GW2 Suggestions

Hey Satanael. Are you still interested in cleaning up GW2 Suggestions? A new ArenaNet: namespace has been created for the wiki and they're (eventually) going to move the suggestions over to there where we hope the community can get in there and organise and keep things clean. There is a bit of a discussion going on (not many interested parties at the moment) at ArenaNet_talk:Portal about the layout of the pages. I've put together a few example pages, but after reviewing your suggestions I think there are some good ideas there which we could integrate. Anyways - I hope to see you adding your 2c soon it'd be good to have a few people to bounce ideas off. --Aspectacle 11:22, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Why did you create all those subpages in the ANet namespace? There is still a discussion on it at ArenaNet talk:Portal and creating all those subpages will make it impossible to move it from the existing pages. poke | talk 09:11, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2 Suggestions

Greetings!

I'm writing a canned message of sorts to a select handful of Guild Wars Wiki users whom I believe share a similar passion of mine: exchanging new concepts and ideas for Guild Wars. I chose you by simply jotting down names that showed up frequently in the discussion of the GW2 Suggestion Pages here on the Wiki. If you have no interest in the matter or feel that I'm imposing upon you, I will thank you for your time; please disregard/delete this message. If, however, you do have a creative streak and enjoy sharing your ideas with the hopes that they'll some day be adopted into the game you love, then read on!

I like to think that, on occasion, I have have a good idea. And when it's concerning something I'm very passionate about (like Guild Wars) I tend to go all-out. When Guild Wars 2 was announced back in March of 2007, I was very excited! Here was an opportunity to get some of the features I've really been wanting to see in an MMO integrated into one of my favorite games! The question was, how could I get the developers to actually pay attention to any of my ideas? In my naivety, I began posting them on “Guild Wars 2 Suggestion” topics on several forums of popular GW community sites, only to realize that, as more and more suggestions were posted, my posts became buried. I never got the feedback I desired (were any of my ideas even good?), and I could only assume that ArenaNet would have a slim chance of coming across them in all the drivel and flaming that accompanies forum topics.

Disheartened, but not defeated, I decided that I (and many other creative minds) needed a place where they could post their ideas without them being buried... where other players could easily vote on them, and post suggestions of their own! Thus, I created a site called NikiWiki. Unfortunately, either due to my requests for fansitedom going through the wrong channels, or a lack of understanding on ArenaNet's part, NikiWiki never really took off. At around that time ArenaNet set up a “receptacle” for posting Guild Wars 2 suggestions here on the Guild Wars Wiki. But I saw this as only a tiny step up from posting in forums. How does anyone know what new ideas really matter to the players?

So I've decided to take another stab.

I'll spare you any further ramblings, and introduce you to the Guild Wars Feedback Community. All I'm asking is that you take a few moments of your time and visit the site. Create an account if you wish – everything is free, there is no spam, etc... there aren't even any advertisements on the site. I do all this simply out of my love of the game, and a selfish desire to see Guild Wars 2 become the ultimate MMO!

The GWFC is not perfect by far, please understand that it's currently in beta. I hope that with some input from like minded individuals, this site can become a valuable resource for the developers at ArenaNet and folks like you and I who need a creative outlet. Feel free to criticize (constructively or not), make suggestions of your own, or brow-beat me in any way you feel necessary. I've set up a topic for GWFC site feedback you can use, but feel free to write to me on my Wiki discussion page, or holler at me in-game. Thank you for all of your time, and I hope to see you on the Feedback Community site!

Sincerely,

--Brokunn 03:23, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

GW2 suggestions pages move

Hello Satanael. I saw your questions on the GW2 move discussion page. I actually moved my suggestions now contraversary to my initial decision not doing so. One of the resons was to find out by myself what is really going to happen. What I found out that if after move former URL is accessed the request is being redirected to new page URL in my user space.

You seem to be one of the people who initially thought of the suggestions idea and put out quite a lot by yourself. Since you have had questions about the move you probably never done one before like myself until recently. It is easy:

1. After login, access the page you want to move and click 'move' tab. 2. In input box replace "ArenaNet:" with "User:Satanael/" 3. Leave 'Move associated talk page' and 'Watch this page' boxes checked 4. Click 'Move Page' button and you are done.

As per all my comments: while it was probably silly to bring up a copyright issue to the discussion (and I am not a lawyer), I still stand by my case that merging and especially deleting suggestions was never an approprite way of managing them. Unfortunatelly, my request to undelete all deleted pages have been denied. You actually started out properly in your own space and 'community' firstly moved the focus to ArenaNet space, and now they are simply dropping the ball.

Drop me a note if you wish. HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 17:15, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Happy Birthday! Wanted to make you a birthday present and nominate you for bureucrat, but was late. How can I make up for that mishap of mine? HH LEADER User HH LEADER Peace symbol svg.png talk 13:49, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks all, I appreciate it! And @Leader, thanks for the thought, though I don't really know what the requirements/expectations of a bureaucrat are, so I'd be hesitant to accept the nomination at this point. For now let's just stick with the good work we're doing. I'm pretty excited about some of the stuff ANet has been doing lately, to me it reaffirms their interest in engaging the community and fanbase. I was talking to a friend who has been playing WoW since the beggining, and he was shocked that we actually get to talk to any of the devs, let alone one of the founders of the company... Buzzing the Tower!

Saw your comment in regards to the Miniature Kuunavang it is indeed a WTF moment when I first heard mine. Thanks for the hallmark moment of memory of the scene as the tower was buzzed. MystiLefemEle 10:45, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Feedback task force

Ok, here's the deal. I have spoken to Emily and it's not possible to create a new usergroup for this at this time, so you are going to be granted temporary sysop status for the sole purpose of working on the feedback namespace. I've asked for this based on my personal belief you will not abuse the tools you will have access to. Please don't let me down :D -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 18:33, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Ah, perhaps too much RC spam? *blush* (Satanael 19:05, 2 July 2009 (UTC))
It's just that you can avoid unnecessary edits (for example adding brackets for linking) by that :P
On a sidenote, why are you always putting your signature in ()? poke | talk 19:07, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Y'know, that's a really good question, it was only recently that I noticed that no one else does it, and now I have no idea where I got the habit. Maybe back in my early wikipedia days someone told me to use (~~~~)... (Satanael 19:10, 2 July 2009 (UTC))
Hehe :D It's just that I generally only see the opening one, and it always looks weird to me, so I wanted to ask :D poke | talk 20:00, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
LOL, I think I just figured out why I have always used the parantheses around my signature: At the bottom of the page when you edit it says "On talk/discussion pages, please sign your comment by typing four tildes (~~~~)."... I guess I took it a little too literally when I first read it... (Satanael 14:47, 7 July 2009 (UTC))

Lol, you're figuring out why he's a "favorite" around here. --JonTheMon 03:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
