like I'm watching the wiki non-stop. :D

Oh, pish-posh and technicalities. I think some dev took a liking to the idea of someone not-so-pirate-like person becoming a pirate (i.e. our Suwash), and created the quaggan in gw2 along the same vein. If the wording there isn't clear enough, totally change it. But I'm of the mind that there was definite inspiration. G R E E N E R 20:19, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

bring user page back?

Would you be able to reenable my user page? I'm returning to the game and would like to contribute again. Thanks. --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 02:12, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

I've restored the pages and images that I could find. If there are some I missed, leave a link to them below. G R E E N E R 08:17, 23 March 2017 (UTC)
Thank you! --adrin User Adrin mysig.jpg 23:46, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Location brackets

Is it possible for historical content template to auto-suppress the location brackets? Historical NPCs are still categorized by location Example --Falconeye (talk) 17:30, 4 May 2017 (UTC)

I'm assuming you mean you'd like {{NPC location}} to check if {{historical content}} is on the page, and then not produce Category:Chaos Planes NPCs or the like? I took a quick glance at MediaWiki, and didn't find too much. Will have to dig deeper later tonight. G R E E N E R 23:16, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
I've not been able to find any way for a template to detect what categories are set to be applied to a page. My best guess is that the templates are processed prior to the page being able to tell them that it has the Historical content category. G R E E N E R 08:44, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for checking. --Falconeye (talk) 05:11, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
If we had put location and status info into the {{NPC infobox}} like they did on the gw2w, then we could have had all such fun. : ( One template to rule them all! G R E E N E R 07:55, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
I assume that cannot be done with GWW? The coding their able to do in GW2 wiki makes me wish this wiki had those. --Falconeye (talk) 02:48, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Range

A previous consensus resulted in this: Category:Spell ranged skills. Can you auto merge them? or redirect all instances of "range:spell" to "range:cast"--Falconeye (talk) 02:48, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

I left a request for a bot to run through those. If it doesn't catch someone's eye, I'll start poking. G R E E N E R 16:47, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Will be afk over the long weekend

Just letting you folks know that I won't be around until late Monday, or more likely until Tuesday morning. As usual, other eyes will be watching over this wiki.

To my fellow Canadians, Happy 150th! To those of you from the US, send off a firework for me. To the French out there, please only march on a prison if it is truly warranted. To the... omg, how many nations celebrate something at this time of year?! G R E E N E R 15:16, 30 June 2017 (UTC)

Skill history

See Example. Is there a way to suppress all "non-Skill histories" categories? --Falconeye (talk) 21:18, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

You mean such as | categorize = n? That should stop categories from being created. G R E E N E R 04:42, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Likely the combination of ; and/or ( ) after a square bracket ( ] ), which is a common occurrence in advertisement bot edits. But then again I cannot see the contents of the filter, so good luck figuring it out! - Infinite - talk 19:54, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, that particular filter looks for key words, none of which my ol' eyes could match to the edit that was blocked. I'll sit down with it for a better look later tonight. Probably something silly which I'm overlooking, like your suggestions above. G R E E N E R 20:10, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
It's the edit summary. Note the rmwhitespace on the conditions. - Tanetris (talk) 03:32, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
Ha! Love it. Thanks for solving that one. Given that there's a future chance of this happening again, I removed the flagged word from our list. G R E E N E R 06:25, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Greener doing his job?

Since/if you are, I want to direct your attention to this: File:User Infinite Screenshot 2017-11-07-11-53-57.png
An emoji on the main page is just very cringe. It's been there for a very long time, the little sneaky bastard. - Infinite - talk 14:08, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

Fixed, thanks! G R E E N E R 22:48, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

AFK

I'll be gone for a few days from the evening of the 8th to the 12th. Only break things if you truly feel they need to be broken. G R E E N E R 04:30, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

You appear to be back. I return to my 1000-year slumber. - Tanetris (talk) 11:25, 13 February 2018 (UTC)

Tedious Work For NOTHING!

