Guild Wars Wiki talk:Elections/2007-12 bureaucrat election/Eloc Jcg
I'm amused, but this didn't really surprise me. You should note that the bureaucrat position is not a leader position. You don't control people or anything, that's a false assumption left over from GuildWiki where bureaucrats are leaders. On this wiki they are people who solve social problems between users. Tbh I don't think you're a social problem solver. ;) -- (gem / talk) 02:38, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, you'd be suprised how many social problems I have to solve in a guild of 100 members. Also, there's no harm in trying to run for bureaucrat, right? :D — ク Eloc 貢 02:41, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well Gem I hope you don't think that being a leader involves "controlling" people either. Bureaucrats ARE expected to lead by example, if a user can't do this I don't think they should be made a bureaucrat. I think Eloc's mention of his position as a Guild Leader was more to point out he carries a position or great responsibility every day to give a context for how successful he is at that. Tbh Gem I don't think you're a good judge of character - or much else over Internet communication. I think Eloc acts with good intention in most of his edits and the current "ruling community" sets up all his bids to fail with comments like your one above. Anon
- Eloc for president any day --Cursed Angel 05:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Anon, I'm not claiming to be the perfect human being, and I'm not running for the bureaucrat position since I'm very aware that I wouldn't be a good fit. You make this sound like it was some sort of a secret operation to fail Eloc or something that has a large group of wiki users behind it. I can assure you that it's not. And no one is saying that Eloc doesn't have good intentions. I very much agree with you that his intentions for this wiki are good and he wants the best for the wiki. Still, that doesn't change my opinnion on him being a bureaucrat. -- (gem / talk) 10:07, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- Your opinion of him being a bureaucrat seems to be based off of a false misconception that they are not leaders, and that a leader controls people. I can think of at least one recent example where a current bureaucrat showed very poor judgement in a social problem. Like you, bureaucrats are not perfect, nor do they need to be. SystemisFlawed
- Do you mind also telling us what example that would be? --Xeeron 14:45, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

- Found it. See LordBiros comment here. -- (gem / talk) 23:08, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- You can consider that an ill-judged post if you like, but I do not. I'm not saying it was the most diplomatic thing that I've posted, but I'm not going to waste my time reasoning with someone when they have spent absolutely no time learning about the thing they are complaining about.
- On another note, good luck Eloc. LordBiro 06:56, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am not critisizing you Biro for that comment or I would have done so at the point of that discussion. And I hope you didn't aim that at me but SystemIsflawed. I was just pointing people to the one and only place where I've seen anything that someone could hold as non-diplomatic. -- (gem / talk) 09:59, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Maturity and Dealing with Conflict[edit]
Do you think you possess the maturity required of a bureacrat? If so, how do you demonstrated that? Have you been involved in any conflicts with users? If so, can you demonstrate or explain how you handled the situation? Would you describe yourself as a diplomatic user? 122.104.231.28 16:36, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- I doubt it. --- Ressmonkey (talk) 02:33, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- He's had some conflicts before when trying to welcome someone but he was just trying to be nice. Vanguard12:59, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

- What, vote? That's all I've done is vote and post the odd build. Also, a bureaucrat position isn't based on how much you can rate builds. — ク Eloc 貢 21:11, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Voting without good explanation. If you look through people's voting history (which u cant), I bet you will have the most percentage of removed ratings, if you dont include people with no contribs. --- Ressmonkey (talk) 21:56, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

- See now ur just messing it up. The purpose was to annoy him with useless information that has nothing to do with teh matter at hand while I get more contributions and I get Eloc mad enough to do something immature, but asking that question just messes everything up, so now we'll never know if hes really immature at heart. - As do I. There's a difference between maturity / leadership qualities and the quantity of one's edits. When Eloc gains some hummility perhaps he'll be a good candidate. --BlueNovember 01:06, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

- Let me explain (because this has to do with a research project I'm doing). You know how the skill Signet of Humility prevents you from using your elite skill? And how the skill Price of Pride makes you pay a price for using your elite skill? Can you thus know the meaning of humility knowing that these two skill names are what they are for a reason?—♥Jedi♥Rogue♥ 01:27, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- humility is when u throw hard things at a guy and then 10 of your friends begins to throw things at him too and everyone else laughs--Cursed Angel 01:32, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

- Back to the original topic, I think that recent "rant" on Ryudo tipped me toward oppose. Maybe another day Eloc, when you've proven conflict resolution abilities that is satisfactory or above par in the eyes of the rest of the wiki. Calor — talk 01:51, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Honestly, I understand Eloc getting fed up with someone who not only got pissed off at a friendly welcome, but persisted for a long time in harrasing him for the template...everyone is overreacting to this...too bad the timing of this event was so terrible for ElocKiller Revan 01:59, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Respect for policy?[edit]
Users who care little for policy or others are not suitable for administrative positions, imo. My experience with Eloc(mainly dealing with his policy violations and rudeness on PvX) indicates to me that he does not have the requisite respect for policy and other users. --Edru viransu 02:12, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thats kinda what I was trying to say, but failed at doing :). --- Ressmonkey (talk) 02:17, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- Eloc has more idiots trying to bait him and giving him a hard time than any other user on this wiki. I don't think most of the users here would stand half a chance at doing as well at dealing with all the shit eloc has to put up with. Ryudo even came back here with the sole intent of taking him down, and all the people who said they respect him for coming back isntead of running away, take a look at his talk page edits, he was clearly getting involved in potential conflict situations trying to bait people, that's what he is, a griefer. 122.104.227.205 04:31, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- I for one am not trying to bait him. I am simply expressing my experience with Eloc and why I think it means he would not make a good bcrat. --Edru viransu 04:33, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
