Greatest. Tonic. Ever.[edit]

Some of the things you turn into are hilarious. It'd be amazing to have an infinite use version for laughs. --Goteki-45 06:03, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

In case someone wants to start a table of statistics[edit]

mursaat, rabbit, yeti, eye of janthir, bone dragon, mursaat, spider, black moa chick, crystal spider, and grentch. the best one was chasing people around fort ranik id1 as a bone dragon yelling "RRAAAAAARRRRR!!!" 24.2.13.241 07:14, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Mursaat, crystal spider, mursaat, ooze, hellhound for my first run of tonics. --Goteki-45 10:47, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Agreed! I so want an everlasting one of these. That would be the most awesome thing ever. Verene 05:12, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I got Ooze, Charr, spider, Black Moa and Crystal Guardian. --124.189.66.41 01:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I've created page for this: Mysterious Tonic/Form Research Matek 20:49, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

7 Grentch
6 Hellhound, Abyssal, Bunny, Yeti, Mursaat, Spider, Moa

Form/Disguise references[edit]

For many of the forms, we have specialized disguise pages, e.g. Norn Form. Should we link to those from the article, as applicable? (Ralmon the Gen 15:50, 24 April 2009 (UTC))

Kuunavang[edit]

Kuunavang?! Cool. ^^ -- Shew 03:03, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Awesome.[edit]

One of my friends used his, he turned into a Black Moa Chick. I used mine, turned into a Black Moa. lulz. 24.233.254.51 01:07, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

It also turns you in to a Charr. /Arky

This is the most retarded idea ever[edit]

Flooding the public with this slew of tonics have made towns turn into jokes. Where did my fantasy RPG go? Anyone who just bought nightfall, (actually who am i kidding, noone buys this game anymore, but nonetheless) will see Kamadan AD1 and think they've entered a zoo. It's just a mess of creatures. When did this game become disneyfied? --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 19:10, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm more worried about people new to the game getting dropped with spoilers, and this was with the other tonics before this... imagine comeing into old ascalon, and some joker is floating as a mursat... the new player asks whats that thing... a helpful stranger spills the beans on the storyline... welcome to your new game! MrPaladin 19:22, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
I'd say that players who name themselves ridiculously are a worse danger to a "fantasy RPG" than lighthearted tonics. With the exception of one (or two?) of them, they're restricted to outposts anyways, where they don't impact anything. You're not going to see someone who looks like Kuunavang during the end-of-level cutscene for Bloodstone Fen, but you will see that the person talking in it is named 'X Mr Dethguy X' --Goteki-45 12:39, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
thb tonics as whole are just getting annoying. it was ok when people got them during events, and they made sense, now they're fucking everywhere for no reason. when the zchest thing started for like a year ago they were at least only obtainable by a few people and 1 new per month, now anet is tossing these out like wildfire for every pve wammo to get their stupid titles and look cool in outposts... they're no longer special, just turning outposts into zoos. --Cursed Angel Q.Q 13:03, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Calm Down. If you don't like the tonics type /uninstall, theres no going back. Some people like turning into someone else for 50 minutes, it makes them feel good and different. But also these tonic isn't exactly rare so in places like Kamadan you may find a few to many. I think they should do what they did to minipets, make it only maybe 15 people who are transformed by tonics. That way when there are alot of people crammed into one place (like with dis1 America Nine rings), 100+ people aren't being stood on by a enormous Bone Dragon or a Salt-spray Dragon. Flaming hot chilli 06:53, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
No-one said they'd like to uninstall the game. It is a bad point to bring that up when players are unsatisfied with a feature of the game.
Other than that, I also think that tonics in their current form kill immersion. It has been said before: when I start up my online RPG, I expect human characters to be human characters and monsters to be monsters, and everything to be in their rightful place.
Of course, tonics can be fun too and I wouldn't mind them to be present in the game, just not everywhere I look. I'd personally limit all tonics to be only usable in guild halls, Battle Isles outposts, and festival outposts. By festival outpost, I mean Kamadan, Lion's Arch, Shing Jea Monastery, and the Eye of the North, but only in their decorated forms during a festival. --Adul 14:14, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
I disagree with you all.... I like tonics and whats wrong when every1 can have some fun? We don't stay at outpost or town for long, unless you want to trade something. Don't worry, the monsters will not scare away the traders115.64.157.4 08:28, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
I disagree with you all <- Funny comment. Other than that... I agree with Adrin's opinion that it's somewhat ruining the RPG side of the game, but then again, as Flaming hot chilli said, there's no going back. No point crying over whole subject. Mediggo 08:33, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
lolwut? This game never has had a good roleplaying contingency. No RP servers. Very little RP guilds. While the lack of it is slightly sad, acknowledging that tonics ruin the fantasy elements is bullshit when no such elements are used by the vast majority of players. Benjammn311 21:45, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
lulwut? ur post makes no sense. --adrin User adrin ecto sig.png 21:47, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
115.64.157.4 is right what is wrong with tonics? When I see the people I think...how cool! A mursaat, a dragon! And besides it's not like a persons guild isnt chances are gonna spill the beans.74.173.107.209 11:09, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
The whole RP in guild wars died off mostly after a couple months after initial release. At this point, a.net is trying to keep the "fun" in the game until gw2 comes out. By "fun" I mean grinding for (imo)marginally entertaining items and such. --8765 07:10, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure I agree with the role-playing aspect of the game being dead. Of course no-one or very few people roleplay per say, but most of the Guild Wars campaigns have a setting that at least gives the impression of a role-playing environment. Just think of Ascalon destroyed by the charr, the Istani going to war against Kournans, or the search for clues about the plague when Canthan characters arrive to Kaineng City for the first time. These are the exciting, immersive moments of the game for me, and I'm not saying that transformation tonics are to blame for breaking this immersion, but they sure don't help much with it. I know that players have different tastes and reasons for playing though.

