Talk:Dwayna Vs Grenth

I disagree with the deletion. It was one of the top "wanted" pages. Since there is not much to say about this topic the artice IS indeed short but is just supposed to be a short information that links to the wintersday pages. Nothing wrong with that i think. -- Nachdenki 09:44, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

i came to this from a link from the winters day page, would be nice if it explained about the snowball fight but it doesnt even mention it. i find that very odd. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arnlof (talk • contribs) at 09:07, 3 November 2007 (UTC).

Sides[edit]

Why does one side get an area cripple skill while the other one gets a backfiring disease glyph that needs to be used together with snowball (so if you use it you can't use hidden rock along). And no one ever bothered thinking about that or checking what happens in such circumstances. And no one ever complained to Gaile, since this started on Wintersday 2005. Agreed, evenily matched sides => Dwayna always wins cause Avalanche is superior. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.164.16.108 (talk • contribs) at 17:56, 20 July 2008 (UTC).

Note the condition removal... that alone evens it out68.78.128.49 19:07, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree with 68. Dwayna's side may have a cripple, but it's on a 30 second recharge, whereas Grenth's side has condition removal with a 4 second recharge. Grenth is a little harder to play, but it's balanced. --Mme. Donelle 00:04, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. — Eloc 01:38, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah but the other side can always drop another avalanche on you as soon as you remove it which takes 2 seconds... and during this time it allows your opponents to catch up to you and steal your present. Grenth's special skill does not at all contribute to the goal of the game. Dwayna > Grenth is a fact.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:210.193.228.117 (talk) at 03:20, 28 July 2008 (UTC).
But, but... the 2 second cast is perfect when your opponents can spam knockdowns! Then there's daze covering cripple and Blinding Snow being one of the best profession skills... and I almost forgot about Snow Down the Shirt. --24.179.144.91 03:36, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Especially the part where it's a glyph. Epic win there. Count Coolio 02:00, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

skillbar now at yuletide[edit]

keeping the skillbar here instead of moving it to yuletide makes more sense to me. if i'm looking for how to play snowball, i'd expect to see what skills i was going to employ. it's not very obvious to me that i'd need to browse to the yuletide page to find a skillbar. even if just for consistency's sake u should keep it here, b/c this is now the only minigame article w/ skillbar effects in which those skills don't show up on the main article. dragon arena, costume brawl, rollerbeetle, dwarven brawl, polymock, and norn fighting tournament all follow this format. --VVong|BA 21:06, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Anamoly[edit]

Is it really an anamoly... every mini game like this has those same effects, and its not like you equipment is reset. Tearh 03:16, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Interrupt vs Aftercast[edit]

I notice that the dervish tips section has been changed from "be aware of the interrupt caused when you change from a form into a human" to "be aware of the aftercast caused when etc". I'm assuming this is more accurate, but I don't really understand why: it doesn't occour after the form has been cast, but after it runs out! It also has the effect of interrupting any action you are performing at the time, including movement, which is something the reader would want to be aware of. --Mme. Donelle 17:05, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Eh, screw it, I reworded the whole thing to include both. --Mme. Donelle 18:17, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

skillbar[edit]

I changed the "Blank" to "Optional" some time back, but it has since been reverted [1]. What was the exact reason for this? As there is in fact a skill on the 5th place of the skill bar, I think Blank is not the right term to use here, and while neither is Optional it's better than Blank (we use it for skill 6 too). I'm reverting to Optional unless someone comes by and explains why Blank is better soon. :) WhyUser talk:Why 03:53, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

How about "God dependent" for #5 and "Profession dependent" for #6? Manifold 04:10, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
manifold, if u want to make that change, it'd be great. but i think "optional" is worse than blank. there is no option here. it's set according to chance and the user has no input at all. --VVong|BA 07:31, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I see it isn't so simple as changing the text. It links to whatever is written, and uses an image of the same name. What about making pages named "God dependent" and "Profession dependent" and having them redirect here, and also uploading images of the question mark with those names? Or would it be easier to "fake" a skill bar? Manifold 19:00, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I lied, I can't be bothered removing all the ifs. If people don't like it, revert my last two edits (the code IS horrible) or pretty up the code. Misery 19:07, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Please note[edit]

This game is about getting the presents back to the specific goal posts. NOT about killing the other teams. Nubs. Briar 08:56, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Well technically it could be possible, if both teams gave the presents in at the exact same time. Unlikely, but possible. — User Balistic Pve Sig.png Balistic 06:08, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I've reverted myself. Happy editing! --Silver Edge 06:10, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
It must have happened before for someone to know that. -- My Talk Lacky 06:36, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
The "In case of a tie, both teams lose" note was added to the article in a 9 November 2007 edit by Wongba, but it might have originated from an IP edit to the Dwayna Vs Grenth Wikia article on 28 October 2007, unless that IP was Wongba. --Silver Edge 07:05, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
yeah, i think i got that from wikia, and after asking around, i don't think that's possible. removed. --VVong|BA 07:27, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Tournament Glitch?[edit]

Has anyone else had the following problem (2009 Tournament): you will be in the tournament (not the reg pvp match), and your leader of the party will hit join when it places you with your rival (in whatever round), then sometime during the count down timer, the box will flash red, with the join button popping back up (as if you had never joined) and the "join" text flashing back and forth from gray to white? This has happened several times for me and my party, and we don't know why. Sometimes the glitch fixes itself and rejoins us before the timer runs out, but it has cost us two tournaments in which is glitched out, and then says we were removed due to us forfeiting. Just curious if anyone else has run into this problem?76.22.94.20 11:35, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

"All life and armor is also standardized through the environment effect Yuletide"[edit]

This article states "All life and armor is also standardized through the environment effect Yuletide" but the Yuletide page specifies that it does not affect armor. So which is it? --Combatter 20:19, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

Tbh, I don't think it matters since all snowball skills "deal" damage, they are unaffected by armor. Karate User Karate Jesus KJ for sig.png Jesus 20:25, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
^ Grentches attacking when they can't use Snowballs tbh. Though it's a very minor thing and I think they might use candy cane weps anyhow. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 20:27, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
Ah yes.. good point Mr Karate Jesus sir. PS: cool name --Combatter 03:29, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Enchanting Mod[edit]

I just noticed that enchanting mods seem to work in PvE on Ice Fort...do they also work in PvP? And if so, do the condition reduction mods work as well? Mistress of Trade 08:39, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

Tournament points[edit]

I did the GvG snowball thing and got no tourney points, but my guildies did. Why would that be? --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 16:14, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Did you miss the first match? that locks in the team of who gets points. 24.186.229.141 01:19, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I was wondering how that worked and nobody answered on the game questions paged. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 05:30, 25 December 2011 (UTC)
