Guild Wars Wiki:Admin noticeboard/Archive 4
The latest update's discussion page
This is more a question than a way to point fingers, but...At the update discussion, there are some heated statements made toward Arena Net (and especially Isaiah) that are often found, say, in the GW forums (and those pages are in more ways than one becoming almost "mini forums" anyway), but here they're crossing past NPA. Things like "Those bitches don't know how to skillbalance", "Izzy is worthless at skill balance" and so on are offensive, but then again they're just expressing their frustration with the update, and I would guess many of those anonym users don't plan to contribute any further, at least not right now. Does anyone think it's worth following these with the usual procedures here (tagging each IP, and then having a sysop considering a warning, a block or whatever), or would it be better to just let it go?
(I got scared when I noticed the page became empty when I clicked on "edit". My first thought was, "zomg, what did I break now?!" : D) Erasculio 11:25, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- I skimmed through the page, but couldn't find anything exceptional. (Nothing I would really call a personal attack, more just general whining). If you do find something, please point it out, I may certainly have missed it.
I don't think any page on wiki should be treated differently just because it gets alot of edits or are on a sensitive topic, so warn/point out if you find comments violating NPA. A heated debate is not justifying personal attacks :) - anja 12:55, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

- Purely an observation here, but a bout of open-proxy vandalism followed the last time J.Kougar was banned. Obviously there is no proof, but I thought I would point out the coincidence. --Lemming 23:59, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Purely coincidental I assure you. J. takes credit for what he does, even that one time he did vandalize Gaile Gray's page, he took credit for that and I know he would take credit for any other such things if he were to do them, but I honestly don't believe that he would ever do that again. He has just invested too much time into this Wiki now to want to throw it away, he's just stubborn is all. ;) Now I just have to hope that he isn't watching the recent changes page like I was or I'll be hearing about sticking my nose into things again. Perhaps a little CR might help
- → moved from User talk:Gaile Gray
Gaile, thought you might want to head over to this page, and perhaps spread a little community relations. Everyone wants to blame poor Izzy, and up till this point, I have never seen the F-bomb dropped so many times. I'm shocked the GW community can't act in a respectable manner.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Talk:Aggressive_Refrain Med Luvin 15:49, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Read the section and you might notice there's a reason everyone is blaming Izzy. Sure maybe it's not his fault, but fact remains the job is not getting done. Who's idea was to only have one skill balancer in the first place? We have an art team, a quest team, so why not Skill balance team. Antiarchangel 17:43, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- It might be his fault be that does not give people the right to throw around the language and insults they are doing on the public official wiki. I was very annoyed by this nerf but did not react like some have. However I think this is something that the wiki admins, not Gaile, should be dealing with and warning or banning where appropriate. Actions like this do not endear us, the GW community, to the very people we are trying to communicate with, i.e. Izzy, Gaile and their collegues, and probably does more harm than good. Wiki policy violations are a wiki admin task, not something that Gaile is responsible. Moved to admin noticeboard so that an admin can view the discussion and do what's deemed necessary. -- (gem / talk) 19:48, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- The whole thing reminds me of the builds talk pages on Guild Wiki, the whole section needs to be purged, and not used anymore. Izzy probably doesn't even look at it anymore as it is just a giant flame fest. Though that probably isn't a viable solution. To be honest I stay clear of that area generally unless someone brings something specific to my attention. --Lemming 22:56, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Simply move it OUT of Talk space and into the Mainspace, therefore main policies apply and not talk policiees. Which means that they could be kept a lot cleaner and flame free...a LOT easier! --ChronicinabilitY 04:34, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- First of all, the rules for talk pages are the same as the rules for user talk pages, with some slight changes to archiving permissions. If you're suggesting to move it into the main article space, that utterly defeats the point of talk pages in the first place: discussion can't be documented, that's why it's not in the main article space.
- Secondly, Izzy does look at it (just take a look at the history) - perhaps not as much as people want, or comprehensively each section, but he does read it. (Aiiane - talk - contribs) 04:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
