Indeed, I found this very interesting and amazing. Coran Ironclaw 19:10, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

I know its unbelievable, there just so many places there -- absolutely nothing to complain about, i mean it has everything, every outpost in the game -- atleast of what ive seen! GREAT JOB!!!!!!! User C4K3 Signature.jpgC4K3 07:34, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
so nice to see a full world picture, it's a lot like I'd imagined it, nice job Auslander! ~ Sanna 14:18, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Copyright[edit]

Hum... just wondering.. Who owns the copyright on this image? It says "Fan Art" - has the author released this under GDFL? -- User indochine lambda.pngIndochine talk 16:50, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes, i'm the author, and it's released under GFDL. Auslander 22:55, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
OK, thanks. -- User indochine lambda.pngIndochine talk 16:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

hmm... i want to use this as a working base for another game's map. to be precise, i want to make it a map for imperaonline, a game very similar to Risk (in fact, only the fighting mechanics are a bit different). is that legal considering the map is from GW and might therefore belong to arenanet? and does GFDL allow me to do it with this image? if not, would you allow me to, auslander? :) - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 20:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd avoid making any works from other Guild Wars inspired derivative works just in case. It's not too difficult to make your own map though just in Illustrator (for outlines, symbols and names) and Photoshop (for gradients, layers and final jpg's). Plus making your own design means you positively own all the copyrights. As far as I'm concerned, this map can be chopped up, cropped, overlayed, typed-over, show up in videos or whatever anyone wants to do with it - but it should probably only be used in a Guild Wars related work and most likely something that isn't sold just to be safe. And of course, you can always do anything with it for your own use if you don't re-distribute it. And if someone is a lawyer :D ... Auslander 02:39, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

The Clashing Seas[edit]

Does it have Joe Strummer's Locker? 99.246.21.170 02:29, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

River[edit]

Have i read correctly or is the river in south Cantha, north of Amatzs Basin called Rijeka? It means river in Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian, so is it a reference or is it just a coincidence

Hero battles[edit]

Fixed :) Auslander 13:50, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Battle Isle[edit]

As far as i know, the Battle Isle was below the ship at Lion Arch before the update, so its not located correctly Mr-HaXx

Wasn't that the Guild Hall isle? -- Arduin talk 13:52, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

New Additions & Speculation[edit]

If its not on the map, but you think it should be, then post it here. ^_^ --Falconeye 03:52, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

The Secret River passage has be added as well as Lion's Arch Keep and the other War in Kryta items. I don't want to add unimplemented content (Xunlai Market), non-specific or non-exact items, or ships, since maps don't usually show you ship's locations. But addition suggestions are always welcome, and there's a thread over here http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=494297 for suggestions on the map. Thanks! Auslander 01:22, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Mind telling me what fonts you used?[edit]

^ They look pretty nice, now I want to use them. Previously Unsigned 04:00, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

I'll go from smallest to biggest on the map: Place names (ie Ascalon City) are Baskerville Old Face, Area/Map names (ie Pockmark Flats) are in Nyala, Named geography (ie Qinkaishi Mountains) and Region names (ie Tarnished Coast) are Charlemagne Standard, Continent names (ie Elona, Cantha) are in BaskerSans4, and the scripty title 'Tyria' is in Vladimir Script. Auslander 01:40, 12 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks so much! Saw this on recent so remembered I asked this. Previously Unsigned 01:46, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

The desert-desolation portals[edit]

In-game, you can see the one from the other, the arid sea statue can be seen from the desolation. Maybe put em nearer to each other? Just a thought ;) Harrier C. Goodman talk 18:22, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

There was a big discussion about that on the article page: Talk:Tyria_(world)#Incorrect_Map. But in summary, the geography of Elona and Tyria overlap incorrectly and the coastlines do not match up if you do put the maps as close as it's implied they should be. So the map's positioning is a good hypothesis to solving a problem that doesn't have an easy solution . 206.223.163.66 17:55, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Large Version[edit]

The large version of this file is now on the wiki here: File:Tyria_world_map_final_woBG_Large.jpg thanks to the new 15MB file size limit. In Firefox you may have to 'Save Link As..' since it has trouble rendering an image of that resolution (8797x16378). Auslander 18:02, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

A few suggestions[edit]

First of all, the Vizunah Square Local/Foreign outposts are mixed up. The one to the north is the Foreign Quarter. Secondly, since you've listed the names of many minor locations in the game perhaps you should put in the name of the island Shing Jea Arena is on? I think it was called Tinnairukan Island.

Also, is there a reason for the east coast shown on Cantha? Is it actually mentioned in-game, or was it invented for the convenience of the map? – NuclearDuckie 03:48, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

The east coast of Cantha was created to keep the map from having any 'blank spots' on it. I've added the name to that little island below Shing Jea and fixed the quarters though Auslander 02:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

New Version[edit]

Due to permission issues, i've uploaded the new version of this map here File:World_of_tyria_-_6.1_woBG_Medium.jpg which has a more correct shoreline between Tyria and Elona based on Guild Wars 2 information. Thanks! Auslander 02:47, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
