updating pics[edit]

Nice work on those updated weapon skins. Ty Justice (talk) 06:23, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

You're welcome, and more to come :) —Scribeton (talk) 12:04, 19 October 2020 (UTC)

Adding weapons to foe drops.[edit]

there's no need to add normal random drops to things like on Hanchor Trueblade. The boss pages just show trophies, salvageables, and, their unique. Its a policy if everything possible was listed just think how long those lists would be. Those bows drop from many vabbian foes/chests. https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Wiki:Formatting/NPCs#Items_dropped Durp da durp (talk) 09:16, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

I didn't know, thanks, I'll keep in mind for a future. I see that the edit has already been undone, solved then. —Scribeton (talk) 12:47, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Similar to npcs[edit]

Weapons don't get specific foes if everything drops the skin. Elonian Blade drops everywhere in Elona from nearly everything. Some stuff like the ancient weapons only drop from desolation wildlife supposedly, but not from awakened, that's why they are noted as they are. If someone finds them dropping more places they would have the new foe family added. If enough new drops occur it would just be 'desolation, random drop'. Exceptions to the rule are things like Magmas Shield which is only titans, or, the os IDS from ice imps in mineral springs. https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Wiki:Formatting/Weapons Oh, I like some of your weapon renders btw. If you chest run in nf, one project that would be maybe useful too is adding if locked chests drop skins missing them as a source. Not sure if 'random drop' includes chests, but many things like the ancient weapons don't specify chests, but, other weapons do. Just an idea if you get bored. Durp da durp (talk) 08:28, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Annotated, and thank you. Regarding the chests, I have a stack of lockpicks pending to use between Vabbi and The Desolation desert (I have to replace some of my Q10-11's with Q9's), so yes, if I find something missing from inside the chests I will edit the pages. The uncommon/purple Ancient Daggers dropped from a Locked Chest in Joko's Domain for example, but I don't remember the others. —Scribeton (talk) 02:08, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Current bug with uploading images[edit]

HOW DARE YOU overwrite my beautiful tooltip screenshot??

Okay all joking aside, there's currently a bug preventing images from displaying their most recent version immediately; it seems like the cache is getting stuck on an old version. So don't get concerned if your new version doesn't appear right away; it should appear sometime in the next 48-256 hours, whenever the wiki decides to update it. horrible | contribs 22:07, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Apologies XDDDD you already know that I'm currently updating the wiki with HD pictures and screenshots of green item descriptions, so I wanted to put this one before storing the sword on my mule character. Regarding the cache, yes, I noticed the problem, previously I only had to clear the cache of my browser after each upload, and then refresh the article page itself to see the new preview. I assumed that the problem was due to recent maintenance of the wiki, so no problem. I see the picture has been replaced with an {item info} description, so it's fine, don't worry. —Scribeton (talk) 00:40, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Spiked Targe[edit]

Denravi Sword[edit]

Discussion moved to Talk:Denravi_Sword. The section could be deleted if and when Scribeton wishes so. Foo 14:11, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Forest of True Sight[edit]

How do oyu know where exactly it is located? Steve1 (talk) 19:26, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

Short version: I've gone to the place xD
Long version (to put in context): A few months ago I decided to check the entire Historical content section to see if there was anything that could be updated, with the help of the German wiki, the unofficial wiki, and the GW Guru forum archive that is available through GW Legacy. There were quite a few zones that I had to cover entirely with the free camera mode and various angles to make sure I didn't miss anything, and all this time I have been collecting screenshots and information that, when I had time, I planned to update here. Some information is confirmed, some is speculation, and some is taken from other users' comments (I try to specify this in each article or phrase, and I try to include the source in case it still exists). I'm on vacation and I wanted to do it now. As you can see, yesterday I updated the Ahmtur Arena file all at once, as well as other articles. I had saved all of this for at least a year, but I had to find the moment. Regarding the Forest of True Sight, it was another pending. As you know, all the areas in the game owe their name to something inside or related to them, that is absolute. Normally the name of a zone refers to the entire zone, end to end (usually), so when I saw the article of the Forest of True Sight I wondered what the reason for the change could be. Since I didn't remember what was in there, I went to Talmark Wilderness article to consult it, and I saw that there was absolutely nothing in that area. I personally went to the place ingame and I started to explore the place with the free camera mode, until I saw the place with the pillars and all that on the highest peak on the map, so I connected the dots. Pillars + Engraved Runes + Trees in a circle + Wind chimes (or at least I think that's what it is) = The supposed forest the name speaks of. In any fictional medium with druids, shamans and rituals, these objects or settings have been used to reach enlightenment, so if the place was called "True Sight" it had something to do with that. Also we have the Temple of the Ages at the right and Maguuma below, where everything there is related to spirits and nature. What I think that happened is that they changed the name because it referred to that piece of area in particular, instead of the general zone itself, so changing the name to Talmark Wilderness to cover the entire map was better. Also I had in mind that since the 2004 Betas many names were changed, like "Stormcaller" to "Nolani Academy", "The Perilous North" to "The Great Northern Wall", etc. That's pretty much the context I arrived at after checking everything. Scribeton (talk) 13:45, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
On the wiki, we document facts. So if there's some in-game info that says this marked area is the Cauldron of Eternity for eample, we note it accordingly on the wiki. If some ANet person states something we note it as well. But if people just arrive by some info through deduction and puzzling pieces together it's considered interpretation or deduction.
The "best case" in such a case could look like this: Arachnia Plateau where it's noted that the info is gleaned from the gw.dat file.
At least that's my understanding, maybe others can chime in.
So if it's only deduction it shouldn't be presented as a clear fact. Steve1 (talk) 17:42, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
I was going to search inside the .dat before writing it but unfortunately I don't have the unpacker anymore (it was called GwDatBroswer I believe), the only one I find now is one that needs to be compiled, but I don't know how to do it, the last one I had was already compiled in a .exe. But regarding all the Arachnia zones, that's exactly what I was saying (I was going to update those articles too with screenshots from above), and in fact the Plateau is a dead giant spider https://i.ibb.co/Bfg2bQt/1.jpg (if that's Arachnia herself I don't know). I have not checked each and every one of the maps in the game but I am sure that there are more areas like this, I don't think my assumption is wrong... Scribeton (talk) 12:56, 13 September 2023 (UTC)
