Dodge (action)

Many projectiles (from both spells and attacks) can be avoided via moving in a zig-zag pattern or rapidly strafing back and forth -- this is known as dodging. Generally, dodging projectiles from distant enemies is easier than dodging projectiles from nearby enemies. Projectiles move at different speeds. Slower projectiles are, of course, easier to dodge.

Projectiles follow line of sight rules and can be obstructed by objects in the game environment, such as walls.

If the dodged projectile was an attack (from a bow, wand, staff, or spear), the attacker will see the word "Dodge" in yellow instead of a damage number. (Occasionally a missed projectile will instead be indicated by the word "Stray").

Dodging is a player skill that can be practiced. Dragon Arena is a minigame played during festival events that can help a refine a player's ability to dodge. When the Dragon Arena isn't open, an alternative version of dodgeball can be played anytime in skirmish.
