Uhm, a little correction: Memento Mori was a phrase uttered by the slave of a roman general attending a triumph (i.e. Victory celebration). It was said after the battle was won, successfully at that, and only to the commanding officer in charge. This was done to curb his pride and prevent him from rising against his masters. Linky.
