A miss is an attack that fails to hit its target because of direct interference. After each miss, the game displays a yellow "miss" message beside the target; in addition, projectiles from missed ranged attacks will fly off to the side of the target.
- Blind creatures have a 90% chance to miss with all attacks.
- Some skills affect the target's chance to miss.
- The chance to miss stacks multiplicatively (rather than additively). For example, two 50% miss chances equal a 75% chance to miss.
- Blocking, failing, straying, being obstructed, and dodging are not the same as missing, although players sometimes use the term "miss" to simply mean "did not hit".
- One can miss projectile attacks even if the effect (e.g. Blind) is applied after the attack but before the projectile reaches its target. For example, attacking before getting blinded does not guarantee a hit.