A possible solution would be to make RP districts in towns (in all available languages) that are completely identical to normal districts except that the use of miniatures, tonics, and some other consumable items would be disabled in them. This is just an idea, and I bet I'm not the first one coming up with it. --Adul 13:25, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

The idea that tonic's should only be used in certain places like Kamadan is probably the worst idea ever. Every player and their dog with a tonic will go there. Just limit the number of tonics that can be used at a certain time. Flaming Hot Chilli 05:56, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

i agree with adrin as you can see loads people in random forms and it just becomes an eyesore like the discoballs, but i can see why they are adding so much into the game cuz they are quick and easy to add in and they keep u playing and intresseted in the gw universe untill gw 2 comes out, its like they are trying to make the game into a end of gw1 party --Azreal of SkyrimUser Azreal of skyrim signature.jpg 17:05, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

Why can't this just be a part of the Role Playing itself? Why is "fantasy" such serious business? Why is "role playing" all of a sudden serious business? Why can't we play the role of jokesters and drunks and sugar high addicts? The consumables have their part in the lore as much as anything else. Nicholas the Traveler has returned after journeying a long time and brings presents to people who do scavenger hunts for him. Those people who receive the presents then go into town and act the fool. Simple, and still within the lore and Role Playing aspects of the game. - Mangy

It's a super old post I know, but wouldn't the ideal solution be to make everyone happy (or at least most) is to have anet have an individual on/off switch where those that want to see others' tonics can turn them on, while those that don't can turn it off? Other than that, it's just stupid to argue over things you're not likely to change at this point in time. --24.92.116.83 02:15, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Probably either un-doable technically, or simply something Anet will decide isnt worth the effort, but yeah, an off switch for all the random transspecies crossdressers would be sweet indeed. Talk‎ena. 14:22, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
I just wish they'd drop less often from Gifts-o-t-Traveler. ...for no other reason than b/c I'm trying to get Rock Candies, not means of trolling n00bs (which there was already plenty of ways to without looking like a retard too). --ilrUser ilr deprav.png 01:18, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Speaking for myself, I find the change in appearance a bit of an embarrassing side-effect of my desire to max the party animal title track. I wish the form itself was possible to switch off the form itself, maybe by making it a post processing effect or something. I like my armour, and spent a lot of gold on it - just because I want the title, I have to make it invisible in every town I visit...--Son of Batman 07:54, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Note/Trivia[edit]

I'm rather surprised to find that there's no note or trivia (whichever one would apply) saying that this is the only tonic that doesn't have an everlasting version. Is there a reason for this and if not could someone add? Daeheru 12:37, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Everlasting Tonic Now!!!! (Please?)[edit]

Only everlasting I would even look into buying. I sure hope they make an everlasting version. R U Who U Want To B 19:12, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Unless it was easily acquired, it would cost 387582378374867835765965867589648567 ecto to buy. --'Mai Yi' talk 19:12, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Easter Egg[edit]

It seems that most of the forms I've tried with this thing (Rabbit, Yeti, Rainbow Phoenix to name a few) sporadically show their death animation when you try to /sit while under their effect. Has anyone found other animations that happen when doing different emotes while under the effects of these forms? Donlik 06:05, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Rework please[edit]

A lot of forms mentioned here are linked to historical content, this should not have a place. Currently most of forms have the effect Disguised with a few exceptions, although the models are the same as before the unification. I suppose that a simple list of forms or, maybe, a table with actual (not historical) links or a gallery of images would be more suitable here. --37.190.52.85 14:20, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
