Carol of the Bells

I've recently noticed (after 3 Wintersdays, XDDD) that the main theme you can hear in Kamadan during Wintersday it's one of many versions of the Ukrainian theme Carol of the Bells. I checked my Directsong files and music CDs and could not find it there. Would it be possible to add a "Festival Pak One" (much like the Battle Pak One) with all the festival and special event themes? I'd surely buy that one too. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 01:33, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Yes please~, or maybe its an idea to place it on the website! Didis 20:02, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't think this is a possibility. Our audio team is really hard at work on GW2, and our web team has been affected by the layoffs at NCsoft. Any extra work is going to overburden them. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 05:08, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

E3

Hi Regina. Will ArenaNet be attending E3 this year? If a decision hasn't been made yet, what do you think the odds are of ArenaNet attending? I do realize its bit early in the year to ask this, but several other companies have already announced their return to E3. Thanks for your time! - Marisa 22:41, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

What would they show off? ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 05:40, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
NCsoft is not attending E3, nor is ArenaNet. That's the word I have from marketing. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 23:46, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
are you guys comeing to pax 2009? 75.165.102.188 06:52, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
They where there last year, and the year before, wouldn't surprise me if they are again this year. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 16:27, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
We're going to be at PAX, but we don't know what our presence is going to be like at the moment. GW2 is still in development, and GW1 is in maintenance mode, so it may not make sense for us to spend as much money on our PAX activities as we did in previous years. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 05:06, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

GW Book Question

I only wanted to ask when we will see the books. Will we be able to read them before the release of GW2 ( Please say yes lol). If you cannot answer my question I do fully understand. Thanks.--99.49.110.120 03:08, 13 February 2009 (UTC) I forgot to sign in /cry :'( --The Cyphero 03:09, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Why do people keep asking questions that, deep down, they already know they won't get a straight answer? -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 06:45, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

They haven't given me a release schedule for the novels. I know it's hard to be patient. I'd love to read the novels myself as well. But we haven't received any information about scheduling yet. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 19:27, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
I only ask due to my own curiosity. Thank you Regina for answering so quickly. --99.49.110.120 17:34, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Why does anet offer to reconnect you after an 007?

It never works and you always 007 out. That note that I have to check my connection is a joke. If i'm watching a youtube or talking on vent while on a vq, it's not my connection. They should just remove it in general. The only way to (hopefully) reconnect is to end process or force shutdown, and even that doesn't work. Whats the deal with all the 007's recently anyway? Being 5 enemies from a 300+ enemy vq and then dc'ing isn't fun =\ --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 17:55, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I reconnect successfully after 007's. Often this is caused by a problem with my internet connection. Misery 19:04, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I tend to reconnect normally. Personally i think the feature is a life send! My laptop is a bit on the crap side and overheats alot. Without the feature I would never get a vanquish completed! -- Salome User salome sig2.png 23:51, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
laptop!?! Thanks for the great laugh! And I can allow myself the laugh as I play from a Thinkpad T40! (Ralmon the Gen 05:34, 7 February 2009 (UTC))
Stable connection is a key to James-Bond-Free environment =) This includes OS without malicious tunneling software and/or using up some if not all of your already chocked Internet connection to stream videos and voice. In some rare occasions when there are loads of people online, like a AB weekend, you could get a higher ping, still it will probably not even effect your game play. Biz 09:18, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Occasionally I will just randomly disconnect. I'm given the option to reconnect, but if I try, it fails. There have been times when I've disconnected and successfully reconnected, but I can usually tell when I won't be able to, as the minute or so before the disconnect registers have some defining characteristics - my character will stop responding to any commands other than to turn in place, all other characters will freeze, and while effect durations decrease normally (remaining bleeding duration counts down in effects monitor and my health keeps dropping, etc) they will never drop to 0 (so if 1 second of bleeding is left when this starts it'll take me down to 1hp). After a minute or two of this, the disconnect screen pops up, asks me if I want to reconnect, I say yes, it spends a minute or two trying and then returns me to the log-in screen with an error 007 message. This has happened to me enough times to be rather annoying (and that I've stopped trying to reconnect when I know it will just fail) - one time, I killed Fendi at the end of a Shards of Orr run and this happened on my walk over to the end chest -_- ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 11:53, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
I often have streaming radio going while I am playing and what I have noticed is that if my connection recovers before the "Do you wish to try to reconnect?" dialogue appears (noted my my music stream resuming), then the reconnect attempt is very likely to fail. I always try anyway though because sometimes I'm wrong. Misery 12:34, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
I managed to successfully reconnect at least five times today, and it's an AB weekend. Not that it did much good for my teams, but...at least the system works. :\ Usually if I'm in PvE, though, it fails...I'm guessing there are different kinds of disconnects, and the feature works better for some than others. Vili User talk:Vili 14:29, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
OP - read this. In old days (when there was only Guild Wars before it got named to Prophecies) whenever someone disconnected in middle of UW or a mission or whatever, that was it. That player was gone and everybody suffered as a result. This feature was added and to be frank it was one of best improvements Anet made. At least with this feature players had a chance to get back to where they were when they disconnected. Because it doesn't work at all for some people doesn't mean it should be removed. Sorry if it didn't work for you and some of the others but it certainly works for me 99% of the time. – User Barinthus Magical Compass.png Barinthus 23:10, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry I've had this game for 43 months, i remember that when you dc'd thats it. We lost 1 player in a HoH run every run back then, of course that when people used to play HA =\ I'm just saying it seems like a kick in the nuts when it says reconnect? and then oh nevermind. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 09:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry that you haven't been able to reconnect successfully every time. The system seems to be working as a whole, and I haven't seen any reports of problems with it. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 00:56, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
The system is strong enough to reconnect me after a BSoD. — Jon User Jon Lupen Sig Image.png Lupen 00:58, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

(RI)It doesn't seem to be a problem with the client after a restart. (IE terminating the GW.exe process and restarting it will almost always result in a successful reconnect (unless the problem with the connection is still there), but when reconnecting without terminating the process I've noticed that it does not properly reconnect many times. I would suspect that there is a minor issue somewhere in there that was added after the change(s) to prevent duping, (since I cannot recall such an overall trend before this happened.) In general. If you get dropped. Minimize the client, open a task manager, nuke the process, and restart. You should almost always reconnect.

Then again, it may be random chance that I have problems reconnecting without nuking the process. Try for yourself and decide. Kelvin Greyheart 04:09, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

A tip to try out when reconnecting is to see whether you can browse websites. Only reconnect when you can do so reliably. Also, if you dced and your party enters a new map it's gg.
