Monk-tango-icon-20.png Benvolio Seraphim:

Benvolio is a young and enthusiastic Monk. He is constantly full of energy and ready to go at any time. Often he will bite off a bit more than he can chew, a direct result from his overconfidence and overzealous attitude. He was born into an average Ascalonian family in the village of Ashford. From a young age he was constantly torn by his parents beliefs; his father a Necromancer and devout follower of Grenth, while his mother was a Monk and devout follower of Dwayna. At a young age, his father was killed by a group of undead fueled by powerful dark magics that had escaped the Catacombs. This horde of walking dead raided the village of Ashford. As hard as Benvolio's mother tried, she was unable to resurrect his father, as the dark magics fueling these undead were far too great. Though there were few casualties from this suprise attack of the undead, Benvolio completely cast out Grenth after seeing his father taken from him so viciously, believing that if Grenth were truly a God worth worshipping, he would have saved a devout follower from such a horrible death. Benvolio then chose to devote his entire life to Dwayna, seeing her as both he and his mother's saviour, who he claims must have been watching over them and protecting them from the undead.

After that day he spent much time studying at both Serenity Temple under Priestess Rashenna, and Ashford Abbey under Brother Mhenlo. Every morning and night he would pray to Dwayna to protect his mother and himself, and to watch over his father in the afterlife. On the fateful day of The Searing, Benvolio was listening to some of the findings of Meerak the Scribe in Ashford Abbey when the skies began to turn a dark blood-red. Without warning, a mass of large crystalline meteorites began hurtling toward the Kingdom of Ascalon. Benvolio knew this dire situation would test his faith in the goddess of air and life; Dwayna. He rushed to her statue toward the back of Ashford Abbey and began to pray. A powerful beam of light shone down from the heavens, and there before Benvolio was the Avatar of Dwayna. She placed her hands together, closed her eyes, and began chanting some form of incantation.

There was a massive explosion of light, and both Meerak and himself were absorbed by it. Meerak seemingly lost his mind, his eyes now emitting a powerful blue light as he stood their motionless and horror-stricken. He soon began screaming about the horrible visions he was having. Benvolio, however, seemed to have been given a different destiny from the Avatar, and suddenly felt incredible force overcome him. He ran to protect his mother, Meerak still consumed by these prophetic horrors. Benvolio ran to his mother's house in Ashford when he saw a large crystal falling rapidly above. He drew upon all the energy inside of him to create a divine protective shield around his mother, surging with the incredible power bestwoed upon him by Dwayna. The crystal hit and Benvolio suddenly fell unconscious.

His protective aura seemed to have lasted just long enough, his mother and himself miraculously surviving the crystal, however Benvolio remained unconscious for months. Every day his mother would pray and attempt to revive him, until one day when he finally awoke to a nightmarish vision of Ascalon, a Kingdom now in ruins. He pledged he would find the source of this evil and draw upon the power of Dwayna herself to destroy it, protecting the world of Tyria from any other evils he may come across.
