(2) We are allowed to do what we want w/in the rules of the site. Wuhy didn't personally attack Regina. It was obvious that he intended to address Anet as a whole and not specifically her.

(3) Tradition actually sets legal precedent for practice. Why do you think homosexual marriage is still "illegal"? Because it's immoral? It's because of the precedent set in the 50s not allowing legal marriage between blacks and whites (no joke, that's the actual legal case in most states). I would agree that it's not "right", but it is still valid and funny.

Regina should have known better than to make that comment. As a CM, it's her job to know the community, and she should have realized how pissed most of us are. If she were good at her job, she would make comments intended to appease us and make us see her company in a better light rather than using veiled comments to explain away her company's intentions. A CM's job is to at least "pretend" to be on the side of the community. Right now....she looks like the enemy to a lot of people and that's what happens when you work the way she's worked. 1: No, it's not. Linsey's job is to design stuff for GW1, not to cater to the community's every whim and want here on the wiki. She is not bound by her job to be on the wiki at all. She is here of her own free will and on her own time, which is almost non-existent.

I'm the staff director at a state-run group home for teenagers [read:Foster care]. It also doubles as a drug-rehabilitation care center sometimes. Texas tends to do that with their facilities (which is apparently why I needed a masters degree for the job).

And to address your second point, I was in no way implying that we should exact something upon someone because they should expect it. However, if she comes here and says something with obvious intentions to excuse something away in an atmosphere that wont allow it (at least, not when it's gotten this far), how can you not expect what she got?

Look at it from my perspective. If I know a teenager has a knife and is mad at me, I'm going to try to calm him/her down and take it from him/her. I'm not going to walk past him/her and just make some nonchalant statement about how he/she should drop the knife because it's not my fault that [blank] happened and they're mad at me. She could EASILY make all of this easier on herself. If nothing else, she should just look at other CMs from other games or hell, even the past experiences or Gaile. It's not THAT hard. Again, I agree with you. But still....there's something to be said for holding them accountable to what they did. There are cause and effects with these types of things. Like I said, I don't knowingly put myself into situations where I can get stabbed....that's just stupid. Regina shouldn't knowingly put herself in situations where she knows the people will become angry at what she's saying....and if she didn't know that that statement would cause that kind of reaction, then shame on her for not knowing her community.

I hope we can all get something positive out of this experience and hopefully this doesn't escalate more.....however, if something isn't done....I fear the old fashioned maxim of "ignoring the community until it goes away" isn't going to work this time.
