Needs move to Imperial faction according to other faction pages. 88.153.105.75 22:13, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Fixed that, my bad. ~Farlo Talk 22:34, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

"Alliance PvP formats"? the s on the end of formats would indicate a plural. Isnt AB the only Alliance PvP format?

I think JQ and FA also are Alliance PvP -Luinarmlant 00:24, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Hmm my cap increased by 1k after going from R11 to R12 luxon : )--116.51.172.9 02:31, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

But I don't want to help the evil empire, I want to destroy it, Shiro had the right idea. Ramei Arashi 03:15, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

is there gonna be an imperial title track? VidelKastroo 07:49, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Why would there be? It's simply a way to earn other types of faction. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 11:12, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
how is this really another type of faction? this one goes for PVP battles, I thought we had that already with balthazar faction? In the end it is just pushing players more into JQ and FA and more and more ignore the other ways to earn your faction points. even more since the reward for those two was additionally upped if you read further below in the update. I for once do not like to be pushed! you? [[79.206.225.146 00:43, 4 June 2011 (UTC)]]
You are not forced to do JQ/FA/AB. Besides, to me, the Balthazar Faction is buffed up. Win in JQ and I earn 4k Imperial = 1,333 Balth. Batchie 02:45, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Seems to me that this allows you to fight for any side and gain which ever faction you want when it comes time to trade the points in. Then, for those that already have BOTH maxed luxon/kurz points they simply convert their winnings into balthazar faction for unlocks or keys. I would rather do RA or one of the other pvp areas for the boxes you now get, though i'm pretty sucky at those... 72.201.155.226 17:42, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

schouldn't this also be on a update page of somethingThearcherofchaos 20:24, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

It is, it's on the main Game updates page, which is at the top of the main page. ~Farlo Talk 21:02, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Shing Jea/Kaineng vanquishes[edit]

It would be nice if we could get Imperial Faction for vanquishing the urban areas of Cantha and the island areas. Seems like that serves the Empire more than fighting each other over amber and jade. But I do like this update. It's a great idea.SidekickSam 06:16, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

I definitely agree. I'd love to have an incentive to vanq these areas again, Shing Jea was fun. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 07:33, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

Winds of Change[edit]

It's far sought yes, but who knows this may be the introduction.(though I don't think it is) --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 09:25, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, that's probably true. Since this is supposed to be faction with the Empire, I'm sure the quests will reward this faction, especially if you do tasks for them directly. ~Farlo Talk 09:33, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Ooo, I hope so! --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 06:42, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
It would make sense seeing that also the envoy theme appearing in pvp doesn't have any actual lorewise explanation.--Mark, User talk:Markisbeest het Beest 14:29, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Just to update this discussion for those who might see it later: WoC, at the time of this post, does not offer any faction. ♥ Tyloric ♣ 18:27, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Exchanging Faction[edit]

Is it worth noting that if you tell the npc to take all your imperial faction and convert it, he'll literally take it all even if it means half of it is wasted due to that bar already being full? Learnt it the hard way :( 82.1.243.71 23:24, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

If you mean he took all your Imperial faction and maxed out the Kurzick/Luxon cap without a refund, then yes, definitely, that sucks. I'll make a bug not of it right now. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 23:48, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Also learnt the hard way. THANKS ANET! 121.209.194.83 06:33, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes anet should get a medal for being that dumb. we have a brain for a reason. Good job 82.35.29.76 16:14, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Please explain[edit]

The distinction between this and Balthazar faction.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 05:18, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Uh, a factor of three? -- Armond WarbladeUser Armond sig image.png 07:59, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
They just seem to be used for the same thing. Feels redundant.-- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 20:14, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Imperial, unlike Balthazar, can be traded in for Kurzick or Luxon faction. It is meant as a means to make PvP'ers able to go to either side of AB, FA, or JQ, rather than being forced to play on "your" side ("your" referring to "the side of the faction you want"). It's actually least like Balthazar faction - it's only purpose is to be exchanged for another kind of faction, whereas Balthazar faction is designed to be turned in for unlocking things or just simply rewards. Konig/talk 20:16, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Makes sense, though it feels they could just replace Balthazar faction altogether. I dunno. It's been a while for me :P -- User Vanguard VanguardLogo.pnganguard 20:31, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Balthazar faction is the same as it has always been: faction earned by accomplishing goals in PvP (like winning or killing player toons).
  • Imperial Faction is a new name for faction earned by accomplishing Kurzick or Luxon goals while in PvP, i.e. it's another name for Generic Kurzick/Luxon faction that can also be traded for Balthazar faction at a deep discount, but even ANet knew that would be bad terminology. It's earned exactly as K/L faction was earned in K/L contests (FA/JQ/AB), at (mostly) the same rate. What's new is that, as Konig notes, it allows K-aligned players to fight for the Luxons and vice-versa, something that is required considering the declining interest in those forms of combat on most days.
So, it's not B-faction that should be replaced, it's K- and L- faction that could be. There's no particular reason why PvP earns Imperial Faction but completing Harvest Temple earns K- and L- faction simultaneously. There's only a lore-based reason why completing tasks in E-forest or J-sea still earn K- or L-faction respectively; for game-play, it would be better if Imperial faction was rewarded and players wouldn't have to worry about "wasting" one or the other because they forgot to donate in between killing Kanaxai for ZB and completing M's Hope ZVQ.– Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:26, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
"There's no particular reason why PvP earns Imperial Faction but completing Harvest Temple earns K- and L- faction simultaneously." Yes there is. It's to keep Balthazar faction a PvP-only reward. Konig/talk 19:04, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
It's not a "PvP-only" reward. Zcoins can be traded in for B.Faction as well as PvP rewards. Zcoins can be earned quiet easily by doing the 3 PvE daily quests. 65.122.15.169 13:26, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
