Currently, this template does not seem to be working. -- Gordon Ecker 05:22, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

It's a MediaWiki bug. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10466 poke | talk 11:14, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Image

I had tried to update a image on our guild page I have tried using few different templates. But when ever try anything and get a image to be show still get the 150px and cant seem to get rid of it. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild:The_League_Of_Death_Warriors

Fixed, just upload now ;) poke | talk 18:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Border problem

When viewing User:Diagoro Leonine's profile, I got a border problem in which the entire GWW tool bar (including the GWW shield image) shifted into the text of the page. I'm trying to make sure if this is just me or not, before I upload a problem image. --TalkPeople of Antioch 20:48, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

That is not a wiki problem, that is a coding problem on that site. poke | talk 21:04, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
fixed. poke | talk 21:05, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Failing Sender ID

Emails sent using email user from this wiki get tagged my Hotmail as phising (no sender ID). As spam by yahoo, and AoL blocks them. So...where is it breaking? Dominator Matrix 05:11, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Just click allow sender on Windows Live. — Eloc 20:34, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Still on the other end what stops them from at that point just piling into the junk folder? 68.151.27.108 22:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
In windows hotmail it gives you a red bar. Says its been blocked for saftey, and says to delete it. Allowing still shows the warning. And it shows up in the junk folder. IDK but is this always happen or just happens to the email to yourself option? Dominator Matrix 00:26, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
This bug only happens to emails getting sent to yourself which is werid Dominator Matrix 03:03, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
When it's in the junk folder, click on it once and click on the button that should say "Not junk" and that should allow it to now appear in your inbox. — Eloc 18:12, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes Eloc, but I don't think people @ arenanet have the same function. But it did get there. I have notifed hotmail staff (there fixing it). So this is solved/fixed Dominator Matrix 21:20, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

404 Not Found

Not Found

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

I keep getting an error page titled 404 Not Found when going to different pages on the wiki, it seems to be random - sometimes it will work fine other times it won't. Any idea what is causing it? --Kakarot Talk 18:31, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Quick downtime

Heya guys! There are a couple of wiki problems going down right now that we're looking into. This is affecting the front page images, and a few other things. We may need to pull the site down for just a second to get things back in order. The downtime will be very brief, but I wanted to give ya a heads up. Sorry about the inconvenience :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 19:50, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Would the error be the images showing up as there filenames and not there icons? (EG like on the main page...) Dominator Matrix 20:41, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
I would guess so. Seems to be only .pngs affected, .jpgs and .gifs are ok (as far as I've seen). --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 20:42, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Its not affecting my images...at least on my character pages. So some vandal did something....Dominator Matrix 20:44, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Whenever I click on the files for those images affected it says this:Warning: This file may contain malicious code, by executing it your system may be compromised.
I saw that when I flagged a image for being corrupted...oh boy. Dominator Matrix 20:46, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

hehehe ooops, my bad( it was probably my falt this is so off topic )--The Forsaken One 20:56, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

(reset indent) Yup, it's got something to do with .pngs right now. I know that the team is looking at it as we speak, so I'll keep you all updated :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:58, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

I hear a security patch wasn't patched echoing somewhere. Oh and some jpgs are affected, but not recent ones. Dominator Matrix 21:01, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Emily, I don't know if it will help, but when I refreshed the image page after first seeing that corrupted warning, it didn't give me the warning, but the image was just a white box and said its size was 0x0. Couldn't reproduce that, though (every other time I refreshed it gave the warning). ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 21:04, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Same here, must be that warning....*scanning* Dominator Matrix 21:08, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm in contact with the folks fixing the issue, so I'll pass this stuff along to them. From what they've told me, they know what's going on, and are working to resolve it. Again, I am super sorry for the downtime/broken time. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 21:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok now I don't see the logos for A.Net or the background. Still fixing? Nevermind! Dominator Matrix 18:15, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Seems to be fixed on GWW.. but it's now happening on GW2W (it was fine before). --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 18:25, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, Brains. I'll pass it along right away. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:35, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

How does it look for you now, Brains? --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:40, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Page history

