Reverts[edit]
Please stop adding information like "[The temple is an] area for idiots to congregate, to engage in juvenile discussions reminiscent of a late 90s chat room". I don't think this writing style belongs to an official wiki. And I'm getting bored of reverting every 12 hours. Thanks. --BigBlue talk 20:58, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Problems getting there[edit]
I dont know if this is just me but i cant travel there. I have all three campaigns and this is a PvE char who has been to all three campaigns and i dunno why i cant get in. 83.104.133.95 16:27, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Have you tried creating a pvp char? it might unlock the outpost or something. Sadie2k 04:55, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Some of my pve chars have this, and some don't. Anybody know why that might be? 66.189.179.115 09:09, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

- I'm having problems too, it's only with my Prophacies character, I'm going to try get through some of the Nightfall campaign to unlock the profession changer and see what happens then - Byakko 03:18, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- You should have gotten access to The Great Temple of Balthazar as soon as you entered Lion's Arch. If you still can't reach the outpost you should contact support.
- As a side note, you need to ascend in your campaign of origin before you will be able to use a profession changer. As long as you've ascended in Prophecies, the changer in Nightfall should work for you. -Kim Chase 18:44, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, I might contact support after all, I'm at the last mission in proph, and 1/2 way through NF, still cant get in. Q_Q - Byakko 07:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

(Reset indent) you should let us travel there at lvl 1. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.182.143.194 (talk) at 19:07, 30 April 2013 (UTC).
Discussions in normal chat, psychologically disturbing.[edit]
Am I the only one who thinks that 80% of the time some pedofiles or pubers keep talking about sex, homosexuality and offensive things? Ninjas In The Sky 12:10, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- I was talking about what the people in there are talking about. If you don't get me, go there in AD1 or AD2 and turn on normal chat. Ninjas In The Sky 12:11, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- The Great Temple of Balthazar is a major social hub since it can be accessed by characters of all campaigns. It seems like people that are looking to verbally assault others are drawn to such crowds. If you see someone talking inappropriately please use the /report command to notify our GMs of the issue. -Kim Chase 18:35, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Fix[edit]

I have found a bug here.[edit]
Zaishen Mission; Combat; Bounty flags...if you click right, you can start an auto-run. I've been doing this bug almost all day. And even now, Great Temple D1. Howeveeeeer, someone might be trying to fix this, or it gets caught. Just thought it might be an interesting little note. Enjoy.--iRathur 01:44, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- This still works... and if you do the auto-spin at the same time (hold left or right then esc) it looks quite hilarious. 71.243.55.76 19:55, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
(Reset indent) seeing as this isn't game-braking i don't think it will be fixed but if you feel the need please post the bug on the support forums- Zesbeer 21:55, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Strange entrance?[edit]
There seems to be a entrance zone behind the Statue of Balthazar.. Any1 knows why? :S

Actually, That gate leads to the Zaishen Challenge, not the deleted Marketplace. If you don't belive me, go to Zai Challenge and go through the gate to the far east. It dumps you out where this guy is talking about. Adamus Marden 01:44, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Oddity getting here[edit]
Way back, when I was a newb in GW (say, middle of 2010...), I had NF characters who could warp to the guild hall, and from there maptravel everywhere in the Battle Isles except the GToB. In addition, they could not ship-travel to the GToB. However, mapping from the guild hall to the Zaishen Challenge outpost then allowed me to walk to the GToB, after which I could map there freely. Weird, huh? Cynique 10:30, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Battle Isles outposts were and still are unlocked by account with the exception of GToB, which is unlocked by character. Not an oddity, it just wasn't unlocked because you didn't get the boat for map-traveling yet. -- Konig/talk 13:58, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, OK, but new NF characters can ship-travel as soon as they get to Kamadan. It might have been a Factions character created after my first NF character, of course. I'm currently pummelling my brain to see if it remembers this stuff, but I have a feeling that my first character to get to the GToB was the NF character who sold a black dye to pay for a guild hall, but she had already been up to the EotN by that time. Ah, yes, that was it. She went to EotN and stole a black dye from one of Fronis Irontoe's crew, then sold it and paid for a celestial sigil with the proceeds. Then she went to the GToB by some means. The dude who first couldn't make it to the GToB was a Factions warrior who hadn't at that point made it off Shing Jea Island. The second one came from NF, but went to the guild hall and from there to the GToB via the ZC outpost before trying the ship, because I thought that was how you had to do it. Hope that makes sense. Ah, and that's how a character who hasn't yet reached Lion's Arch or Kaineng Centre can get to the GToB... Join a guild with a hall and map from the hall to the Zaishen Challenge outpost, then walk... Cynique 14:57, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- "new NF characters can ship-travel as soon as they get to Kamadan" Nope. They need to do the second mission (at least) and do a few primary quests first, in order to unlock the boat and the quests to go to the other continents. -- Konig/talk 15:11, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Well, sort of. If you have unlocked a ship-travel destination, you can ship-travel. The Kaineng and Lion's Arch quests are unlocked just before you do Consulate Docks (the fourth mission - Chahbek Village, Jokanur Diggings, Blacktide Den are the others), but you can unlock GToB before that, and without doing a quest, by mapping from your Guild Hall to the Zaishen Challenge and then walking to the temple, and then you can ship-travel between Kamadan and GToB.

- Or maybe it was just that I had created a PvP-only character (thus unlocking the Battle Isles locations but apparently not the GToB) before trying this from my NFers.
Should we say something about Stabby?[edit]
Since he's usually there at American English District 1 and almost everybody knows him, shouldn't he have his own subsection in the GToB article? 38.100.109.4 14:24, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'd suggest you make a Players section below the NPCs section. Where you could add a little funny biography and a picture of their characters!

- We don't document players. On rare occasions we document people that have won official tournaments but that's not the case here, as far as I know. Make an account and set up a fanclub page in your userspace, that's perfectly allowed.
Also CA wasn't being serious, there's no such thing as a headquarters here. — Why 04:21, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Getting there on a new PvE character[edit]
The directions for getting there on a new PvE character are not working for me. I unlocked the Zaishen Challenge outpost, created a new Factions character, and entered my Guild Hall, but the Zaishen Challenge outpost was not available on my map. Either this method doesn't work or there is a step missing. Breck 22:04, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oops. Fixed that. You have to have visited a port city, even if you haven't used that city for ship travel. It's the same reason that says you can't map travel to an outpost you haven't visited. In particular, if you could use the method as it was written (without visiting a port city), your character could never leave the Battle Isles, because he would not have any unlocked ship travel destinations... (Exception: if you had visited at least one mission outpost (Chahbek Village, Minister Cho's Estate, the Great Northern Wall etc.), you could map from the GToB to Embark Beach and be sent to your mission outpost from there. The map-travel unlocker doesn't do that level of intricate analysis.) Anyway, it's fixed now. My first experience of this phenomenon was a Nightfaller who had, as you might expect, already reached Kamadan, so didn't have the issue of not being able to leave. Cynique 07:35, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
- In that case, there's really no need to have the "new PVE characters" qualifier. "By crossing through the portal from the outpost for the Zaishen Challenge." should be sufficient. Breck 11:16, 22 January 2012 (UTC)
