Why does Hai Len walk so slow????[edit]

Why does Hai Len walk so slow???? I flagged my heroes at the monster spawnpoint, went AFK, got a drink, came back, and he still wasn't done. To actually be in game and watch him walk is excruciating. After walking he has a nice half-an-hour chat with some girl he loves but wouldn't hurry up to get to. Cougar 16:09, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Feel free to kill some Nian while you are waiting. --Arduinna talk 16:31, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Even when I went to do that quest, I'd come back and he'd still be getting up to the plants. For someone that can't wait to hop into bed with Jei, he really is taking his time b.r // talk 16:36, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
Easiest way is to do all 3 together. Flag your heros by the house, take out the 5 Nians. Then kill the plants. Run to the bull, attack him, kill him. Flag your heros by Jei. Then run to the shore for Hapless quest. You have just enough time to make it back to Hai before he's done talking. — Rappy 23:31, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Broke[edit]

I love how she steals his coin purse, but he still has 300 gold to hand over to you for the quest reward. Good thinking ANet. — Rappy 22:24, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Lol i didn't even notice! |NalanaUser Nalana Darkling santa.jpgDarkling| 17:26, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Aftermath[edit]

Where will she run to actually? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.88.86.253 (talk) at 08:47, 13 February 2010 (UTC).

She runs into Tsumei Village. Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 18:45, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Trivia?[edit]

'Hopeless Romantic' is such a common and old term, I doubt that it's really referencing to a song by a band from the late 80's. -- ᴥ GreyGhost (talk!) ᴥ 23:16, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps we could attempt to recieve confirmation on whether it's related or not? PariahUser Pariah Pariahmoa.pngtalk 23:52, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
I agree with GreyGhost. The burden of proof should be on those who wish to prove (as best as possible) the supposed Trivia, not on disproving it. Until the veracity of the Trivia connection is agreed upon by consensus or obviousness, the trivia note needs to go away. Because there's is neither an obvious connection nor a consensus at this time, I'm going to remove the note. If someone has a solid argument for proving a connection (which will be difficult to do with such a widely used term), then let them argue their case below. -Ninjatek 23:58, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately I'd have to disagree. The trivia was removed and reverted before, due to the fact that an anet quest writer originally added it. See [1] FC 08:42, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
Here is the direct edit by john stumme. [2]. This evidence is good enough for me to say that it is indeed kosher to add it back to the page. --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg 14:11, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

Dialogue stops[edit]

At "Oh, how a chorus..." if Hai Len is grayed out the dialogue pauses until you get close enough again. Not sure if it's worth mentioning or not or if anyone has noticed. 24.118.99.65 21:12, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Need to wait?[edit]

Not sure you need to wait around for him to arrive at the bull pen. I believe if you remain in the instance, he should proceed on to his malicious loved one.

With several alts, I've headed to the bull after killing the plants, then to the shore (for the end of Just My Luck). I usually got back right before his purse gets stolen (w/o speed boosts). 66.170.212.17 03:15, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Oddly Amusing[edit]

In running one of my chars through these little quests along with a couple other chars on sister accounts, I ran into an oddly amusing quirk regarding Hai Len. If one (or more) of the chars in the party has The Big Bang quest active, but ignores it in favor of Hopeless Romantic--getting Hai Len moving and doing his quest instead--once you've killed off the Kappa pop-ups and run down to the bull, Hai Len, taking the high road beside the Elementalist training platform, will encounter the initial Nian that was never scared off. Rather than walk around him when given the chance (as the Nian wanders about) he acts as if he's trying to attack it but can't as he has no weapons/skills to do so. This, of course, kills his quest since he'll never make it to the bull pen. I believe this qualifies Hai Len to join the official Idiot NPC club as member number...umm...I've lost count by now.... Having said that, I do appreciate the extra entertainment value these guys unwittingly provide. Kruhljak (talk) 07:45, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