Brains' comments aren't showing up in page history here, but going through the diffs you can see them. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 01:41, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Alright, I figured this out. The server time keeps changing by four hours back and forth. If I edit now at 10:01 EST, but the server goes back four hours before someone else edits the same page at 10:03 EST, their edit looks like it happened at 6:03 EST, and that's where it shows on the history. I think. It's confusing, though, because the server time seems to only change for some things (the diffs still show all edits in the right order) and all sorts of stuff like that. But this problem is caused by the weird randomly-changing-by-four-hours thing. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 02:03, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Also, I noticed this when WanderingTraveler responded to something on his talk and it showed up halfway down my watchlist ;) ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 02:04, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
The same seems to be happening on GW2 wiki (they are on the same server after all :). Take a look at the RC the evidence is obvious there - a page is edited before it is listed as newly created. I was making changes to pages and not seeing the change on the resulting page after the update. It was a little confusing. --Aspectacle 04:00, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
IDK why its happening, but it needs to stop. A vandal could get away with things this way....Dominator Matrix 07:00, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi guys...I just asked about this and found out that it was fixed early this morning. If you still notice it happening, please let me know right away so I can pass it along. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:13, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm fine on speed over here, but I"m still getting that bloody internal server error. its just on that page though, so I'll leave it alone for a bit and see what happens. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 22:06, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I really do think that it's likely due to the insane page size. Can we archive the ideas so the page stays smaller? --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:08, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
It happened again BUT! as soon as I refeshed the page it fixed its self, so I think its the server just taking a while to create the cache. So its no problem at all...really. Dominator Matrix 02:14, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

image preview problems.

Having a weird issue with an image, uploaded new helmet pictures for Gallery_of_male_warrior_Elite_Luxon_armor about 8 days ago. Three of them updated fine, but the image of the front of the helmet i had to change to 149px just to get it to display right. However i've tried reverting the image since then to 150px to conform to the same size as the others and everytime i do it reverts the preview back to the previous orangey picture. I asked Brains to check if it did it on his computer too and it does. Don't know whats causing it. also on topof that recently i keep getting grey error boxes which say something like this: "Error creating thumbnail: /home/httpd/gwwiki/home/gwwiki/en/bin/ulimit4.sh: line 4: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory", this has never happened to me before on this computer but it seems to be happing all the time now. -- Salome User salome sig.png 23:43, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

I have the same problems with the latter; it used to happen rarely, however it's been happening more often recently. It fixes itself after a while, but it's still annoying. --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 23:45, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Their is also something weird happening with this page: Gallery_of_female_elementalist_Ancient_armor. If you click on the front and back pictures it sill shows you a VERY old version of the image instead of an enlarged version of the actual image. -- Salome User salome sig.png 23:50, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I think its the server being to busy or confused on what to update...Dominator Matrix 23:51, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Heya guys....this was an ImageMagick problem, and it should now be resolved. Let me know if you notice any other issues. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:09, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

The Skill list page won't load

I cant access /List_of_Necromancer_skills and /List_of_monk_skills since 10 am. It just give me a blank page with both Firefox and IE.Is there anyone working on that section or something ? LONGA 08:45, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

It seems to affect most pages which use large list generated by Template:Skill table. It's probably a DPL problem. -- Gordon Ecker 09:16, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi guys! I just got word that this issue has been resolved. We had to do some emergency maintenance which impacted both this site and the GW2W. I'll work to get advanced warnings about this kind of maintenance in the future. Bug

When tagging this guild [1] for clean up (in need of a major text and category clean up) the submit actions fails with "url not found" several times. Dominator Matrix 05:03, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Hiya Dominator! This was caused by the reason I list below :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:04, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Monobook.js

I have a feeling this is related to the security stuff, so I'll make it a subsection. I can't seem to save my monobook.js -- I get the error "The specified URL cannot be found" (as you mentioned above). I've never had these problems before, so I guess it rules out problems with the code itself as I've had it a fair while. My monobook.css can be saved fine, it's just the .js. Kakarot gets the same problem too. If you need to see my code, it's at User:Brains12/monobook.js. --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 01:41, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

