Candidate statement[edit]

As many contributors have said before me, I'm not much of a self-promoter but I'll do my best!

I've seen these things fail in the past due to things like "not enough contributions in the Guild Wars Wiki Talk namespace", but as people pointed out on Eloc's RFA, it's not the quantity that matters but the quality. I've only been active on this particular wiki for about two months, but before that I've been reasonably active on GuildWiki for about a year so lack of experience on a wiki should not be a concern, and I feel I've grasped the spirit of our policies and people's general view on things in my time here. My work here mostly involves the work happening in the background such as templates, and design (usually colliding with poke's....). I can also usually be found trying to help users with various tasks, marking stuff for deletion/cleanup and tagging images with the various image-tags. Occasionally I also write something original. ;)

As I said, I'm not much of a self-promoter, so if there's something missing from this section that you have an eagerness to find out, please do ask! :)

Addition: Defiant_Elements added some excellent questions to this talk page, which I replied to there.

Support[edit]

  1. Support. In a very short time this user has become a positive force on this wiki, working towards the betterment of the wiki as a whole, thus I feel they have earned my trust and support in this. -- Salome User salome sig.png 01:07, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Support I can't really see why he should not be a admin, he has shown an exelence in helping people (including me), I have seen some of his posts and I think that he is ready for adminship. In fact noticing how good his posts and such were, I mistaked him as an admin lol. I hope that this RfA is a sucsess because I think that Galil is ready for this and that he will make an awsome admin. Good Luck Galil! :o) --Shadowphoenix User-Shadowphoenix Shadow Phoenix Signet.jpg 01:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Support: In the past weeks, I've grown very familiar with Galil. I feel he possesses the traits of an admin, and would make an appropriate, informed decision in any situation that arises. He is also very knowledgeable in wiki code, and giving him the ability to edit certain protected pages would make things faster for him, and easier for us in the long run. He is always willing to help, and always gives a clear, concise answer. Prime sysop material. Calor Talk 03:06, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Support Sure, activity isn't enough to become an sysop, but Galil has also other qualities. He seems to know a lot about coding which is a big advantage. He was always helpful to other users Finally, i couldn't mind that he was ever unkind to other users, nor having made any bad contributions to the wiki. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 13:43, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  5. Support I've known Galil for a while and I know he's got great skills in wiki coding. I've also never, EVER seen him upset in the years I've known him, he's great to shout for when a conflict needs to be solved and he is always objective. - talk helena 17:21, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  6. Support I love his user pages, both on GuildWiki and on GWW... what? I can't use these as reasons? :P Personally, I think Galil knows a lot about how the wiki works behind the scenes and I've seen him on the maintenance tasks so I think the admin tools will be in good hands. I also find Galil to be reasonable and calm in discussions. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:17, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
  7. Support Hey, helped out on various bits of code by talking to others, I think Galil could be a good addition to the list! --People of Antioch talk User People of Antioch sig.png 06:25, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
  8. Not a carebear. We need more sysops like that. -Auron 03:26, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
  9. Support. Reasons above. - anja talk 12:47, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
  10. Support Helena sums it up nicely. I like people that are competent and can do things and have this great gift to deal so nicely with conflicts, a very good quality for an admin. --Longasc 11:17, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
  11. Support. It took some mulling over but I believe Galil will do a good job --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 12:29, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Oppose[edit]

  1. Oppose. If you should be admin, so should I. Nothing personal. Activity isn't everything.- VanguardUser-VanguardAvatar.PNG 00:52, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Galil is a nice guy, but he has made several statements that indicates that he doesn't really 'get' what being a sysop entails, which I chalk up to inexperience. If Galil would spend a month or so hanging out at the admin noticeboard, taking part in sysop activities, I'd be happy to support. Backsword 09:09, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. because he never clicks my rickrolls :P - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 17:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Oppose Agreed pretty much with Backsword. — Eloc 16:10, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Neutral[edit]

  1. I don't know anything about this user. But I like the responses given to DE's questions on the talk page. —Tanaric 05:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
  2. Neutral. While I think, Galil is a very experienced user and he would probably make a good admin, I think he needs some more time here on GWW to get into with everything. Especially in policy discussions I would like to see more from him before he gets promoted to a sysop. poke | talk 17:43, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
  3. Neutral. Haven't read anything that would make Galil contribute better as a sysop than as a regular user. I'm a regular user who has been a sysop and this level of interaction with the wiki is fine too. But I do get the feeling he knows his way around wiki stuff and that could be helpful, I guess. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 01:04, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
  4. Neutral. After thinking this over for a while; maybe a bit too long; I have to agree with Poke on this. --Kakarot Talk 02:09, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
