Elder dragons

The elder dragons, also known as ancient dragons, are primordial creatures from before the time of the Great Giants and the arrival of the gods in Tyria. Their powers rival those of the gods themselves, however they are currently in hibernation. At least three of the ancient dragons can be seen sleeping in Eye of the North, and at the very end of the expansion storyline, the first one to awaken, Primordus, starts to stir. In addition to the three confirmed dragons seen in Eye of the North, additional dragons are mentioned in The Movement of the World, and Ice Cliff Chasms contains something which may be either a dragon or a sculpture.
