Snowmen and Grentchs[edit]

There is a battle with about 5 snowmen and 5 grentchs that randomly spawns. The spawn location for this Is near the entrance to bjora marches, right north of all the spectral creatures. If they don't spawn then there is a group of mandragors. I should note I saw this group 3 times during the preview weekend, so not sure if they are still around. 68.104.205.160 11:07, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Just saw them theres only 4 on each side now. ~ Zero rogue x 05:22, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Still here as of this date. Robdalf 07:57, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Only 3 on each side now, but still here! :) Naliin 14:45, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
Is it possible this only happens when you have "A Good Deed" active, or is it always a random spawn? 83.84.122.158 18:30, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
I didn't have that quest active and they still spawned.

Snowballs cause minis to die here[edit]

I've taken all my pets out one by one, and all have died when hit by the snowball near the entrance to Frostmaw's Burrows. I've got a screen of my charr shaman being merced and I'll try and nab one of the others. Andrik Of Ascalon 08:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Who are they?[edit]

While adventuring across the Jaga Moraine, I encountered a band of 5 Norn.

As I approched, they began to discuss between them, the merits of thier land, and making a song with words that rhyme with arrows. I attempted to talk to them once they completed, but none of them would talk to me.

The text of the conversation:

BRAN: There's Barely any bears for us to hunt.
BROSA: Barely any Bears? Ha. Bran, you are a mountian of mirth and wit!
SKEGGI: His words are sharp as arrows!
NAFNI: Ha ha! Let us write a new song, then!
BROSA: I'll start. Brenton, Brenton, his words as sharp as arrows.... He, ah, what rhymes with arrows?
DAGFINN: Sparrows?
BRAN: We are far to mighty to hunt sparrows!
SHEGGI: What about BArrows? He sends bears to thier barrows?
DAGFINN: How about, "his blade rends bone and marrow."
HAFIN: Naw, I've got it. His wordssh {sic} as ssharp {sic] as arrows, he's really...really great. *hic*
BROSA: That doesn't rhyme at all! Are you drunk?
NAFNI: No. No. No... Yes!
SKEGGI: Good Idea, Narfi! Drinking will help our creativity!
BRAN: Well, another round for us all!
BRAN: Ah, the frozen white Shiverpeaks! The bears here are finer than anywheres.
SKEGGI: We live in a hunters paradice! Let us drink to our homeland, and its heroes!
DAGFINN: Say fellows, you know what we need?
BROSA: What's that?
DRAGFINN: We need a Skald! Someone who will follow us and write tales of our epic deeds!
NAFNI: Our deeds are indeed epic. Epic... deeds...indeed! *hic* Ha ha!
SKEGGI: Only the greatest Skald would suffice. No common tavern rube is fit to sing of Bran's exploits!
BROSA: Where would you find such a man?
BRAN: Heroes don't find skalds. Skalds find heroes...and follow them of thier own accord.
NAFNI: Then we must have another hunt, the *hic* greatest hunt we've ever undertaken!
BRAN, Hmm. What shal we slay, fellows?
SKEGGI: A possum!
NAFNI: Yes. A possum! Wait *hic* That doesn't sound very epic.
SKEGGI: It could be. A possum bit me once.
DAGFINN: Really? Where?
SKEGGI: Right on my... Oh, in the forest. It really hurt. Couldn't sit for a week.
DAGFINN: Oh, Well. HAve another round to smooth the pain...of old memories!
BROSA: Aye, thats more like it. A few more of these and I'm sure adventure will follow!
NAFNI: And women, too!
BRAN: Here's to our land, where the bears are big, and the women are bigger!
NAFNI: And just as bad tempered... All the more reason to drink I say.

