The Community...[edit]
...as a whole, for any game, is trash. As soon as you count out the few gems of decent people in a game, all that's left is pure garbage. Don't go looking for a good community, because you won't find one. Personally, over the years, games, schools, and interactions with people, I've lost my faith in humanity and people in general. There is a small number of people that make it all worth while, but their numbers are dwindling. I've always been very stead-fast, strong and resolute in my faith in a various number of things, and gaming with groups outside of my close friends has shaken and shattered my faith in the masses as decent people. — Jon Lupen 05:59, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

- (Edit conflict) (I don't belong here, but... Owait, only supports a point...) To be honest, I figured this out a long ago. I also figured out that these said gems can still randomly turn around, stab you in the back, and say: "Fuck you, I've got more important people to care about.". Because of this, and the decreasing amount of these sort of people, I'm becoming increasingly content with a life of solitude (and trolling -nods-). Another point here, you can always lose the people who you find to be decent enough to be associated with. In other words "fate", if you will, can always say "Fuck you" too. I'm probably going to end up being one of those people who die alone. (Avoidant personality disorder ftw~!) Btw, Vili. I agree completely, I'd do the same as you, but I still have a select few keeping me on Guild Wars (for now). ~ Ryuu[ Talk|Contributions ] 06:18, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

A few hours and a couple of donuts later.[edit]
As is fitting, I'll post this on wiki, like everything's always been posted on wiki.
The first thing that came to mind was a quiet, shaky, "Why?". Why are you leaving? Why are you leaving me?
But you answered that quite well: "It's nothing personal - it's not about you at all." "At some point Guild Wars stops being fun" is a statement that I can relate to. Whether it's trying to monk while your party drowns in hexes, not being able to Frenzy in RA because you can't afford to take Empathy damage with no healer, winning AB too easily (or, conversely, losing because of terrible allies), or even lagging to the point where you can't bloody do anything reasonably well... I'm not going to ask you to stay and not have fun, because that's what it's about. Guild Wars is a game, and if it's not fun, well, why are we here?
This is a bit off-topic, but that's a bit of advice that I take into everything I do in life. "I'm not going to ask you to do this and not enjoy it, because that's not what life is about." In the end (unless you're religious), all life measures up to is how much you enjoyed it. Whether you get that feeling from helping yourself or altruism, materialism or something deeper, fitting in or standing out... the only thing that matters is the journey. There is no destination save a casket or whatnot, so (1) make the most of every step along the way and (2) don't do anything you'll regret later. I don't mean "be super prudent and build a stable future", I mean "have some fun, in whatever way best suits you". If you don't take any of my other advice with you, take that bit.
Anyway.
I'll be around here (for a while, anyway), and I've given you my email. You have my Vent info. I won't be hard to contact, if you're so inclined.
As far as your stuff, your accounts... I'd rather you have it all. But that's being unreasonable, now isn't it? Barring that, I'd accept, gladly. It... It means a lot to me.
Wow, this feels so... final.
Jeez.
I'm going to miss you, too. You're truly one of the few people with whom it's been such a pleasure to have associated with. I know it gets thrown around a lot, but I love you. "Your happiness and well-being are important to me."
Farewell, and best of luck. Take care of yourself. Raine - talk 03:02, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- 11/10, would read again, would also appreciate said vent info if you care to email it to me. -- Armond Warblade{{Bacon}} 03:51, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
really I lol hard at the srsness of the wiki.what the wiki need is all trolls, guildies("friends") and sockpuppets gone.--Wealedout 23:30, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Then you'd have no one interesting left. Vili 点 00:37, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know if I will be on vent. It's the same doubt that is telling me to stay off the #irc channels - threat of regression etc. when people talk about Guild Wars, updates, wiki happenings, and so on. Guild Wars and its related things are an addiction, and there's a certain period of time that has to pass before, for example, someone trying to quit smoking can be comfortable around cigarettes again. Although if more legendary people like Armond are gonna be there...
- I know what your email is, but I'm tired of badgering the mail daemon trying to guess the exact combination of characters is. A reminder would be nice. That being said, email sucks. It is entirely incomparable to even the most basic of other utilities for maintaining a relationship - even simple instant messaging or PMs are far superior. True story.
- I will send my account info(s) through the wikimail. Vili 点 23:32, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

- My GW .dat file was quite a bit larger than 4 GB, thank you very much Mr. Code Expert. You're also not thinking of the gigabytes of screenshots, and the fact that I used GWx2 because I'm a pussy who isn't brave enough to edit the registry and is too jewish to buy another computer.
- Mizzles - there are always a few small matters to finish up when one says they are leaving. That's rarely their very final edit. Vili 点 23:32, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- Get back here. Now.

- That's like asking a retiring pothead to at least pop into the clinic every now and then to say hi.
- However, thinking about a certain other character, I will probably reappear right around election times and RfAs to participate in democracy. That's one of the few things I do care about in a community sense, because they're just hilarious. Vili 点 00:17, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- They are, aren't they? Misery 06:28, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- My GW .dat file was quite a bit larger than 4 GB — causing your lag? Just wondering. --mendel 08:46, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
- Negatory, fluctuations in the size of the .dat file are quite normal - you can ask various people how large theirs is, everyone will have a different answer. The only time it's a problem is with a marked difference (like many gigabytes bigger/smaller), and I wasn't near to that. Both of my .dat files were nearing 5 gb or so.
- Besides that, there's pretty clear differences between client-side errors (when my graphics card explodes, for instance) and lag or latency issues. The game itself played pretty much fine, it was just slow and unstable as hell. No graphical anomalies, no bugs, no text swappage, stuff loaded properly (if and when it did)... - It is the one book out of the 5-volume trilogy that drips with romance. It's very ... different ... than the other 3, and I don't know how a reader would identify with Arthur, the protagonist, if he had not read the rest. Thankfully, all of these volumes are easy reading, even though many people reread them again (most often over a dispute about what goes into a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster or some such). Fortunately, the movie is quite good, but contains of course nothing of SATFATF. --84.128.213.217 18:25, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

- Chinese arithmetic isn't so hard, unfortunately for Jebus. On a related note, you should try to learn the abacus sometime, Grinch. Or even just carry one around with you. People automatically assume you're srs smart. I also herd it improves the encounter rate for shiny Pidgeys. :> Vili 点 22:34, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