You guys may want to check with Poke on that. One of the things that got passed along to me was that Poke was using some javascript that the wiki rejected, but he made some changes to his code to work around it so it's compliant. I'm guessing that since you guys seem to have his js copied directly into yours (rather than calling from his page), you may have an older version? Try replacing yours with his current version, force a refresh, and see if that helps. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 01:44, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Nope, Poke's codes are entered from his own source pages -- the code at the end after GWWT and AutomaticPatrol is Galil's, but it can be edited fine without problems (I've been changing some stuff around for a little while now without problems). The only code there that would need updating is Poke's, and that updates straight from his own source. --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 01:48, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, the problem seems to be with Galil's code, the deletion reason entries, and not Poke's. I don't know why though, because they worked fine on the delete page (I used them many times today). It seems there's something wrong with editing them; which I haven't experienced until now. --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 02:00, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
I found a similar problem when I wanted to post the bookmarklet command, to start the contribution counter. It seems as if the current MediaWiki version - or the current server settings - do not allow javascript: anywhere on the page; or it seems as if it is treated as a url and then checked but php is not able to check that (as it doesn't understand javascript). A simple but annoying workaround is putting <nowiki></nowiki> between javas and cript. But it does not work if the "script" is written out completely. poke | talk 12:31, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
I just did a preview test adding the pre-defined deletion reasons using Poke's workaround and it doesn't give that error message; luckily there was only one instance of javascript. Would the pre-defined deletion reasons work with no issues having those nowiki tags Poke, because it's at least a temporary solution for the time being. --Kakarot Talk 13:44, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
But note that a nowiki-Tag is not ignored by javascript and need to be put in comments - or in that case it should work with an inline /**/ or a simple 'javas' + 'cript:void(0);'. poke | talk 13:46, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Page not loading

When trying to access List of elite skills it just loads blank, only headers seem to be coming through. Wiki not setup?

When viewing this diff I got a MediaWiki Message saying something along the lines of "Please set up a wiki first", unfortunately I closed it before I thought to screenshot it and it hasn't so far happened again. Kind of an odd bug to happen and since this is the first time I've ever seen this happen it could be an isolated incident although it did seem to log me out as well. --Kakarot Talk 19:21, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Change of e-mail

I hope this is the right place to put this. I changed ISP accounts recently and had to change e-mail addresses. I had my e-mail settings here notify me when certain changes on the wiki were made. I signed in to change my e-mail handle to start getting those e-mails, but it seems that Special:Confirmemail isn't working for me. I have clicked the link about 4 times over the past 3-4 days and have yet to receive an e-mail from the wiki about confirming my e-mail so I can get those notices. I keep getting the same message.

A confirmation code has already been e-mailed to you; if you recently created your account,
you may wish to wait a few minutes for it to arrive before trying to request a new code.
This wiki requires that you validate your e-mail address before using e-mail features.
Activate the button below to send a confirmation mail to your address. The mail will include
a link containing a code; load the link in your browser to confirm that your e-mail address
is valid.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated. I hope this wiki doesn't do like some sites (Guild Wars account transfering included) and send an e-mail to both addresses to confirm the 'change' because I no longer have access to my OLD e-mail address to do so. — Rappy 17:29, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Make sure you check your junk folders -- emails I get from the wiki go there. I just tested now, you should only get an email to the new address. --Pling! \ Brains12 \ Talk 17:39, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
I have no 'junk' folders. I use Outlook Express© and everything is routed into separate folders through 'Message Rules'. Trouble is, I haven't received an e-mail from the wiki in the entire week I have had this new address. The e-mail that was supposidly sent to me has never arrived. — Rappy 17:49, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
Hm, strange! Thanks for pointing this out, Rappy. I'll pass this along. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 21:56, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi again, Rappy. I've received word that the initial attempts were being bounced by your ISP for some reason, but we've seen a few go out successfully, so the issue seems to be resolved. Let me know if you have this problem again, and I'll ask IT to check the logs to find out what's going on. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:20, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, whatever you said to whomever fixed the problem. I never got the confirmation e-mail, but it seems whoever handled the situation manually changed my e-mail setting because I am now receiving e-mails based on changes on the wiki. Thanks again for the help. — Rappy 01:12, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
I don't believe we went in and changed anything on your account :) The reason you didn't get the email was because it was rejected by your ISP, so it was likely some issue on their end that was resolved. You might want to keep an eye out for lost mail just in case they are having other issues that could be causing other correspondence to bounce. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 01:18, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. — Rappy 17:17, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Watchlist sorting