This was a long conversation to listen to to find I didn't get a quest from it. I took screen shots of them, incase I never see them again. LeFick 00:04, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

There's a quest (don't remember the name) given by another guy in the area - he wants them cleared out for disrespecting the hunt.--Fourth Horseman 00:06, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
A Hunter's Pride - Tanetris 00:18, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
I hadn't done the quest yet, and I tried to search for the names of the different hunters, and there was no wiki page for any of them. I was hoping it was something new..... LeFick 00:29, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

Named after "moraine"? It IS a moraine, it's not named after one. That's like saying that the Shiverpeak Mountains are named after "mountains". I've removed that trivia note. 70.92.241.213 20:19, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Technically, they are named after mountains, because these are only bits and bytes in a computer program. :P 42 - talk 07:35, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Edit[edit]

I modded the boss section around a little. Before, Krak Flamewhip wasn't mentioned. Yes, his quest was mentioned slightly in noted, but not in the boss section. So, to fix this, I added him to the list, and made sure to not that it's only during Krak's Calvery. -Rano Ager 20:11, July 7, 2008 (UTC)

The location formating guideline notes that "NPCs are only listed if they are considered "permanent". ...quest-specific NPCs are not listed (they are listed in the relevant quest page...)"
So it can be reasonable to miss out Krak Flamewhip cos he is a quest only NPC, but I'm not gonna fuss too much :) --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 18:26, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Any NPCs should be listed in the Location they are in. If you want to note that it is a quest only spawn, then do so. The NPC in question still appears in that location, and should be listed, in that location. 42 - talk 07:04, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Am I seeing things?[edit]

I hope I am seeing things, but I decided to look closely (and afar) from the North-South mountain range in the south central part of the region. There were some spikes in the mountains that didn't exactly look like they were a part of the mountains themselves, but it wasn't very obvious. From my point of view, it's a dragon -- larger than the one in Drakkar Lake, but smaller than the one between Grothmar Wardowns and Dalada Uplands. -- UglyLooking 04:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Can you add a screenie of it? Chaos Beserker 15:13, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

The ruined village[edit]

Why does the number of Vaettir hanging around down there increase exponentially in HM?Hyper Cutter 03:18, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

So it can live up to the name "Hard Mode"? Just a thought. 42 - talk 07:02, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Why is this here?[edit]

For the record, I do not agree with the following argument. But I felt it should be re-posted here so other people can see how ludicrous it actually is.

By following some people's train of thought, listing the elite skills and unique items with the bosses shouldn't be done, as this information is listed elsewhere already (the specific boss' page).

I have had the above argument (about other information) used against my idea to have that information easily accessible before. It was a ridiculous argument there, as it is here. 42 - talk 07:17, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Party Defeated[edit]

I was vanquishing this area when I got near the top and was trying to kill Whiteout. He was almost all the way dead but we wiped. Rather than resing us at the nearest shrine, it said "Your party was defeated" and made us go back to Sifalla. Someone may want to add a note, if they know what happened. I think it may have been because I got too close to Frostmaw's Burrows and the Norn started some dialog. I did not have Cold Vengeance in my quest log and was not planning on doing the dungeon. I was half way done so that's a lot of wasted time. Ugh.. FloppyJoe 00:10, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

In hard mode, your party gets transported back to the outpost if it got wiped at max death penalty. The map, dialogue, and/or vicinity of Frostmaw Burrows are irrelevant for this. 78.53.4.115 00:27, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Trivia[edit]

I think it owuld be a nice bit of trivia to add that you can see the mountain visible from jahi bluffs as seen::http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af189/sajuukkhar1000/gw005.jpg north of this map by standing where Avarr the Fallen is and :::looking west as seen http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af189/sajuukkhar1000/gw004.jpg - Higara 5:44pm June 12 2010

Kilroy Stonekin[edit]

When you talk to Kilroy he gives you the option to "crack some skulls with him". Doing this doesn't give you a quest but if you follow and protect him he seemed to have given me 30 dwarven points and a dwarven ale on normal mode. --Kilaa1000 21:51, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Not really a quest. It doesn't give you a quest, though you may say it looks like something. As such, no, no quest. SFS Talk 21:52, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Minigame tbh. Kilroy_Stonekin#Notes has it. I accidentally accepted this while vanquishing Drakkar lake once, annoyed the shit out of me. File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 00:23, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
Minigame covers my explanation XD SFS Talk 06:07, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Vanquishing - Mob Count[edit]

Just vanquished the area. There were 267 foes. 97.100.235.221 02:59, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
