If only it was everlasting....Crimmastermind 10:02, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
An optional piece yes, but this raises an eyebrow with me. Next thing we need is a summonable Xunlai Chest. 000.00.00.00 03:48, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Patrolling[edit]

The merchant has quite a large patrolling range, I was in CoF today and noticed it a lot with him. Anyone else noticing he likes to fonder more than other summons? 000.00.00.00 05:15, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

Yea, I noticed that too. He's all over the place. Slightly annoying since I lost track of him during a vq twice. I hope this paves the way for a Storage summoning stone. It would be really helpful since nothing is worst than accidentally merching good stuff after a long vq. :x Saph 66.253.138.98 20:07, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Does he attack? --Burning Freebies 16:25, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
a storage summoning stone......wouldn't it be similar to The Luggage in Terry Pratchett's Discworld books. Bound to be good seeing a storage chest eating someone.
I wholly agree with the idea of a counterpart summoning stone for a storage chest, and having it move and attack would be a awesome bonus as well. Viva la Luggage! [:þ 69.221.248.24 18:50, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
I just check the summon data page, and he does attack when he is attacked. --Burning Freebies 15:31, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Think these should be able to be crafted?[edit]

Topic. Would make it easier for players to turn a profit. Taka Ragranok 04:47, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't think these sell for very much, so if you happened to get them from a Gift you're not really losing any money. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 04:56, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
These should be crafted as they are very useful, say from the reputation collectors for some materials and a skill point. 75.157.47.232 18:30, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
I don't think it's needed. They're very cheap and anyway, most of the summoning stones that can be crafted are overpriced imo. Markus Clouser User Markus Clouser signature img.jpg 21:10, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
compared to alomst every other drop you lose money and the overpriced thingy isbnt an arghument because these could be not overpriced for once <__< 127.0.0.1 21:13, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Strange[edit]

Ive noticed that when i summon the merchant from the stone he does folow far behind(i know) But he also doesent go on icey lakes or in Magma,Posible glitch or me being sceptical?--Neil2250 15:16, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

"The problem here is basically that the years-old merchant code isn't easily combined with the follow-the-group-properly code that the other summoned allies have, so he needs some extra code love to be perfect. Thanks for reminding me about this though, I hadn't realized it was such a hassle."Joe Kimmes

Guide for looking at bundle icons[edit]

A Flag in the sale window.

I was playing around with bundles and this Summoning Stone and i figured out that it's possible to look at the icon of bundles with this Stone's summon in areas where you normally wouldn't find an NPC that lets you sell your stuff. Looking at bundle icons works this way:

  1. drop the bundle in front of the merchant.
  2. talk to the merchant and click the Sell tab.
  3. tick the icon that views the weapons wielded.
  4. pick up the bundle.

Now you should be able to see the bundle for sale. (Although selling it won't work of course since the value will normally be 0 Gold.) Many bundles won't have an icon, in which case you will see the "Under Construction man". But some bundles also have unique icons which wouldn't even be visible otherwise, like from Unstable Gelatinous Material or Bag of Leaves.
I found out something funny with the Flag in the Isle of the Nameless: It also had the "Under Construction man" as icon, yet this time with a green helmet. (I'm pretty sure if you would pick up a blue flag when you're the blue team the helmet would be blue instead.) The strangest thing was the fact that the flag had a value of 5 Gold, so it was possible to click the Sell-button. But by the time one tries to do this, the game will crash and you will be logged out without being able to reconnect to the area, and the flag won't be sold either. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 10:40, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

It seems to reset your inventory also, which was intriguing for me (5 cupcakes + stone reset), i tested a few ways to try and duplicate an item, none of them worked. All of this testing was purely experimental of course, i would NEVER dupe a stack of ectos. . . Sonic Sunday User Da Sonic Sig2.png 01:09, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Changes[edit]

There are a few things that should be changed with the merchant summoning stone. For instance, no one I know summons them to aid them in combat; they use them so they can sell all the junk they pick up due to the lack of inventory space. Tonight during a Frostmaw run, I summoned one, no enemies around, and tried to sell stuff to him. Next thing I know, I try to buy an ID kit from him and he's dead, because the party moved on and attacked a group, causing him to attack. He lasted maybe 10 seconds. He wasn't meant to fight, so merchants that are summoned should just follow you around and not fight or aggro. I was stuck with a 60-minute summoning sickness. That's another thing; merchant summoning stones SHOULD NOT give you summoning sickness; they aren't meant to fight, so why should they prevent us from using other summons? They also shouldn't count as a summon that's already out for the same reasons mentioned above; you should be able to have a merchant out as well as a fighting summon. Frequency of drops getting assigned to the merchant?[edit]

How often do drops actually get assigned to a summoned creature? I don't think I've ever seen it (on the other hand, maybe I don't play enough hours to notice). And under what circumstances does it happen? Thanks!  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 08:12, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

May happen to the Merchant guy, but the other summon stones, I never noticed any assigned drops to those.MystiLefemEle 09:53, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
That image was taken in DoA after we finished Stygian Veil, I'd say a year ago. Markus Clouser User Markus Clouser signature img.jpg 22:01, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
So, it's about as common as drops being assigned to a mini? That's rare indeed.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:17, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Drops can be assigned to almost anything... its just very rare... I don't think its necessary to post it on the merchant summoning stone article. 71.239.152.236 16:33, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