This isn't a bug, per se, but more of a design flaw. When watchlisting certain pages, such as Guild Wars Wiki:Arbitration committee/2008-05-06-User:Mgrinshpon‎, it is sorted under the namespace "Guild Wars Wiki:Arbitration committee/2008-05-06-User" instead of Guild Wars Wiki. This is obviously because there is another colon that falsely denotes a namespace. I don't know what ArenaNet can do about this, as it is more a problem with MediaWiki than this wiki, or even if it is worth taking any action, but I figured I would put it out there. Calor Talk 02:05, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

It's not MediaWiki, the default watchlist sorting works fine. It's probably some script in your monobook.js not behaving properly. --Dirigible 02:17, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I never thought of that. Calor Talk 02:59, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
It's not GWWT tools causing this as I don't get this problem, that leaves ATs wikiswap and that other bit of code that I have no idea what it is or does. --Kakarot Talk 03:03, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Since a couple of hours ago i am loading only white pages 9 out of 10 times. Also, sometimes when trying to save i get "Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a loss of session data. Please try again. If it still doesn't work, try logging out and logging back in.".
Tried logging out and in, clearing the cache/cookies, changing PC, etc, and from talk page comments, it looks like i am not the only one. Are you guys working on something without telling us? :).--Fighterdoken 22:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm not really sure what's going on right now, so I've put in a ticket for it. I'm guessing it has a lot to do with large spikes of traffic from the dev update, but I'm not positive. I'll let you guys know what I find out. Sorry for the inconvenience :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 22:25, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
I am having the same problems Emily, and it seems as if the site was down for about two hours here --Shadowphoenix Please, talk to me; I'm so lonley ;-; 00:29, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
The site's been flaky and practically useless for me all afternoon. At least since I got home at 1400 eastern, 1900 UTC. What's up, Anet? Calor Talk 00:33, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
If needed emily shut down the site at this point, its really hard to navigate. This needs high priority. Backup or update gone wrong? Its high traffic issue, as pinging wiki.guildwars.com or guildwars.com gets me a 1020 or 920 ping O.O Note: This is effecting guildwars.com also. Plus earlier it was not responding (would get a DNS or high traffic error) 68.151.27.108 00:36, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
There's no way this is because of increased site traffic. I could understand a bit of slowness, but the practical death of the wiki? Doubtful. Calor Talk 00:40, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
I've got it happening, too. I can load pages if I keep hitting 'Refresh', but it takes four or five times to work. Kokuou 00:41, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Maybe the job size is broken/to large or something along there? 68.151.27.108 00:51, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi again guys. I agree that there seems to be something unrelated to traffic spikes going on here. Due to the severity of the problem, I've put in an advanced escalation to our after hours teams. I'll be out and about tonight, but I'll keep an eye on my email and the site from my phone and keep you guys informed of anything I find. Again, I'm really sorry for the craziness today. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 00:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank god it's not just me. Thought my comp was acting up again. -- Salome User salome sig.png 01:18, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) seems to have been fixed now. Thank goodness.... --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 01:58, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

A few pages are still very slow. Do you know what the problem was, Emily? Calor Talk 02:00, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Pictures loaded recently (maybe even up to 24hrs) aren't able to be accessed and error it out for me. -- Inspired to ____ 02:15, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Hiya guys! I got an email late last night notifying me that they were able to identify and resolve the problem, so if anything else starts happening, please let me know. I'm sorry for the performance hiccup yesterday. We should be back to normal now, though :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:13, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Corrupted or incorrect extension? NOT

I tried to upload File:User Horsedrowner mail.jpg, and I selected an non-corrupt valid jpg file (created with paint :P). Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? << horsedrowner | talk | guild >> 15:23, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

It could be a bitmap mislabelled as a jpeg. -- Gordon Ecker 22:01, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Yea, paint saves as .bmp's by default. In the "Save As" screen, make sure to click the drop down menu labeled "Save as type" and select .jpg. Otherwise, if you just type in the filename whatever.jpg, it'll save it as whatever.jpg.bmp XD ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 02:17, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Microsoft at its finest... Calor Talk 02:36, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Paint is a program developed for bitmaps, jpeg support came later; so it is totally normal that bmp is the default file format. poke | talk 09:49, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm sure I appended the right extension. What I didn't know though, was that I actually had to SELECT the right format from the dropdown list... Thanks anyway :) << horsedrowner | talk | guild >> 10:47, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
