You could make a page called User:Vanguard/sig and put {{subst:User:Vanguard/sig}} in your preferences. That way your sig will essentially be whatever is the content of that page, without breaching GWW:SIGN. People might still complain that it's too long, though. — Why 20:20, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

If you use, for instance, {{User:Vanguard/sig}}, people will complain you're using a template in your sig. I can usually AGF but you can't always assume good faith when its an IP editing a userpage, because IPs do not have a userpage. Different scenario. I, as well as others, know for sure that you are not me; we own different user accounts and there's no way that my userpage is your userpage. Your edit would probably be reverted, unless it was a maintenance edit or something. With an IP editing a userpage, it's possible that the IP is that user; you can assume good faith and not look at the edit at all, or you could look at the edit and come to an educated guess as to whether it is that user logged out (and assume some good faith and leave it) or a malicious edit. It could be me; I could have completed something in-game, come onto the wiki but not logged in, and updated my character page. When the real me comes online, I'd revert because I'm the only person who knows for sure that it wasn't me.