Greener, I've been spending the last 4 days or so adding in pages/sub-pages for our alliance in-game. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to use the search box to find the page! I'm just trying to get it to where new folks that want to look us up can go to the search box and type out "Legit Alliance" or "LGiT" etc. I feel like I've done all my page creation / editing for NUFFIN! -- Kurzick Krozz (talk) 01:10, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

You *MUST* type "guild:<insert guild>" command for the desired effect. --Falconeye (talk) 04:03, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
Yes, the wiki will presume you're searching for a main space article until you type in guild:; it will then switch over to the guild space. You could go over to the full search page and choose the guild space, but that's tedious. G R E E N E R 05:31, 21 May 2018 (UTC)

ArenaNet:

Steph forgot to cat: ArenaNet:Personal Information Removal. Might as well tag all 'ArenaNet:<article>' pages with Category:ArenaNet for easy navigation while at it; I'd do it, but they are restricted. --Falconeye (talk) 23:44, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

Done. Misread the word "all". Will look into doing this perhaps later. G R E E N E R 17:01, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
I've glanced back and forth on this a few times, and it would seem that Category:ArenaNet is designed to gather pages about the company (ArenaNet) rather than the namespace (ArenaNet). Was there a selection of pages, or a certain style of page, in that namespace which you feel should be moved into that category? G R E E N E R 05:17, 24 July 2018 (UTC)

Fragility

Michiko offers skills which are already offered by Xu Fengxia in Ran Musu Gardens. If you look at the other three Mesmer skills offered by XF, they all have Michiko in their skill trainer section. But the Michiko pages doesn't list any of those 4. So that IP addition made it consitent with 3 other pages. Steve1 (talk) 18:16, 15 July 2018 (UTC)

Oh dear, thank you for pointing that out! To show you how long it's been since I've been in-game, I pictured Ran Musu Gardens as being Tanglewood Copse. G R E E N E R 22:26, 15 July 2018 (UTC)
Hey, at least you didn't think it was Tanglewood Corpse. ;-P Steve1 (talk) 05:56, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Le sigh... I have been hearing that a lot of new players have been jumping into gw1, so that's wonderful news! Maybe I should boot it up and hide amongst them. G R E E N E R 15:12, 16 July 2018 (UTC)
Really? Game becoming more popular? Nice!
How about a new nick then? Greenerhorn maybe? ;-P Steve1 (talk) 16:47, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

q prereq

How come A New (profession) trainer has "Completed primary profession test (elementalist, mesmer, monk, necromancer, ranger, or warrior)" as a prereq? That info is redundant since Further Adventures requires the PPTest. Steve1 (talk) 21:51, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

got it. | test = n is the thing. ;) Steve1 (talk) 22:33, 23 September 2018 (UTC)
Glad I could help? ; ) . G R E E N E R 00:23, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

I make like, one meaningful edit after a decade of absence, and then I get an alert that you thanked me for it. I feel so lost now. xD --User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Traveler (talk) 07:36, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

So sayeth the wandering traveler. G R E E N E R 01:39, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

Aww shucks

Guess I have no choice now; what do you need for GW2W? - Infinite - talk 03:03, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

I'm just planning the April Fools' Day event. Not going to detail what will be done on my talk page, but if you're interested I can email you. There's also some old js code by poke that I was planning to steal, but I have no idea how to put it together. I do know that gw2 isn't your cup of tea, so no pressure ; ). G R E E N E R 22:54, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
I guess I could try to conjure up a new profession reveal again! But on a more serious note, I don't have much spare time left on my hands. Not in a position to make any promises on how much I could help, but you may always email me for insight and such. :] - Infinite - talk 09:16, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
Alright, I'll try to fire off a quick email either tonight or on Monday. G R E E N E R 18:44, 5 January 2019 (UTC)

Did a pretty bad job there, Kevin. Plus there's this new wiki-bully Greendude or so who's trying to shanghai wikiusers to do obscure stuff for some wiki which I bet doesn't even exist. You should ban that guy immediately!

Happy new year btw! Steve1 (talk) 17:55, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

I'll hunt him down via a Benny Hill montage. All the best to you and yours in the new year! G R E E N E R 19:32, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Gallery

Apparently, there is a low-requirement bow that is not displaying properly on Gallery of low requirement unique items. I do not know what's preventing it. --Falconeye (talk) 19:02, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Did a hack job to "fix" it. Thanks for pointing that out. G R E E N E R 19:39, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Enjoy

... the next few days. Gonna leave on a bt. ;-D Steve1 (talk) 18:01, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

Botting

A process needs to be implemented to notate when guilds use third party programs and are categorized as victorious in monthly tournaments. The fact that it is blatantly being ignored here is acting as encouragement to their foul play. If you feel it has no place on the wiki, maybe it is best you discontinue the gold trim list effective after 2012 August since that is when GW2 was released. If the devs can't be bothered to correct the situation, then maybe we shouldn't be maintaining the information on the website. Gladiator Motoko (talk) 03:23, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

If Anet takes action and removes a gold trim, we'll make a note of it. I know you and others are not a fan of the dispassionate voice we use on the wiki, but that is not going to change. Greener (talk) 03:30, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
