Isn't this called the "Mission Map" ? --Tyroney 15:30, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

yes, but often referred to as mini map by players, redirect. -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 15:33, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
I need to re-check the manual; but if I recall correctly, it refers to the compass map as the mini map. The map window with the red dots is called the mission map. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 15:34, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
Exactly why I brought this up. Also for consideration: the equivalent of the "compass" in other games is often called the mini map, so there's all sorts of potential for confusion. --Tyroney 18:39, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
"official"
faction manual options dialogs
mini map compass
area map mission map
Edit mini map and make it a disambig page? -FireFox File:Firefoxav.png 18:42, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
I had a look at the nightfall manual -in the map section headers were "Compass" described as a "mini map" and "Mission Map" with no mention of area map. --Aspectacle 18:51, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

Icons[edit]

I've created a few icons to show what's going on, but they could do with some cleaning up. Unfortunately I'm not very good at it, so I'm sticking them here in case anyone fancies it :) AT(talk | Resurrection Shrine icon.pngLocation icon.pngPortal icon.pngCollector icon.png

Icons in Towns/Outpost...[edit]

For an extremely brief period when the Rez Shrine and Collector icons where first added, there were icons in towns/outpost that had the locations of things like the Storage. I'm not sure if anyone else remembers this since they were taken out very quickly. I thought it was a really neat thing when they were on there. If anyone from Anet could tell me... Why where they taken out? Icons like that could come in real handy in large towns. --Seth Crimsonflare 19:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

i do know that dead res shrines (even if you are next to them and they really are dead) whow up on map as the Res Shrine icon, this is kinda odd... - Chrisworld 21:59, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
He is talking about the mission map (default 'U'). When you are in an explorable area you can open up the map and there will be icons where resurrection shrines and collectors are, also for the collectors if you hover your mouse over the icon it tells you what they collect. I don't remember when they made the same thing for in town NPC's, it would be useful for the larger towns that are spread out like Lion's Arch or worse the Vasburg Armory, it took me 15 minutes to find the the Xunlai Agent when I first got there. Broodling67 03:33, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't know why we took them out, but I can ask about them for the future. --Gaile User gaile 2.png 07:37, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Awesome! Thank you, Gaile.--Seth Crimsonflare 18:22, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

How to zoom in?[edit]

My mission map keeps zooming in and out randomly, and I can't figure out how it does it. My mouse doesn't have the scroll button on it and I have tried every button combo I can think of to get it to work right. Currently so zoomed in I can see about two red dots on my path...

Missing icons[edit]

We still need the star and gate icons, as well as the dungeon key icon. -- Gordon Ecker 03:52, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Then those should be listed as part of the legend with red links for the images, so that people know what images are needed. I looked at the page and obviously had no idea what images were needed which is why I removed the tag. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 04:14, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Done. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 04:59, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
How about Quest Mark (Quest mark.png)?
And those colorful gates/stars on Rragar's Menagerie (purple gates and stars) and Sepulchre of Dragrimmar (red, green and blue stars)?
Red stairs leading to next (Stairs1.png) and previous (Stairs2.png) level (dungeon) are also missing.
Also, Resurrection Shrine seems a bit out-dated. If you look carefully, it should resemble a monk icon, and not a faded black circle. I hate my CRT. --NIN37 05:24, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
How about Hero1 User NIN37 Flag1.png, Hero2 User NIN37 Flag2.png, Hero3 User NIN37 Flag3.png and Henchmen User NIN37 Flag0.png flags as well? Might need better ones, though. --NIN37 11:16, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Also the AtC gray star (for the siege devourer) –User Balistic Pve B d-dark.jpgalistic 02:06, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
It may be worth noting that there is also an icon on the map for where Henchmen are located in towns. However, it cannot be seen while in the town and the only time I've been able to see it is when doing any of the Insignia quests and the quests involved.--Rølin 19:01, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
